This is a place that fires their employees after taking a survey welcoming honesty about the company. The place is a mess to say the least. During my interview I was advised that I would receive adequate training about what and how the company works. Upon hire I received 6 hrs of training and then was thrown downstairs in the basement after spring cleaning. Once I got downstairs I realized this place is also a health hazard. The vents were caped with dust, the agents trash hadn’t been taken out and there was nothing but foul gossip about one another on the floor. It felt like high school. Given there were SOME professional adults on the floor that were happy, upbeat and well spoken but this is the culture, not to mention there is a T.V in the middle of the floor playing controversial topics. During shadowing the agents would recommend NOT to pay attention to the training material, the managers were rarely available and when they were available to discuss my discomfort as a new hire I was told “ you’re putting too much pressure onto yourself.”. There aren’t any tools to assist you with doing your job correctly, the systems are out dated and the management doesn’t know half of the answers to the questions the agents have. They simply have you ask someone else on the floor assuming you haven’t already done so or terminate you, which happened in my case indicating I was “unfit”. A waste of my three weeks I’ll say. P.S. Don’t get sick working in the health hazard during your 90 day probationary period, don’t be honest about what could be better within the company and don’t speak when you have a question. It won’t get answered correctly. Just drown.

A typical day at work consists of handling time sensitive correspondence we received from opposing counsel and/or the Defendants themselves. Processing the Minnesota Exemptions inbox, but logging any incoming mail. Drafting litigation documents from Initial Disclosures to Motion for Summary Judgments. Like any position, there are always the small things that pop up during the day, which become priority. Being able to handle these small projects with due diligence and in a timely matter, help make the day go smoothly.

I've learned that there will always be another day. Even though there are timelines to everything, it is best to understand that you cannot accomplish everything in one day; so, tackle what you can.

I believe that all the people that work within Gurstel Chargo, P.A., are outgoing and friendly. It makes for a great work enviornment.

The hardest part of my job is to deal with the volume, as Gurstel Chargo, P.A., as a very large inventory of files and cases. I have to manage my stress outside of work with exercise and time spent with family and friends.

The most enjoyable part of my job is being with my co-workers. Even if there is a bad day - they are some of the best people that know how to make you feel better.

I love my job and the people. I however hate the fact that the admins do absolutely everything and beyond but get paid peanuts. The CEO flaunts his trips and new buys but we never ever ever get raises. Moving up isnt easy. The appreciation from the management is limited. When I first started a few years ago it was 180. The culture was warm, the people were helpful and welcoming. The appreciation for employees was above and beyond. Lunches and raises...it was all fair. Now you're lucky to get a review once a year. Forget about raises. Advertising about spending thousands on "new" this and that but none goes to pay for employees. The equipment is so out of date it's crazy. I used to really really love my job and now it just makes me sad. So many people leave when they see the work load and then the benefits...or lack there of and pay. Its sad. Needless to say as much as I love my job I lovr my mental health and my well being more. Sorry but if my job cant pay basic bills why am I wasting my time?. Not in this world we live in. It's just not enough. 

Do not work here. The management does not care about you as an individual. They pay extremely below the average median income for the area of Minneapolis for positions.  Also, if you have any sort of emergency (family, car issues, outside life issues) they do not care. They will even penalize you for those.  I would never work here or recommend to anyone to work at this company.  Worst place i've ever picked to work.  Everything is made to look like a family organization your first day but quickly you would find out you are basically just an ant to them and not a person with a life and if you do have any real life issues that come up, they will not care.  Highly recommend staying far away from any position here. They also over work you like no other and in my opinion, they put on a great façade when you start and that quickly fades into reality of you just being a worker, not a human or a person. 

This job is constant busy work that is endless, and the 40 hrs a week won’t be enough to get it all done unless you are constantly rushing (which is not efficient or sustainable). They will always under pay for your hard efforts and the CEO himself has expressed in firm wide meetings his intentional of increasing payroll as little as possible (meaning little opportunities for more money or growth). Bonuses are a joke as well, if not non-existent. They will never pay you enough for the amount of stress and work they will hand you. Having a good work-life balance is almost impossible as they are very selective about who can work remote (often requiring people to always be in person when others doing the same job are allowed to work from home). Highly do not recommend.

Not a good place to work. They don’t celebrate diversity, over work employees, no structure, and love to micromanage. There are no incentives. You are forced to work Mon-Friday and you have to have the 40 hrs. If you miss hours you have to make it up…but then they tell you…you can’t work weekends.🙄 

They don’t help you out if you are a student or even want to attend law school. If you want to gain more legal skills, they don’t offer training and don’t have incentives for that either. 

You get the bare minimum of everything. Was promised all this equipment and it never came. Their systems are always slow or shutting down. If it goes out, they make you clock out, and you don’t receive pay for the day. Unless you want to use your PTO. 

Got to the point I had a mental break down and had to leave. Got a new job and it feels great to be treated like a human again!!! 

A typical work day at Gurstel Chargo PA was very busy. I got to learn civil litigation involving collection law. This was a high volume law firm with high expectations. You were reprehended if you made any error's, and sometimes not recognized for your hard work. We were required to take compliance tests on regulations and acts regarding consumer's rights recurrently. I enjoyed always being busy and multitasking. The only disadvantage with this job would be that I felt under paid do to the amount of responsibility I had. I loved the work environment and co-workers who were always helpful and cooperative.

I would not recommend this law firm to anyone. The lack of proper training for their employees is glaringly obvious, leading to poor service and a frustrating experience. It's clear that the management has no interest in supporting their team, which directly impacts the quality of service they provide. When employees are not properly trained or valued, it's no surprise that the company itself suffers. Their indifferent attitude towards both employees and clients speaks volumes about their priorities. Their low ratings are a direct reflection of the true state of this firm – disorganized, unprofessional, and uncaring. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for legal assistance.

The best parts about working for Gurstel law firm is the people. I met some of the nicest and hardest working people while working at Gurstel. 

The biggest cons are the workload, you will work more than 8 hours a day, probably work about 10 hours a day sometimes more and the pay does not reflect the hard work you put in.  The clients are very very demanding with unreasonable expectations that have to be met no matter what. 

Very little care is put into making sure the employees are happy and not overworked and the care goes to making sure the clients get whatever they want no matter what it is. 


I have worked for many other law firms and no other law firm comes close to Gurstel Chargo.  I have been with the company over 2 years and love that people are very passionate about their job, the company, and the industry. Feels like one big family.  What I like is that the company holds employees accountable.  

This company invest time into training people and they have a great onboarding process.  They give you the tools and training you need to do your job and be successful at it.  I am learning something new all the time.  Management is professional and they do a lot of things to recognize their employees.
