A typical day starts with a well laid plan made the day before and a weekly and monthly plan secured.  Without the character to thrive in a stressful environment you may reconsider your options here.  Being able to prioritize, multitask well, and refocus because of constant interruption without getting frustrated is a skill best mastered before hand.  A good typing speed, computer and communications skills are an asset you'll be glad you have when you spend your time on the computer and phone daily.  Because of this you will be sitting 8 hours (at least) a day.  

Management is polite and the co-workers are friendly.  The most difficult part of the job for me is the physical aspect of sitting for long periods at a time, 8-10 hours/day.  The lure that this job offers a great deal of autonomy is easily misunderstood.  It would be advisable to thoroughly understand the requirements by which this autonomy is accessed.  

The most enjoyable aspect of my job is the contact I have with my  patients.  When I know that I have helped someone in some way, in anyway at all, it's the best part of my day and makes it's all worth while.

I really loved working at Hines and Associates for the two and a half years that I was an employee there. I worked in the Utilization Review intake department (a call center) and answered phones from doctors offices and hospitals. My responsibilities were to enter patient demographic information into the computer system and then transfer the call to the appropriate Utilization Review nurse for medical pre-certification. The management at Hines was very effective and supportive. We worked at a very fast pace, as many calls were received every day and we had to stay on top of them, but the friendly and supportive atmosphere made it easy to do this. My co-workers were wonderful, and although there were many very different personalities, we all got along very well. I would say that the hardest part of my job was really just at the beginning when I first started, having to learn the new skills I was required to know and using these skills quickly and efficiently. After I got into the swing of things, however, one of the most enjoyable parts of my job was the feeling of accomplishment at the end of a busy day.

Loved it in the beginning but only stay due to the hours & money now. Although contemplating leaving at this time. Have seen very poor treatment of other employees, mostly disrespect by TL, gossip, lack of confidentiality. Daily work can be very stressful if specific time goals are not met, so 8hr day turns into 10hrs very quickly. Productive evaluated more by supervisors in money saved for clients than patient satisfaction.  Be prepared to "bend the truth" when trying to show clients savings. Or "soft" savings as TL will call it, but in all honesty it's lying and the lack of ethics by leadership is disheartening. See a lot of turnover for a reason. They'll boost being the best in the industry, but have just found the right formula for manipulating it.

Hines is a great place to work! It's very fast paced and you'll need to be able to multi-task and stay organized. I've been here 6 years and plan to retire here. It's a positive work environment and everyone is so helpful. We have many offices,  not sure which offices the other reviews were from,  so I guess the environment depends on that,  but my experience has been positive. It does require a lot of sitting,  but you're able to get up and go for a quick walk whenever you can.  Some nurses invested in a standing desk,  which helps, too. Case management is certainly not the job for everyone, but I love it.  It fits my personality to a T. They offer bonuses and incentives. There's opportunity for advancenent, too.

A typical day at work consists of phone calls and interruptions.  You will never met a patient only speak on the phone.  You will learn about the health insurance, SSDI and requirements for procedures.  Co-workers are okay depending.  The hardest part about the job is lack of communication between management and staff.  Management continuously changes their mind and does not communicate with case managers.  There is nothing enjoyable about this job, you went to nursing school to help, not provide phone conservations.  Poor pay and benefits.  Much better places to work.

Make sure you don’t request any days off during your 6 month probation period! Training was great but this place is not where you want to work if you’re sick with COVID or family is sick. No one knows the policy here! I had a 3 month evaluation just to tell me they’re extending my 6 month probation but hey your doing great. My partner got COVID and they wouldn’t wait for my test results so they fired me. Turns out I tested positive too. They’ll expect you to come to work! Stay away from this place 

I have proudly worked for Hines for over 10+ years.  The atmosphere is fast paced and customer orientated.  Hines is a diverse organization with a group of kind hearted individuals.

The compensation & benefit package here is competitive and well worth the longevity.

I have had the opportunity to wear man hats here and have learned a great amount from my department head.

I loved my job at the beginning however I found out quickly that my Supervisor is a gossip and prefers to chatter all day than to actually assist her team with needs. Pay among staff with same work load and credentials varies significantly. Some unethical business practices noted. Considering leaving.

Answering busy phone lines to create intake file for Utilization Review.  Small office.  Hardest part of the job is when a caller does not know the patient information that is needed, such as the patients insurance coverage, patient demographics, and the MD and Facility that a procedure is schedule to be at.  Most enjoyable part of the day is knowing I was efficient and timely in creating patient intake files.
