I have been an MSR at Greater Nevada for a little over a year now and I honestly cannot recommend this job to anyone. 
 To begin, the role of the MSR is to work as a universal banker meaning we operate in both a teller and banker capacity. This would be fine, if we received the training we need and were compensated as such.  Unfortunately, there is minimal training and we are left to figure out a lot on our own. When we come upon something we don't know how to do, we are told to reach out to different departments, but most of the time other departments are unwilling to help or will belittle you for asking.  
The lending department communicates with members exclusively over the phone and the MSR takes care of document signing and closing the loan.  Too often I have been left doing damage control with a member because the lending department was not transparent about terms or additional products.  At this point I am left trying to reach out to the department to fix things with an extremely upset member and the department does not seem to care.  
Inconsistencies in policies cause a lot of things to slip through the cracks and cause a lot of stress on the team as we have a lot of upset members all of the time.  
The turnover rate is so high here, that we are ALWAYS short staffed. This creates long lines and again, causes a lot of stress for the MSR team and our members.  
Upper management makes it seem like this is a super welcoming place and like you are part of a company that cares about employees and cares about your feedback, but this is NOT the case. Upper management does not hear your concerns and ultimately, will brush you off and place all of the blame on the branch level. They claim to have a culture of caring, but they have clearly lost that somewhere.  
If you're looking to get into banking, look elsewhere because this place is not at all worth the stress

The company as a whole has a good foundation to build a great work environment and I’m sure in different departments it maybe better. I was in front line to start and consumer lending to finish. Let’s just say front line wasn’t bad but it was full of drama and micro management. Consumer lending was great to grow with flexibility but no support, guidance from management or department heads, and constant random not trained tasks that you are meant to just figure out. The HR department has one person in particular that’s hard to deal with and has been a deciding factor in multiple recent long term employees leaving. It’s sad to say but you are well under paid for the amount of work required and the semi annual merit increase was a joke. 

Overall I learned a lot and was able to build on my skills but it was all self taught in a stressful, unorganized, unsupported environment with a manager who didn’t know how to do anything or wanted to learn. The other manager was drama and always stirring something else up as well. Just be careful in the route you choose or make this a place till you find something better! 

My branch (south reno location) was awesome because the staff was so friendly and we were like a family. The branch manager was awful until he got replaced with a very sweet and respectful manager. This branch was almost always fast-paced and stressful because our internet would go out often, or the machines that held our money would stop working and would take awhile to reboot (making for upset members). When we were overworked or super short staffed though, our manager would buy us food for lunches but would shorten our lunches to 30 mins instead of the normal 1 hour (fair trade). CEO was the best, the people working for the company really cared for it. Its a job i learned a lot at. I was a universal teller and banker, i helped with loans and accounts and just regular money handling. I would have stayed with the company if I wasnt relocating to a place where there wasnt a branch for this company. I miss this job in many ways. worked there for 11 and a half months

Greater Nevada Credit Union has been my employer for several years, and it's disheartening to admit that my experience here has been far from satisfying, particularly in terms of advancement opportunities. I joined the team with high hopes and dedication to my role, believing in the credit union's core values, including care for its employees. However, as the years passed, these expectations were left unfulfilled.

One of the most frustrating aspects of my time at GNCU is the lack of career advancement. Despite consistently exceeding performance expectations and displaying a genuine commitment to the company's mission, I have found myself stuck in the same position with no clear path for growth. When inquiring about potential opportunities for advancement, the responses have been vague and non-committal. It's clear that the organization lacks a structured career development plan, which is disappointing for someone like me who is eager to learn and contribute more.

Every member service representative (teller) has to make about 4 sales per day in order to meet an arbitrary and unchanging quota. During training they stress that people trust their bankers to take care of them, and that our #1 value is being that trustworthy banker. That is not the case once you have a quota. My manager would frequently advise me to aggressively push credit cards and auto loans to people who clearly couldn't afford to pay the bills they already had. I had a moral objection to the fact that people trusted me to give them solid advice on what they need from us, when in actuality it was a high pressure sales job. It is exactly the type of atmosphere that caused much of the fraud that took place at the storefront level of other banks (wells Fargo)

The credit union as a whole is a good company.  However, they desperately need to refocus on Customer Service instead of sales.  On a typical day in the Member Resource Center (phone branch), we are expected to take 50-100+ calls.  Expect a high level of abuse from customers unhappy with fees or other things, like having to use the new chipped debit cards.  Don't expect to get to move into other departments, openings are few and far between and the company usually just hires from the outside rather than promote, even laterally, from within.

With no leadership after the merger the branch struggled to assist members with day to day transactions.We were not given any training prior to merger, learning as we go along.  With the pending decision on keeping the branch open or not, we were left with learning what we could to get by on a daily basis. The tellers were given sales goals which they struggled with due to low volume of traffic.  The branch was given revenue goals which we met most of the time.  When our staff reduced, we did not replace them leaving us in a stressful environment.

It was a very hostile work environment. Everyone there was unfriendly and hated newcomers, talked bad about eachother or clients, and there was no uplifting energy. The manager at the time started drama on purpose to make herself “fit in” with the younger girls that worked there. Very inappropriate behavior and the main HR department never called me back so I could express my concerns.
Employees had to meet certain goals throughout the month, such as open certain accounts that were just ripping off clients. Totally not worth it. This was the worst place I’ve ever worked at.

Many locations. Nice break room. Coffee, cream and sugar provided by company.Wally meeting is a hit! 
 Room for growth if you know the right people. Management across the board is awful. A lot of drama in the branches. 

I excelled in my role. I often wish I could go back under different circumstances, and with new management. Management doesn’t handle bullying amongst coworkers. Employees are allowed to be rude to other employees and very little is done to punish those who are the bullies. Employee recognition is only done at the annual meeting and often times it’s not what you know but who you know. 

the job wasn't bad but it was hard with the management that they had in place at the time and dependent on sales goals although they call it referrals. Constantly under the microscope to meet your goal and if you don't you're fired. In the beginning being mislead on how your training is and having an assistant manager tell you that "they straight up hate you" is horrible. The benefits were nice along with the bonuses but it was not worth the stress everyday .If you have the ability to sell products to every person you meet, I recommend it.
