I knew from day one when my "trainer" was talking about patients terribly behind their backs and also talking poorly about other coworkers behind their backs that this was going to be a terrible job. "Training" was a joke. Very minimal with a  "so what/not my problem/figure it out" attitude.

Tons of  DRAMA, petty attitudes, and back-stabbing from office staff, management, and nursing staff. Like high school... except with patient's medical needs on the line. 

Management was stretched too thin to keep things under control and showed extreme favoritism for a few employees who seemed to be untouchable.

Extremely high office staff turnover due to the toxic environment, patient load, and low wages. 

Some providers and nurses were excellent and truly caring professionals, but some were just as bad as the rest of the office staff when it came to talking about patients and other employees behind their backs.
 
If you decide to work here: trust nobody, talk to others as little as possible, keep your head down, don't express an opinion about anything, and  don't expect to be rewarded or praised for hard work. No pats on the back here, just knives. 

Management/HR needs to focus on hiring more mature employees and increasing pay, offering raises, etc. to retain them. This would decrease the drama. As one provider said to me, when you pay peanuts, you employee monkeys. 

I can honestly say this is the worst office I have ever worked in. Knowing what goes on behind the scenes, I will never be a patient at HMG again.

I worked in the sleep lab. I've never worked for a place that has made me physically sick to come into work as this place. Management is terrible; they don't care about you or your well being at all. Communication is non-existent as well. Pay is lowest in my area for my job title. I have five years experience and I was making more when I was at my three year mark! PTO is a joke; if you're out sick, they use your PTO without your consent. There are NO unpaid sick days. So, if you've used up your PTO and you get sick, plan on coming into work or working extra to make up for that day, or in my case, night. We were always short staffed and I honestly got tired of working my butt off without a "Thank you", so I stopped going the extra mile; if they don't care, why should I? My job requires constant attention to it, but we were made to clock out for lunch, even though we can't actually leave our desks due to the nature of the job. Upper management is clueless as well! Favoritism is rampant too and forget pay raises. Moral is extremely low my department and I've already got one foot out the door. I can't stand this place and I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. I'm only here for a paycheck!

HMG is interested in one thing. Making money. They will put you and your loved ones at risk if it means having to proactively spend money. We have endangered multiple families and babies and it is all swept under the carpet by leadership.  Employees that oppose these decisions are quickly silenced.  I am looking for another job and so are many others currently employed in NC as it is not worth our licenses. Novant was not perfect however they were 1000 times better than this new group of hillbillies that are trying to turn healthcare back 50 years. They are the absolute worst company to work for and their pay and benefits are not competitive with this market.  If you are just out of school and have no experience you may consider working here but as a patient remember that is all they are willing to hire and for less money than the competition, so that is who is taking care of you.  They force us to use sub-standard equipment that they might as well be purchasing off of ebay.

HMG has been around for over 40 years. HMG is a thriving physician group NOT owned by a hospital. That's an attestation that they are providing quality care, exceeding patient expectations, and building lasting relationships that keep the patients coming back. The bad reviews seem like sour grapes to me. 
HMG offers competitive healthcare benefits (medical, dental, and vision), 401k matching, paid vacation time and sick time. I've worked with management from various departments, all of which are very supportive of each other. HMG expects its employees to offer the highest level of customer service to both patients and coworkers. NO company is without "issues", but it has been my experience that HMG mgmt listens and does it's best to remedy any negative situations.  Hard workers with good work ethic are almost always groomed for leadership roles within the organization.  If you are considering applying for a position, I encourage you to do so!

Worked for HMG for over 9 years and they are the most unorganized corporation I have ever seen. It keeps getting worse. They will hire anyone with a piece of paper to hang on the wall and is willing to accept the low pay. They make the MDs see pt every 15 minutes so therefore serious conditions get overlooked. They are more interested in "Looking Good" than giving good care they are a revolving door because they can't keep people once they are hired and see they have been lied to. HMG is more interested in Real Estate ??? have no idea why but .. oh well I was afraid after a while because you are constantly being asked to stuff that is immoral or illegal BUT if you get caught...you are own your own!!! I would rather flip burgers ..

Doctors rule the roost and have no respect NP/PAs at all. Doctors trying to see more patients in a day than humanly possible and give any kind of care.  Poor management, poor communication, selfishness and greed are rampant.  Pride themselves on "open communication",  want to improve morale.  This is a joke. Not a good work environment for mid-levels, or frankly for anyone except physicians. Always in fear for job.  THey are laying off employees regularly but only a few at a time so it is not newsworthy. Usually employees are long time employees making good wage- guess they can be replaced with someone cheaper? Just know it is NOT a good place to work, unhealthy work environment.

All employees are encouraged to volunteer in the community as much as possible, and set an example for our patients by being healthy as well. Taking care of our patients and their families are the positive, unfortunately the down side is when a patient passes. Over the last several years changes for advancement have improved as well as compensation. This year with Covid, everyone was accommodated if needed to work from home, voluntary furlough and at the end of year still was able to include all staff in bonuses, making some realize that staff regardless of role plays an important part.  

Great atmosphere to work in.  Managers readily willing to help.  Providers all very accessible with any questions and very kind and considerate to the staff as well as the patients..  Very busy office and personnel work very well together and help each other in caring for our patients.  My job is truly rewarding as I enjoy helping patients as surgery can be very scary at times and it is great to help patients achieve that goal of wellbeing and making their surgery experience as smooth and caring as possible.  I truly love my job and the physicians here have been amazing to work for and that is why I have stayed here for 45 years. 

The typical day working in family practice is very fast paced. I have a better understanding how much work is involved to assist patients in maintaining their health to avoid hospitalizations. Management works tirelessly to ensure offices are properly staffed. The hardest part of the job is not being able to help someone in need when there are limited recourses in the community. I love being part of the HMG family, it truly is a "family". Every person in my office goes above and beyond on a daily basis to assist patients or support one another and I appreciate them.  

My day started at 8 am. I did everything in the front office from checking in patients to checking out patients, answering the phones, tasking, entering new patients information, insurances, medical records, tasking, collect co-pays and post payments, schedule appointment, call patients to remind them of appointments and the office manager was useless and never around and her picks of the office stayed in her office instead of at there desk doing there job, there was no enjoyment at my job, never had a raise in 4 years.  You were never appreciated and there was never no chance of advancement
