Hippocrates Health Institute

My time at Hippocrates Health Institute is one I will never forget and always hold dear.  The facility, much like a large campus with many different facets, was a center for education and healing for both guests and staff alike.  On site: it was strictly raw-vegan, with emphasis on educating all staff and guests on the benefits of detoxification, wheat-grass, blue-green algae, sprouting, juicing, colon hydrotherapy, raw vegetables, the dangers of sugar and toxins, and what you can do to heal from the inside out.  My time was spent guiding patients, phone sales...as the Lead for the wholesale department, web-store management, expressing my passion for what we do, selling herbal plant-based supplements in person and by phone.  The feed-back and remarkable stories from our staff and guests were life-changing and will never be forgotten.  Part mental health, physical health, and spiritual health: reaching the goal of optimal wellness.  "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." - Hippocrates

That's the motto! And they do just that. They teach people how to live a raw vegan lifestyle and how to implement this lifestyle in their every day lives once they leave Hippocrates. This is a great place to work, employees are able to eat free while working, receive a discount on meals when not working and receive up to 50% off most of the services provided.

I notice a few comments stated "no room for growth" but I believe there is always room for growth. They like to promote from within when they see the right person with the right skill set, everybody can't get promoted if you just don't have the skills needed for the job. I have seen employees start and within a few months, they are recognized as a great leader and promoted to a supervisor or lead. 

Management turn over is not that common, most of the managers have been there for a very long time. I think the salaries are pretty competitive and the health insurance is very competitive. Great place to work!

Beware of the EVP and the upper management, they do not have the  best interest of the employees in mind. They will preach that they value their employees but at the end of the day, if the company is not making money, you may not have a job no matter how good you are. 

The owner of the company fake man who carries his ego in his hair. He barks orders but doesn't take a moment to investigate what goes on in his company. He listens to what everyone says rather than do the research. Many of the guests and customers had terrible things to say about him since he offends so many with his religious and political views. -- He is supposed to be a talented speaker but his mouth is the problem!

You may be promised advancement, word of wisdom, ensure you get it in writing otherwise you will not be given what was promised.

The employees are incredible, they hire the most amazing people...who unfortunately get  screwed over most of the time.

A lot of room for improvement, while a non profit with a target niche business they focus on selling a dream to very sick people. If you don’t align with there values then you’re wrong. If you’re seeking advancement there is none, I worked with no HR representative for over 8 months and the two years I worked here they had HR people quitting or getting fired all the time, this was a huge red flag for me on compliance. I was told by the director I had more formal education than he did and they still refused to give me an extra 0.25 cent or any true incentive.  I went above and beyond and not once was there a thank you. The hardest part was watching people with cancer throw their life savings into the program only to hope they get better I feel as though the board is profiting off of the sick people and selling a cult like remedy to the masses even though no one here is truly practicing medicine. 

I loved working for this company for many reasons. This facility was directed by two warm and dedicated individuals, who believed in the power of plants and holistic living. They work all over the world promoting their beliefs on the vegan diet and how living food can help to maintain a healthy well being and even diminish signs of illnesses. I loved working at the front desk, however I disliked how understaffed and overworked this department was. It was ran with heart and drive, but it's underlying mal-trained and unorganized root forced me to peruse other career endeavors. If I had the opportunity to go back within a different department, I WOULD. It was a great place to be, but unfortunately with the way the front desk was ran at this particular establishment, as I said before, it was simply time for me to leave.

I don’t always review companies or places I’ve worked, but Hippocrates Health Institute deserves some recognition for the work they do. They truly care about the health and well-being of anyone associated with them, from patients to employees. 
What really stood out to me was that they encouraged their employees to lead a healthy lifestyle, and they gave everyone the recourses to nourish their bodies with healing foods instead of the usual terrible, inflammatory food that’s provided to workers. I know this may sound like a small thing, but that extra bit of effort showed how serious they were about holistic health. 
Overall, working at Hippocrates Health was an incredible experience, and I’m thankful that I got to be a part of their team.

If you like your medical license, don’t work here. They don’t care about it.
They talk about being a family then you don’t get to see your actual family due to no time off.
Massive turnover - (fear based) major red flag. They treat hourly people like seasonal workers, lay offs in summer or for lame reasons.
If they aren’t making enough money, they cut hourly workers hours to reduce cost while the owners still make their millions without a thought of cutting their pay. 
Pay is low, and if you put in the hard work for years to make an average salary, they look to lay you off.

If you hold a medical license DO NOT WORK HERE !!! Management is run by individuals who don’t have a degree nor have some of them garduated high school . The environment is a cut throat environment. When you are SOMEBODY outside of work they will find everything to sabotage you .. from school to work . The only great thing I can say is that the health ed director is a sweet lady and the individuals who work in the garden as very nice . It has the potential to be a great place but the individuals at the top will get rid of those they feel are competition .

The positives about working here are the employees, the guests, the free food but that’s about it. The atmosphere is negative and management is power hungry and it creates a hostile work environment with gossip and back-stabbing. Don’t let yourself get sucked into the cult-like culture and find a new company that actually cares about people.

Daily work onsite 9am - 6:30pm or later, sometimes 7 days a week. Systems, computer and other are poor and need serious upgrading. Management is poor and very demanding, no appreciation for hard work. Work place culture is fear based. Very stressful workplace with little time off and high expectations placed on employees. Great location and work surroundings, albeit with no time to enjoy the benefits offered.
