I have been working for GoodRx as an engineer for about a year, and have mixed feelings about where the company has been, and am slightly optimistic about where it's headed. 

First, the past year has been characterized by extremely rapid growth of the company - it has more than doubled in size in this time. Throughout this, priorities were shifting constantly, it seemed like there were often no teams owning critical systems, and only a handful of old guard employees had a wholistic perspective on the company's various offerings. Lots of whiplash in engineering org direction led to high attrition and complete siloing of knowledge. The chaos affected people's day-to-day jobs more than it should have. 

Fast forward to the start of 2022, there are leadership changes (new CPO and a variety of other execs) and with that came more shakeups to priorities and attrition of some senior folks. But now it feels like there's a more comprehensive vision, better decisions are being made, and it seems like there's a brighter future ahead. 

This is a company with a sound business model providing a vital function to the healthcare industry, and if it works out its kinks might even be a great place to work again. 

Every 6 months or so there is a large org restructuring to coincide with new goals and initiatives, which is a challenge for folks down the chain who are working tirelessly to achieve company goals. Almost every restructuring involves layoffs. Lately turnover has increased, seeing long-tenured employees leaving, and vast amounts of domain knowledge along with them. Stock is down, so there's a perception that the company is unhealthy. Roadmap planning is thorough but gets blown up within a month as priorities shift or new priorities emerge. Feels like a wasted effort, thus prone to feeling burned-out.

Base pay is competitive with most other companies

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Disorganized mess, priorities, and company direction constantly changing. Leadership is not very good, and they certainly do not value their workers

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They claim to support remote, but they do so begrudgingly. Culture is weird, not very friendly, and very fake people

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Way to many meetings, chasing things up

Company and People are A+++ helping people AFFORD their prescription medicine.  The 1099 opportunity is a great way to market and SELL an A+ product.  PASSIONATE people.  It is a "feel good" opportunity and you will earn what you do in the field and marketing the discount cards and APPS while learning too.  You will hear positive stories of people being ABLE to afford their prescription medicine. SUCH GREAT COMPANY ... can't say enough POSITIVES.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Creative, supportive and committed to building relationships among workers, even though remote.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The company has high standards and rolling deadlines; there's no time to slack off.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly and professional. Outreach to remote workers included.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Clear expectations for assignments; work at a steady pace.

GoodRx follow its mission all the way down to how they treat their employees. You are not just a number you are treated like a person and valued!  I got a soup gift basket when I was sick and Flowers when I found out my mom was sick. Overall very encouraging management with the best work life balance! SO EXCITED for all the new project GoodRx is working on. 

The company and most people who work there are great. If you are an engineer / QA / product - 

If you just want to keep your head down and work on what you're told to work on, make money and stay here for a few years then leave, this is a great place. If you want to get promoted or make an impact, you better know how to and be willing to play politics.

So many politics and toxic leaders that the co-ceo's are either oblivious to or do nothing about because the toxic behavior and politics helps their bottom line. 

The average work day is to do 15 Pharmacy presentations per day. Commission structure isn't too rich 96% to sales goal. A majority of my territory is two plus hours out. They do not allow you to drive more than an hour and 15 minutes from base. This is an entry level position. This is a good starting position for somebody who wants to get into sales.

It's easy to come to work each day knowing we are providing meaningful value to our customers and making an impact in the healthcare industry. The passion, humility and incredible knowledge of management and colleagues keep me engaged and challenged. The incredible office, benefits, and perks are the icing on the cake.
