The company has leadership that is typically concerned with numbers, but the actual field experience is excellent. The policies allow the workers to do what needs to be done with the client, including working with the family. The benefits are not the best, but they are still decent in this economy. The workers are mostly very experienced and educated with a few exceptions.
The training is completely on-the-job. There is some obligatory "training" but it's just a lot of tests with no real class before or after. You just do your best and get lucky or you find the answer in the guide on the post-test. Apart from that, they assign you clients and off you go with your paperwork! No real help apart from being able to call your supervisor or coworkers to find out what this line means or who signs which document. They have been informed of this, and because of the growth of the company, it is likely they will change this. Their reasoning for not having training is that they hire experienced people with educations and degrees and therefore should not have to teach them things they should already know. It becomes quickly apparent that something more is needed besides baptism by fire for the paperwork.
The pay sometimes feels like commission because of the fact that your pay depends on the number of client visits you make. The marketing falls on your shoulders but then actually making referrals is on the shoulders of those to whom you marketed. Therefore, if you do not market enough, you will not have enough clients. If you are full-time and drop below their standard for two weeks, they remove your full-time status and benefits, according to the handbook. And like many jobs, one of the downfalls is that you get a set rate for doing paperwork. Yes, you will spend more time doing paperwork than you are paid for. But who doesn't mind a little extra "umph" to remind you that you love what you do? Oh yes, and mileage. They do not pay for their actual employees' mileage, but they do pay for college interns' mileage. Therefore, make sure you live close to your assigned area/county that you don't mind going there 3x/week out of your own pocket.
The CEO is hard-working and was promoted internally. Thus, she likes to promote internally as often as possible. The company is still growing and expanding, so the possibilities are always increasing for professional growth and advancement. The system for progress notes just is not (in my opinion) the optimum system for our work.
However, the leadership has shown that they care about their employees by attempting to come and personally fix the issues being reported. They also try to work with each person's situation, as they are investing in the employees as well.
As I previously mentioned, the clients are sometimes difficult to work with, sometimes the families do not call you, people are not home, miss appointments, etc., but the ability to work with other professionals is superb. Coordinating care has been a great help for clients. The company is constantly providing resources such as homework documents, treatment-related information, and outside training events for the workers in order to keep us all sharp and equipped.
Much of the leadership provides helpful insight and feedback. They do not condescend or discourage. They have a professional way of approaching encouragement, reproof, and other situations when supervising a group of professionally trained individuals.

This company has been one of the biggest scams I have ever worked for. For one, they do not give you mileage. They give you $50 on your paycheck every two weeks that is taxed. While they say your schedule is flexible, they will give you a caseload where you have to work early in the morning to late evenings. The kids are NEVER in your area of where you live!! The health insurance is also a mess. They choose your plane for you. They also do not offer paid FMLA! If you reach out to someone in a higher authority they sometimes will get back to you or sometimes they will not. Health Connect America tells you your salary is one thing when you sign your contract , however, once you start to see your paycheck you’ll notice your check becomes less and less or remains the same. The reason for this is because if your face to face hours are not 23 hours or above nothing you do matters. They will tell you to submit everything you’re doing as far as phone calls,  COC’s, ROIs, and more to help you get your hours but even then IF your CCFT ours does not match 23HOURS, all the work you’re doing does not reflect your paycheck. Basically, You are working hourly and not salary because your paychecks will not be the same. Meaning in the end, your gross pay will not be what’s on your contract. This job does not pay enough for a surviving adult especially with kids to make it throughout the week. You are definitely living paycheck to paycheck if that. The job becomes very stressful especially when kids are out of school or holidays come around. No matter if children are out of town or not showing up, they will still blame you and tell you it’s your responsibility to get the hours no matter how you can. I would not recommend this company for anyone because it is  a mental health hazard to your own mental health. They want you to take care of others mental health while they deny you from taking care of yours and give you no leisure. The turnover rate for this job is tremendously high. That includes higher ups to small employees, no one stays for a period of time unless they are in school trying to get their supervision hours. 

As big as this company is, they do not compensate their employees fair AT ALL! you’ll become stressed trying to make ends meet with a DEGREE! They do not offer “competitive pay”! They have offices in multiple states and you want to stay away fro ALL of them!! 

Go find better! Save yourself!

It’s such a shame to see negative reviews about such a wonderful company. I will say each office operates differently, so I cannot speak to other locations; however, I can confidently say this is the best job I have ever had, and I’ve been in the workforce for 8 years. The atmosphere in the office is supportive and welcoming. All staff in the office have pleasant interactions with one another, and I know if I have questions, there are staff around the office to support me. If you have personal issues arise without notice, management is completely understanding and truly prioritizes put yourself/family first. As our PD says, you can’t pour from an empty cup. 

I genuinely feel cared about by my coworkers. If I’m running behind or unresponsive, I know there will be people who will call me asking if I am okay. I highly value that. I feel heard and understood, and I feel like my input matters. 

There are hard days. No job will not have those; however, that comes with this type of work. But I can say that those days are far and few for me. There are very few cons to this job and those cons can be reasoned. Pay, for example, is not the best. I took a significant pay-cut (nearly $8) when I took my position; however, it has been a good decision for my health. Prior to this job, I hit a breaking point that felt impossible to climb out of due to various factors, including my previous employer. How I came in as an employee versus now fee like two different people (in a good way). 

I have heard from coworkers that our benefits are also lackluster. I utilize very little of our benefits, though, for that reason. The only other con I can note is there is inconsistency in the company as a whole. There are frequent changes in processes (to streamline things to be smoother) and because individuals operate differently in their roles across all locations, it can be difficult to find the correct answer to a problem. That being said, everyone is quick to collaborate together to help you find the answer, so again, reasonable con.

Even writing the cons I have found in the job, I have no fears posting this review if the company should see it because I know these issues are being worked on, and Health Connect is very transparent about trying to make processes better so feedback is a moving part in that. 

The company does not care for you. They will list false titles and job descriptions, then once hired, they will let you know that you actually applied for a different position that has a higher level than what you applied for. They make you preform tasks that are not even in the job description with very low pay. Management team was very gossipy and made you feel uncomfortable. They were very petty people and were very condescending when you made a mistake. They have gone through many OM's and would talk badly about everyone of them. I can now see why they would slack off or leave HCA. They expected you to know how to preform the job quickly and flawlessly when they never had any proper training. They will have other employees from different counties or even different states to train you, even though the insurance policies and billing that they train you is completely different then how you're suppose to do it in the office that you are located in. Billing was a mess. They would make you call/ bill patients that have been discharged 2+years ago, and have to deal with the complaints (which were valid) and not knowing how to properly bill since there was no actual training with billing. They have 6 different ways of how they bill patients. Communication is terrible. If you are on an hourly pay, then expect to dedicate your time and life to the job that does not even help pay for bills. Beware of your PTO somehow dropping to the negatives (still to this day do not know how that is possible). No room to grow unless you're a therapist. Even if you are a therapist, not many last after a year due to low pay, many hours, horrible communication, and unethical practices. I would stay away from this company if you can!

I have worked for a handful of counseling agencies and this is definitely the worst. They do not pay you for your travel, meetings, or paperwork time which consist of 80% of your time. Consider this job volunteer work. Management has very poor clinical skills and are very disorganized. Management does not care about their clients or their employees. If a parent complains about a counselor they will quickly side with the parent and fire the counselor. If your clients do not show up for sessions you will be held responsible and be written up. These are just some examples of why Health Connect should not be in business and will never be known as a respectable company. Oh yeah, they also stretch the truth to insurance companies in order for insurance companies to pay for services. I caught my supervisor writing up a false concurrent and putting my name on it without my consent. They are in the business of making children look bad for months so they can take advantage of these children and get more money from insurances. Treatment teams are a waste of time because they do not know how to solve child behavior problems and family conflicts. They pride themselves on seeing clients 3 times a week rather than helping clients.I like going to a buffet every now and then, but could you imagine going 3 times a day! Too much of anything is not a good thing and that includes counseling. I hope insurance companies wake up and realize the services they provide are nothing but a scam.  Those people are scam artists and good at it. The light will drive out the darkness. Anyone who would take advantage of children like this should be put out of business and be penalized to the max.

I am getting paid a non-competitive salary, and always work more than 40 hours and did not get paid OT. There is never a way to plan out my day, as something always comes up. Whether is was a client issue, or upper supervisory and management expecting their own needs to be met, over my own. Some employees (including management) have their own cliques. Driving is necessary, however the price for the wear and tear on my car. To be promoted, you must be friends with the upper management .The Medicaid expectations for obtaining billable hours is what you will spend most of your time trying to do. Less time on client care and more time writing notes. While trying to obtain your billable hours, you are also expected to go to mandatory meetings that are generally pointless and a waste of time. Eating, playing games, and coming up for more ways to waste time and have fun. Meanwhile, everyone's clients needs are put on the back burner, and you will have to make up the lost working time on your own time, but whatever you do, do not go over 40 hours, which on average 50 to 60 hours is the norm.The training is not desirable at all and you will have to struggle to learn on your own. You will not have your own office, so if you work at the office doing paperwork, you will be distracted by all the noise and traffic in the hallways. No matter how good of an organizer you think you are, you will never be organized and will never get ahead.BURN OUT is guaranteed.Poor poor benefits. Remember it is a for profit business. They are there to make money, not give it. You will never get a raise.The really good people leave, because they know they can get better elsewhere.

Health Connect America is a quickly growing company with many good workers and a want to serve the public. I am grateful for the internship served there and for the 2 years of post graduate school; professional employment with this company and believe that I learned allot that will help me better serve a multiple and diverse clientele. 
Personally, I want my work done well and am my own worse critique. To provide Health Connect with the appropriate representation, to be able to help my clients to the fullest of my capability and to be compliant to ever changing policy and demands of the work; I was investing an average of 15-17 hours daily and the position consumed my weekends fully as well. There would not be any way for me to see all 35-45 direct contact hours of clients, do the paper work, and travel to the homes and collaterals, providing a high 95-100 % of therapy for clients under my charge. In addition, I was the facilitator of the IOP groups and individuals. 
I am a team player and worked these hours with the understanding that HCA would increase staff; however as they tried to meet their staffing needs; other staff quit due to burn out and personal issues thus leading to further and extended staff shortage. After two years of carrying an extreme case load, working 7-9 counties; I found myself experiencing high stress and burn out; and when this was not helped with a lower case load; I then resigned for family and my health. I love therapy. I am searching a more reasonable case load with a great company. I wish HCA well as they grow and am glad to have been a major part of their growth in Athens, TN

I worked various positions within  this organization. I loved working with the children and families. Sadly they are the ones being hurt because,this organization puts profits over patient care. 
The management staff had no problems blaming staff for problems within the office. They spent more time on paid vacation or working from home than supporting the staff. They require staff to falsify information to obtain a higher level of care than a client actually needs to keep their numbers up. It is expected that after completing an assessment a diagnosis is provided. If a client doesn’t meet diagnostic criteria for anything they “suggest” submitting a diagnosis for adjustment disorder. 

There was/is little to no training; as a social work intern you are assigned a caseload and proved with limited supervision ( whose not even a licensed social worker). They have placed interns in therapist positions leading IOP groups, CCFT, and completing assessments without guidance. 

As a part-time therapist you only get paid for billable hours. Meaning all the time it takes to drive to a clients home, write notes, collaborate with school, parents, DCS is on your own time. Your required to attend mandatory staff meetings where you are not paid.  If I relied on the money I made with this organization to pay my bills I would’ve been living on the streets.

At first, I found my job to be incredibly fulfilling and enjoyable. I was really thriving in my role, making connections with the children and helping them navigate their challenging situations. However, things changed when my supervisor came back from her maternity leave. Her return brought a shift in the workplace atmosphere that I was not prepared for. Instead of the supportive environment I had come to appreciate, she tended to micromanage many aspects of my work.

I was expected to send detailed weekly to-do lists that included everything I had done and what still needed to be tackled, as well as daily to-do lists and completed tasks when working from home. This added pressure made it increasingly difficult to feel like I had any control over my own responsibilities. Taking any paid time off became a battle; it felt nearly impossible. I also found myself on-call much more often than I anticipated—sometimes being on-call for longer than a week, and this could happen twice a month!

The work-life balance that I once enjoyed completely vanished. I often felt overwhelmed, wishing that circumstances were different. It is important to note that everyone else on the team was genuinely wonderful to work with, which made the situation even more frustrating. However, managing my workload under the Roanoke caseworker supervisor presented significant challenges. Turnover is very high as well.

Upper management, including the C-suite, seems rather directionless, a scenario not uncommon in a typical healthcare startup grappling with growth strategies. A pervasive expectation exists among many managers and executives that rank-and-file employees should intuitively discern their intentions and swiftly execute projects. With barely any Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place, the environment is such that one either sinks or swims within the first two weeks.

It's not uncommon to witness hires, ostensibly brought on board for roles requiring 2-3 years of experience, being expected to perform at a level typically associated with a decade or more of experience. The company has seen multiple changes at the executive level over the past seven years, but these transitions don’t appear to have significantly benefited the organization. The hiring of executives doesn’t seem to be based on merit or knowledge, raising questions about the company’s competitive positioning.

Given the prevailing circumstances, it’s hard to envision how the company will be able to compete with bigger players in the industry. One can't help but speculate that the endgame might be positioning the company for acquisition, allowing the executives to exit with substantial bonuses. If you’re contemplating a role here, a careful and thoughtful evaluation would be prudent.
