The owners I worked with were super nice, caring, and flexible to work with if you need anything they helped. I really enjoyed working here. The downside is the pay rate for schedulers is way under the average rate, it's remote but the pay could be more for schedulers. That's the only reason why I left. Everywhere else offered their schedulers at least $15-20 an hour. If you had a call off last min and can't find someone then you have to go fill that shift as a caregiver, no mileage reimbursement. Some days I had to drive to 2-3 clients to cover shifts. Worked there for a year and no pay raises, also why I left. The owners are sweethearts but for people who have been there for a couple of years take advantage due to not being disciplined for calling off and no call no shows, they would still have a job and be offered help multiple times. I believe if they allowed the management team members to reinforce their guidelines it would eliminate the call offs, no shows, and being talked to disrespectfully by vet employees.  Being on-call and not being paid for it unless your called out or have a phone call then clock in for an hour even though you don't make any plans for the on-call days so your available and stay by the phone and computer. I wish there had been like at least $100 pay for being on call for a weekend. The scheduling role is great work and I loved it. If they paid more and didn't require schedulers to go out and fill shifts, along with confronting conflict to discipline employees and letting their schedulers do it for all employees not just the non-vet ones, I'd still be there. One more thing is one vet scheduler came back from retirement or something after a couple of years and she made sure to tell you when she talked to you what her position was and she's your boss and how she has had conflict with previous schedulers, and I have seen why really quick. I'm not sure why people let their ego's and them being in a management roll get to their heads. That was very unprofessional. It's a workplace, everyone is an adult and know their positions. There is no need in telling people every time you talk to them that you can fire them if you want and how you handled previous employees the same way.  I believe they would've had more clients and caregivers if it weren't for that behavior being tolerated and if the pay rate was more, they'd grow more. Great job though if that scheduler isn't there anymore go for the position and the caregiving ones their good jobs and the owners will always be flexible with you and work with you. 

What I enjoy most about the job are the clients. The management however is very unpredictable. They are the lowest paying company in Dayton@12-13.00hr(depending on who you know) They claim that they give you "BONUSES" to compensate for the low starting rate, but the 'bonuses' are discretionary. Ex. #1.  They give an 'on time 'bonus'. Let's say your supposed to clock-in at your clients house at 5:00. If you clock- in there at 5:05..., just once, in a 30 day period, they take away the 'bonus' for the entire month because your car broke down or your babysitter was late. Ex. #2 Call off..another 'bonus' gone. They do things like that to keep your paycheck at the basic rate of  12- 13.00 an hour and keep the rest of the money for the 6 staff members. Which by the way they charge each client 38-45.00 an hour, which adds up to 912.00- 1,080.00 a DAY that the company takes home for a 24 hour client. An aide that works 12 of those hours takes home 144 -156.00 base pay of that 1000.00. From what I understand they have about 20,  24 hr. clients. So the 'bonuses' really keep the money in the company's pocket not yours. Over time you will find that the 'bonuses' are harder to get than they make them appear to be. We are not children. They need to stop treating our money as if it were an allowance instead of work. In summary, there are better paying companies out there that pay a fair wage without playing games with your paycheck or your livelihood. I'm definitely getting out of there as soon as possible, my mental stability is more important than a job.
Pss. Watch your paycheck very carefully..Because he conveniently "forgets " to pay you for time worked until you "remind" him and then they put it in your next check. If you say nothing you'll never see it!+

This company mainly appeals to full time employees who have no medical experience because the idea is to keep the number of caregivers a client sees to a minimum. A lot of what you do is companion care. But if you have any medical experience at all, you will be placed with clients who need a lot. Some of that medical care should not be done without a nurse's supervision(at least a monthly check up by a nurse), and seeing as the care managers are not nurses and the caregivers are also not nurses, it is not ethical or safe to put the caregivers and clients in these situations. 

I think for this company to be successful they need to care for their part time employees(especially those who have medical experience)more. Make sure that your part timers are getting a full schedule on the days they are available.This company tried to spread me as thin as possible-giving me 3-4 hours a day on the days I was available when I was available all day on those days.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very disorganized poor communication with scheduling a client. The office staff were very rude. No training for clients you work with. The scheduler sheri will schedule you at times you specifically said you could not work or she would call a hour before you were to get off to inform you that the next staff would be two hours late it was frequently happening to the point we're I told her not to schedule me with unreliable staff who are chronically late. They have A high turnover rate because it's not management is not trained appropriately to be in that position.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The office staff poor communication skills ,lack of experience in there positions and bad attitudes.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very stressful if you don't have a client you don't have work. They don't explain this when you are Hired.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Unpredictable you may not be told your client doesn't not need service that day.

I really enjoyed working for Home Care Assistance of South Carolina. The team leaders were excellent and always available if needed.

The company didn’t create stress. Pay wasn’t the best but there was no added stress.

My goal was to offer the excellent service and care for our clients. The local office and corporate office supported and rewarded the caregivers in our efforts. Caregivers met monthly for education and team building.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Ensuring my clients were cared for with respect and love. Medications were given on time and recorded in our daily notes. Some clients needed memory care activities and service. Company provided activities were implemented.  Cooking and some light housework was required. Everything our clients engaged in was recorded in our “client binders.”

Im very big on communication for work and HomeCare has the best communication i have ever seen. They are very caring to their employees, and clients. I have been in this field since i was 16, and out of all the places i have worked, this company is by far my favorite. The management is amazing, they listen and work with you on things you need. They do what they can to give you a schedule that you need. I would recommend working for this company. I assure you would not be disappointed. I wake up and im excited to go to work. Cant say that about most jobs, but with this job and this company, i can say that it definitely is a job i look forward to each day.

I love being a caregiver. Helping others maintain their quality of life in their own homes is very satisfying.

They hired me as full-time, but never delivered any substantial hours. Plus the clients they did give me were completely out of a reasonable travel boundary

We work alone w client, so that's not much of an issue. However, support was not provided when I did ask for assstance. Management wasn't available. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go to clients house, and complete the care plan they have established with the company. Very often there would be additional requests for specific chores or tasks on any given day. Also required to document completion of work using log book, etc

I've had good and bad experiences working for Home Care Assistance. A typical day at work would have to depend on the clients needs. Sometimes you'll need to prepare meals, assist the client in restroom, light house keeping, and activities to keep them busy. Working for HCA I'ved learned a lot different diseases and disorders. I've had the opportunity to work with lots of different disabled clients and i was able to learn the proper meals, care, and other needs for the client. Sometimes the hardest part the job was lifting or transferring the client. I enjoyed spending time with the clients and learning a lot about them and their life. A client that I have worked for in the past told me a lot and it was very interesting to hear about all the places that the client has traveled and everything the the client had done in his/her life.

Office staff is the worst part. They don’t communicate with each other, and are wishy washy with their attitudes and respect towards you. Try to treat you like company property. Lies to the client about you, and then to you about the client.  The clients care plans can range from up to date, to completely incorrect, and you going in blind. No introduction to your client, and are just thrown in. They offer no training except for a “advanced care class” where you’re shown to transfer. If you didn’t already know how to do that, care giving isn’t for you. You may be  Working behind the laziest caregivers. Basic tasks not completed, ie: trash, dishes, client needs, etc. The clients are typically respectful people, but there are always a few bad apples in every bunch. Your pay is not a livable wage.
