Most of your average everyday workers at Inficon are great, from your assemblers to your engineers. A lot of good people work there. Teamwork is great. But management is terrible. Just because someone is a good engineer / technician does not mean they will make a good manager / supervisor. This realization is missed by Inficon. But despite the poor management they seem to do well because their base of the company, the average Joe,  holds the company together. Pay is middle of the road. Raises are below to slightly below the norm. Opportunity to grow for a select few only. Most, not all, who have been there 10+ years have become jaded. This creates a negative atmosphere and uncomfortable work environment. Overall it is a good company to work for short term, but I would not recommend staying long term. Get in, work a few years, then take your experience and move on to a place with more opportunity to grow and that is more stable.

INFICON is a hidden treasure of Syracuse.  It is a great place to work.  There have been cultural changes for the better!  Management is always encouraging growth and learning.  The Company provides opportunities to participate in charity events for the community and offers wellness programs.  The benefits are competitive and pay is decent.  I enjoy work that is challenging and since I have stated I am constantly learning new things.  I love how management is open to listening to different ways of doing things. They also encourage open communication and feedback. The only downside is how long it takes to grow in the Company since there are few opportunities.

Pros
This is the type of workplace where your title may say one thing, but you actually do many other things as well. There is quite a bit of overlap but this just opens the door for opportunity to grow into positions that don't even exist. That's saying a LOT since this is also the type of company where the average time people have worked here is beyond 10 years!

Cons
The only thing close to a "con" is keeping in mind that this company is worldwide. So even though you work in the Lichtenstein location or Syracuse-NY, you have to keep in mind there are many people that are needed to make corporate level decisions.

Advice to Management
Keep providing opportunity to those that are worthy!

The management was informative and on the ball and all had clear and respectful communications with fellow employees. HR was always helpful if a need or question arose and for my interaction was always polite. My job was educational and a constant fast pace most of the time. Multiple jobs at one time which I enjoyed and making sure every product was scanned and recorded in a timely manner. Over all the best job I ever had.

I learnt a lot from this company and usually enjoyed the tasks that were given. However, they will easily replace you (just like any company) if you don't meet their demands. I would advise only working there temporarily as there's a very low chance of getting any promotion. I know a lot of employees, including myself who know various different departments and excel in them who yet to be rewarded. The people there are definitely two faced so be wary, may seem nice to you but will definitely degrade you behind your back.

This is the company for you if you need a job that provides no work life balance.  If you would love working for managers who don’t care about your heavy workload, but who make sure to pile more work on, this is the right fit for you.  It’s not uncommon to put in hard work and still be told you aren’t doing enough.  Communication is a joke as well.  If you think about talking to management about your concerns, you’re told you’re the problem.  Steer clear.  Seriously.


Inficon does not advance employees unless they have a 3.0 average. They do not reward experience or knowledge, they only look for college degrees. It's a great company if you have a lot of outside activities. They have a great vacation policy as well as a great sick time and personal time policy. As a whole, their outdated practices will never change since everyone there with the power to change anything prefers not to.

INFICION provides a lot of flexibility to its employees regarding what they work on, where the work is performed and time off. Where they could improve is coaching management to really think about the suggestions made by others before completely dismissing them, especially when INFICON is really trying to push a culture of being open and providing feedback.

What really makes this job special is the people. Right from day one, I was struck by how friendly and talented everyone was. Leadership is supportive and genuinely puts effort into building a positive culture. The work-life balance is pretty good, though some teams might feel the pressure a bit more at times. It’s a refreshing place to work if you’re looking for a company that truly values its people.

Even when work gets challenging, you don’t feel like you’re going through it alone. Leadership is open to feedback and really cares about making improvements where needed. There are definitely some high-pressure times when deadlines approach and that can be tough, but it’s all manageable. The work is interesting and keeps me engaged, and it’s clear that the company values both employee growth and well-being
