A typical day at work would be settling in during the morning, gathering together current work duties needing to be executed in a timely fashion and following up on current issues and/or resolutions. During my time at Independence Care System I have learned so much but the most important value I have learned is we are all a family; from staff to our clients. The importance of someone's health and well being is top priority. I have also learned how to be more patient with those who are in physical need and have a daily challenge in their lives. Independence Care System has broaden my, once then, limited knowledge of people with disabilities and I truly value this company for working so tirelessly to make those people independent in our community. Our management provides a very safe, stress-free and flexible working environment that allows staff to continue putting their best foot forward to, again, maintain our clients as independent and hospital-free as possible. Everything about working at Independence Care System is enjoyable and the only hardest part of this job is not being able to do more for our clients in the moment it is needed. We strive to go above and beyond, and then some. Independence Care System is a Managed Medicaid Long-Term Care Plan like no other MLTC Plan out there. I am proud to be a part of a non-profit organization that has truly impacted the lives of all our 6000+ members.

Working with staff at current location is a relaxed warm culture. We are all extremely busy assisting a complex disabled population of ages 18 and older.   Every is eager to accommodate and coordinate care at our MLTC.  Our CEO and VP are very compassionate about offering extraordinary services,supplies, DME and contractual providers to offer security and comfort for our over 5,000 members.  

As a SW Care Manager, I begin my day working from home approximately two days per week.  Telephone contacts, IDT Care Planning meetings, coordination of services whether member is living in the community or permanent placement in SNF.  Visits while members are hospitalized to offer support.  Communication with SW, Doctors and Coordinators at Hospital to coordinate a proper discharge back to the community.  Offering DME and DMS to provide security and comfort upon discharge.  Family meetings, ancillary contacts to offer knowledge of services whether diagnosistic, laboratory, radiology, imaging etc. 

I am simply rewarded when the coordination of service/parts of a puzzle have been completed and my member is overwhelmed with content.

Independence Care System (ICS) is nonprofit organisation, that serves people with variety of physical disability. ICS allowed me to help people who needed services. I was helping people to plan and manage their health, i have helped them identify and priorities their needs and coordinated their services with other agencies and people. At the end of the day i feel so proud when my members call me and thank me for the support I provide to them. Even though I tell them this is my job and I am being paid for that, they keep saying that what I do is comes from heart and that they feel it. This makes me happy. 

I learnt that you treat others the way you want to treat yourself, with respect and dignity. 

Our management is honest and straight forward in their feedback, respectful, they motivate us by praising the good work we have done and help us improve in the areas that we need to develop. 

The organization is very diverse and I love it. Everyday you are learning about people, cultures and traditions. 

The hardest part of the job is to satisfy our members to the fullest. It was very important not to get stressed out by the amount of work and priorities, but to stay focused on a job. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is to be able to provide quality service.

Independence Care System (ICS) is a non-profit organization that manages the care of people that are disable and chronically ill. They have service this population for over 12 years.  The mission is to have the members live independently within the community. When they started they had 40 employees and now they have over 248 employees and is still hiring.  In the beginning most of the members were in wheelchairs, now you have members that walk with a mobility devices, Wheelchairs, and seniors. 

A typical work day consist of maintaining a relationship with network providers, develop a relationship with prospective provider, and problem solving provider's concerns.

the most enjoyable part of the job is meeting new people learning different languages and giving presentations to new providers.

Co-worker are helpfully and the department work as a team. Our mission and common goal is to make sure the members needs are met.

The rewarding thing about management is communication. all of leadership from supervisor to President communicates with one another and also teaches us how to communicate with line staff.

The amount of new enrollments and population that's been service has changed.  The amount of enrollment coming in is overwhelming to the staff.  

The Manager's that have been there for over 10 years continue to strive to  guide staff and are approachable.   President has an open door policy!

For most part everyone is friendly and willing to help new staff.  The organization has change in the recent years.  It has always been about change but now it seems to be shifting.  

The hardest part of the job is getting a clear answer on guidelines from every department. Maybe is because they are changed too often, as soon as all the staff have communicated on how is to be done an new guide line is presented.

The most enjoyable part of the organization is the staff!

Some context for this review: I was fired because COVID hit the company hard and they couldn't support my position anymore. With that said, I would recommend this place to literally anyone is considering it. I still send send applicants their way on a regular basis. When I have the opportunity I still recommend this place to patients on a regular basis. It's actually hard to put into words exactly why the company is as good as it is, except to say that the management and employees really, actually, no joke BELIEVE in what they are doing. Unless you've worked in a similar place you can't understand what it's like to be in an environment like that. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working under your own supervision and in the clients own homes. It’s less stressful and more relaxing.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The clients going into a higher care living facility or passing away. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good.  Working in clients homes is better than any facility 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very relaxing once you get to know the clients and their needs.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was the pay. Even though it still wasn't at the pay for HHA'S. We were paid at every week. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
2 weeks before Thanksgiving 2023, I was not contacted by my coordinator with information for a new client. I was not contacted till Jan. 4 of 2024.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Confusion and unorganized. Very unprofessional. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It could be irritating and not without some confusion.

It was a very stressful work environment. Some of the charge nurses were great but some of them could be rude, hateful, and lazy.
CNAs are overworked and very unappreciated. Be prepared to work a double shift if someone from the next shift does not show up, it's not the exception it is the norm. Also, the person decided to stay for the double shift will have a lot to do with who is friends with who. The other CNAs did not work as a team instead they were aggressive and extremely competitive. 
I learned a lot from this job but overall it was a negative experience. 

I was a medical SW/CM, enjoyed working for this organization; a fast paced work environment,  average caseload per a cm is reasonable. Learned a lot of clinical information, was happy to make a difference in the lives of the members of the org. Unfortunately MLTC shut down & a number of staff were laid off including me. There was no raise in the past 2 years & the company was struggling financially. Lately it was very stressful to work here as the company was closing; most of the staff supportive and felt as they were like a family
