I'll be nice and start with the good things:

The benefits are good. Decent PTO accrual (if you can ever use it), great affordable health care, acceptable wage, most of the residents are nice, used to have decent quality food. And that's about it. The 401k is a joke unless you work there 5+ years.

Management is poor. Administration does nothing to address serious concerns. Pretends like you're being listened to, but no action is ever taken.

Constantly understaffed and over worked. Unappreciated. Favoritism. Constant cycling of overpaid travel/agency nurses while doing nothing to retain actual employees. Lack of care for residents with long wait times. Food dishes sitting in the room all day. Assisted diners food sitting at the nurses station getting cold while they are on their phones.

Very rarely is your hard work ever recognized by even a simple 'thank you'. Those who actually do their job end up leaving for better opportunities. But you'll have great job security because you'll never get fired despite how poor your performance is because they are desperate for employees!

I can *not* recommend this company. After their lease is up I'd be surprised if it even stays open. Meanwhile the company continues to fill their buildings to capacity and build new locations while avoiding the very glaring problem of a poor reputation and being chronically understaffed.

Corporate and Administration need a harsh awakening and reality check of their 'sinking ship' situation. Look at your reviews. They're all trash (besides the obvious ones you've written as damage control)

Oh, and those bonuses you paid out based on length of employment? Thanks for making the minimum 3 years and completely overlooking those who stuck with you during the peak of Covid, while the higher-ups that already get paid much more got a fat bonus check. And then giving your employee-of-the-year a tiny rolling cooler with cheap beef jerky and a back-handed comment of "for missing your annual hunting trip". What a pathetic joke.

This facility could be amazing if they actually cared about the employees. Memory Support is a nightmare and not because of the residents. Its the employees back here. The clicks that one nurse and one clinical care manager have formed with 2 of the worst and laziest employees has made it nearly unworkable.
  If you make the mistake of taking a risk and working here dont ever even think about letting ANY of the managers or administrator know of any issues you see going on that is borderline abuse to the residents because they will NOT try to fix the problem. They will turn you into a target for just trying to make sure that these residents that cant speak up for themselves are getting correct care. The 2 nurse techs back here one male and one mentally unstable female have been turned into managment on more than a dozen occasions and because the horrible clinical care coordinator and the highly obese nurse are friends with these techs NOTHING ever gets taken care of with them.
  I will be putting in my 2 week notice as soon as spring hits and all i can suggest is dont come to work here.. They brought in a new d.o.n. who is suppose to be cleaning all the mess up back here but she is just as bad as the rest. If you actually care for residents dont work here cause your not allowed to care.

I worked at this facility as a CNA and unfortunately, the resident to staff ratio, especially at night, was dangerously high  often 20+ residents per CNA. This made it nearly impossible to provide timely care, respond to call lights quickly, or complete required tasks safely. Staff were constantly overwhelmed and unsupported, with frequent supply shortages that made even basic care difficult.

Because of the extreme understaffing, I personally witnessed situations where residents did not receive the urgent care they needed  some of which contributed to avoidable deaths. It was heartbreaking and incredibly stressful as a caregiver trying to do the right thing with no backup.

I would not recommend this facility for employment unless serious changes are made to staffing, training, and support. The safety of both staff and residents should be a top priority, and at this facility, it wasn’t.

The work environment was extremely toxic. Management ignored staff concerns, punished people for speaking up, and rarely stepped in to help. Favoritism was common, and teamwork was almost nonexistent because everyone was burnt out and overwhelmed. Morale was constantly low, and it felt like no one cared about the well-being of either the staff or the residents.

The Owner has a true passion for Senior Living and Rehab.  However, the more this company grows - the worse the operation is ran.  This is not because they lack enough Senior Mgt (they are top heavy at the Senior level !  The Senior level mgt comes into the bldg. makes decisions which do not address the "root" of the problem - and never makes any headway in solving problems.  Their focus is "Profit, Profit, Profit"!!!!!  It is very sad to see what happens "underneath the tent"!!!!   They want to be the "Employer of Choice"!!!  Wow!!! They have a long way to go with lack of staffing - particularly Nsg which effects the whole bldg. when Nsg does not run effectively - then it effects everyone!
Families and Team members have stated what the real problems are
but Mgt has the same old song and dance - and the problems keep cycling around!  Some of the people in the Regional positions have a lot to learn about working with front line staff!!!!

Seems like a great place to work.  But don't let it fool you things change fast. Management does not support you at all. They don't have a good system for training when your hired, you more figure it out on your own as you go and they will be upset when you don't know something. The more you do the more they will ask of you and then not appreciative you and say your not doing enough etc. If your not apart of the "cool club" or in good with leadership  in there cave they never come out of then just know you wont feel safe in your job . Just save yourself the trouble and  stress .

 P.S- If you have kids or are going to have kids defiantly stay away because if you need to miss work at any time for that, they will make you feel like your and awful person. Yet they will let people they like bring there kids and dogs and not say a word. 

Working as a Mental Health Technician was one of the most rewarding yet challenging jobs I’ve ever had. Supporting patients through their mental health journey gave me a strong sense of purpose, and I learned a lot about compassion, crisis de-escalation, and patience. The hands-on experience taught me how to remain calm in high-stress situations and how to build trust with individuals in crisis.

However, I have to be honest — management was a major issue. Communication was poor, scheduling was often chaotic, and staff concerns were rarely taken seriously. Favoritism and lack of accountability made the work environment more stressful than it needed to be. Despite this, the teamwork among staff on the floor made a big difference. We leaned on each other to get through tough shifts.

If you’re passionate about mental health and can handle leadership flaws, the role itself is still incredibly meaningful.


HIllcrest lives their mission...enhancing the lives of the elderly.  It is a family type culture, which is awesome.  I felt proud to work for HIllcrest because of what they offer to the community.  They do need to make strides in the areas of infrastructure, policies, procedures, resources and people management.  They are aware they need to make changes and brought in a new CEO with experience working with larger elder care enterprises.  Hopefully, she will help them develop to catch up with what the Hillcrest enterprise has become and for desired future growth.

Management at the facility I worked at is very poor and does not care for their employees! There are no set rules and no one is held accountable to do their jobs. Any issues that may be brought up is always pushed aside and forgot about. There is no team work and everyone is out to get each other. It is a very stressful work enviorment. The workload that was pushed off on me was unrealistic with little pay. I was everyone's door matt . Work overtook my life and nobody would blink any eye when I asked for help. All Hillcrest workers are underpaid and they do not have competitive wages, their raises are a joke. They are always short staffed and will work their employees to the point of burn out.  I would not reccomend working here if you expect to have a life outside of work and any peace of mind.

Very poor management is the main reason for high turnover rate.  Seldomly received lunch breaks but was forced to work off the clock, always short handed, never appreciated, favoritism, low pay, and awful building manager.  Don’t bother following the chain of command because if will bite you in the butt!  I highly recommend that you do NOT work here.  The company is money hungry and will always open another facility even though they can’t staff their buildings.  Too many agency workers take away from budget so regular employees lose out!

Working at Hillcrest was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in my 10 years of being a CNA. Multiple times I have worked understaffed alone in the cottage and the management had refused to find help in a proper timeframe. Management often likes to turn their head the opposite direction when a problem is presented to them. The cottage guides that are supposed to be in the cottages during working hours are never there. Nothings really organized within the cottages. There’s not a lot of training to make sure that people are properly doing their job. They hire a lot of teenagers who are under qualified to do their role as a builder assistant. And there’s never really an open door type of environment.
