Honestly one of the worst jobs of my life and worst labor union in the state of Nevada. No one truly cares what skills you have. They only care about who you're related to or how attractive you are. A lot of really young people have a lot of the easy jobs because they're sleeping around with management.

The pay is great hourly, too bad you will never get enough work to even make a living. There were months where I only made $150 because I wasn't getting calls. Even when I worked a lot last year, I had too many people treat me like I was brand new even when I had my blue union badge on my chest.

Union representation doesn't exist. The employers we work for can slave drive you and force you to work outside of what you're dispatched as. Especially at the Venetian. It doesn't help that the representatives sold us out with garbage contracts.

I had fun working here, but with the lack of back up from unsafe work practices, the lack of work that wouldn't even be able to pay for the crappiest apartment in Vegas. I'd stay away unless you're young and want to make some beer money while you look for a real trade like construction. I heard 797 has a really strong union.

basically, your days are NEVER exactly the same, but generally, we do repeat installs for conventions and concerts. The best part of this union is the training they give you to complete tasks out in the field. Workplace culture is pretty laid back and fun. Management for the most part is professional and understanding, as long as you do your job, there's usually no issues with the stewards. I do, however, NOT agree with the hall sending out or backing a designated political party, it should NOT be pushed onto anyone, and considering most 'bounce' employees do not work ALL YEAR, yet we pay dues weekly, and quarterly for stamps, yet we spend  a substantial amount of time either on unemployment, or seeking additional employment when there isn't much convention work happening.

Hiring hall union.  
Work is what you make of it.  When you work hard and get along well with others and continually learn the new tech you naturally and easily advance.  There are limitless possibilities. 
When you slack off and just do enough you can still get open calls  and maybe make enough to pay minimal bills.  
The entertainment industry in las vegas can be a great balance between work and life but only if you have the right mindset.  

Highest rates in Vegas, tons of work available once you get your name known as a good A1. Mostly corporate, but if you have the skill set you can do music acts pretty often too. Film is about to blow up here so that’ll be a huge growth for us too. There’s money to be made and skills to learn here, the sky is your limit.

To anyone new reading this;
networking is a very normal aspect of our industry, it’s not “favoritism” or “cliques” as people claim. It’s normal to only request/book people you know and trust before taking in randoms. Cheers!

The work is always exciting under IATSE Local 720. Every day the work load was different and you'd meet new people along the way. Many experienced workers who, for the most part, enjoy giving newcomers advice and tips on the trade. The opportunities to learn and explore other fields within the Union are available if you look for it and everyone is encouraging of pursuing what field fits you best. Lots of travel and different events, you'll never be bored!

You have to be union and it takes time to get all the training needed.

Long days and clients that want things perfect

People  get into clics so watch for that

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You never know  what you might need to do next very busy

Good job to have if you know the right people really more a who you know type of job haven’t really had enough work have to try to enroll into the classes but soon as they post a class some how it fills up quick and you need those classes to earn your certificates the more you have the more work you receive but it’s so hard to get in those classes been with Iatse since 2015 only got in one class so far.

This is a great place to for,  if you like working with your hands then this is for you.  The pay is great with flexible work hours. Opportunities to go into multiple fields to expand your career. Retirement offered along with insurance. 

Our hall is under some pressures of scrutiny.. only due to Some property positions and setting ‘full time’ employees into those positions- just seems like there’s not enough ‘spreading the wealth’ around... seems like certain guys get work, while some employees don’t get work... not sure exactly how this happens, but I think the blue cards should be working BEFORE ‘ LOR’ yellow cards

The more you work, the more you will work. Get known as a good tech and reliable person with customer service savvy, and you will work as much as you want- as long as the economy hasn't cratered..
