The overview and bottom line of this job is that the company will try to see what things the employees are interested in changing or making improvements within the company. The purpose of the service is to provide families services to help them in everyday life occurrences and it's a great feeling to help families and be a great support person. It's also a comfortable environment to work in while everyone of every race, disability, etc. will feel included. 
What I don't agree with is that they put so much of a workload on you that they don't tell you about to the point where it's a mental struggle. Too many participants are given to home visitors with an unrealistic time frame to get work done and then you end up getting backed up and more stressed out to the point where you have to make a tough choice to leave this position and HR won't have your back. They'll just throw you under the bus an tell you that you weren't doing your job. 

Each day varies as couselor/advocates are also medical advocates, therefore, there is a frequency of cancelling scheduled appointments to allow person to respond or if over 35 hours for that week and on a call that exceeds the 35 hours schedules need to be adjusted often causing for appointments to be rescheduled.
There is no consistency with work schedules
Too many managers and everyone seems to have their own agenda
Co-workers make a great team
The hardest part is lack of communication with management and not always being able to help clients
The most enjoyable part of the job is working with the clients

Staff is taught self-care but not given opportunities to follow through with it.

Enjoyed working for the company because I love working with the public, and knowing you can make a difference in someone's life is a great feeling.  I learned a lot and brought a lot of experience to the company. Co-workers were great, even though I was the newest member they would look to me for help.  Hardest part of my job was that I was hired to be a Counselor, but was kept at the front desk, and never was the right time for them to train me. Dealing with the patients and multitasking was my most enjoyable part of the job.

When I started at this agency it was a grass roots organization.  People helping people.  I learned so much and was a supportive work environment.  Working with victims of interpersonal crime was extremely rewarding.  The work was fulfilling but the management staff changed and so did the culture of the agency.  I was saddened to leave the actual work but not worth the frustration that came with the revolving door of management staff.

The management was disorganized, leading to a chaotic work environment. Training was inadequate, and the workload was overwhelming with little support and lots of judgement.That must be the reason why they are always looking to hire new people. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone seeking a positive workplace.At the end of the day what matters is how you feel not how much you make. 

The organization claims to be inclusive and diverse, but it’s a facade. The agency itself lacks representation of the diverse communities it services, and they don’t really want to shift the internal culture to be respectful and affirming of diverse identities. Management lacks conflict resolution skills, and is not supportive of staff when they are experiencing violence and discrimination in the workplace, either by other staff or clients served.

Do not apply here if your looking for long term work. They are constantly terminating people this takes place just about monthly. There is no growth opportunities. They start off great in the beginning but when you deep dive they do not value there employees and nor do they know how to manage the agency or there funding. It is a job you can grow to love but it will not be allowed with the management operating the place currently. 

Then management changed and all those things went out the window. The CEO doesn’t know how to lead and make decisions that threatens the livelihood and jobs of other employees and their departments. She uses the funds raised by one or many other departments to fund one particular expedition and neglects the ones that are actually raising the capital.

Working with the clients, knowing you are making a difference in their lives.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When there is not alot of communication. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is all good, most staff are friendly

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Helping the clients, answering the phones.

Unfortunately, this parent company and its upper management have no idea of what its employees do and/or how valuable they are. They are unsupportive.   The hardest part of the job: the workplace culture is that of "every man for himself." The director is weak and does not inspire team work.
