I have been here over 23 years.  I know IHC cares about all the employees and is always looking for new ways to convey this.  IHC believes and lives its mission statement, those are not just words.  When I scored work life balance lower that is not due to IHC, that is me not creating balance.  No matter the day or challenge I feel supported, I know I am heard, and at the end of the day I know we all are doing "the good deeds" that our patients/clients need and count on us to do!  We strive to provide support to our whole communities and welcome all thru our doors.  If we can find a way to help you ....we will do it!  The culture maintained by our leaders in one where employees are appreciated, their concerns are heard, solutions and/or compromises are sought out, rewards are given often and are significant rewards.  Are there challenging days?  of course....but getting thru those days, carrying on in our mission, makes all the work and/or stress worth it!  I will work here until I retire.  I, as a manager, will continue to seek ways to show appreciation, compassion, and to serve both the clients and my team members!  Our benefits are phenomenal (in our budget we run about 30-34% fringe rate, meaning your fringe is valued at 30-34% of your wage.  If you are offered a $10 an hour job with benefits you actually are receiving $13-$13.40 per hour!). IHC is always looking for the best benefits for the employees!

I worked here for just under a year and a half and found it to be the worst job I have had in the medical field. I found working for this company to be nothing but drama. I felt like it was like being in high school. There is favortism deffinantly going on. Management dont do any type of investigations into complaints. If you are a favorite they take you word without a second thought and if your not a favorite then you will in the end be blamed and called the problem. The management on all levels have called employees in appropriate names such as toxic. They have no compassion for your personal life. In order to call of sick they expect you to call off 24 hours in advanced or be pointed. When saying something about this policy I was told they find it very lenient. In over 10 years of working have never had to call off more then 4 hours in advance. Who knows they will be sick 24 hours in advance. If you miss any work you are required to take PTO. This even includes if they put you off. I was made to take a covid test because of not feeling well. The rapid test came back negative but this was not enough they made me take a what theu call PCR covid test which they send to a lab and I had to be off till the results came back. This took up my PTO right before the holiday. Then you are required to take PTO for the holiday and if you dont have enough to covor you get pointed. I love this companies mission statement but no one follows it. They have no compassion for there employees. 

It is essential to protect the health of millions of people everyday in the medical field. In the coming years we can expect an increase in demand for the health care field. That being said the position of any health organization is under great pressure and the best way to relieve the pressure is working as a team and join together. I believe this is team does the best they can to improve their systems by 
 preparing and investing where is spoke to need. Addressing the nurse shortage in meetings letting staff know it is hard but we are doing the best and it is worth it. Prioritise the safety of healthcare workers and using innovative ways of getting patient needs seen and address. Compile comprehensive and systematic health data by asking employees to please be creative bring ideas to the table, be woke and speak on concerns. 
This position is a beautiful way to learn the insight within a under privileged community and also multi family community seeking healthcare improve which is what it is all about! I enjoy the new challenge my job gives me and the experience I will take with me along other career opportunities.

Local management is  lacking any skill to manage personel. Extreme favoritism especially with particular groups. Front office personnel are barely given training and make repeated mistakes that are ignored and not corrected which directly affects the flow and production with providers.  Provider turnover is a constant problem due to in part to poor management and lack of consistency.  Most back staff were great to work with except for a few favourites that got away with lying and bullying. Bonuses rarely happened due to the unfair why it is set up. No one gets a bonus unless everyone does their job well...so the hard workers don't get their deserved bonuses due to the less than hard working fellow coworkers.  Corporate has no idea what is really going on there as no one wants to say anything for fear of retaliation.  You speak up, they will find a reason to get rid of you..no matter how rediculous it is. Hard work and loyalty means nothing. Pay is not equal to experience. If you want to work in a very unstructured, stressful environment where the rules change all the time and communication is poor and hard work is not recognized this is the place for you.

the first few months I understood why the turnover is so high. I was really excited to join this company. Anyone that is higher up is toxic and hostile to anyone who is not in their group of favorites. And the practice manager is extremely aggressive and hostile when having any talk with you. All the managers will gossip, start drama and talk bad about every employee in the office. Most of the employees are the same way. 
The back support staff are ran ragged. And then told they’re not finishing their work fast enough. The MAs can get 100 or more tasks assigned to them by their providers (ONTOP of everything else they do do daily) every week. And if you’re not a favorite they will tell you constantly you’re failing. And don’t let management know you need help cause you won’t get it but it’ll be held over your head.
Please just run away. There’s way better places out there to work for.



The company has an employee handbook,.talks about "the mission" yet no one in upper management/corporate follows their own behavioral recommendations.  If you have legitimate complaints, you must have a member of management to back your statements or you become "the problem". Nothing is confidential within HR/corporate.  Favoritism. Literally was told by upper management,  I don't care if you're upset/unhappy..  put a smile on your face and pretend. As an employee,  you're a money maker. Period. If you're ill, your kids are sick .. emergency, what have you, if you don't have enough pto to cover your time out, you receive a point, disqualified from bonus for the quarter, etc. If you want to work here, take heed and know that you can thrive if you pretend that wrong behavior is a.okay with you! 

Working for Indiana Health Centers has been such a great experience. It consists of multiple pediatricians, family medicine NP's, internal medicine doctor, behavioral health counselor, and OB/GYN NP. Therefore, this is the place to get all the experience you want and need. The past 3 years have been great, working side by side with a family nurse practitioner at our South Bend site and the past two years at our OakLawn site, where integrated health is provided to those with mental health illnesses. The most rewarding part of working for Indiana Health Centers is the positive feedback that patient's express at end of each visit and last minute phone call.

I absolutely love and miss the IHC team. The staff overall is great and the managers are more like friends. Business is done as it should be, but being able to work with a group that keeps you laughing throughout the day is great.  Of course everyplace has its cons, I would say dealing with some patients can be hard but you also have patients that can be so sweet. The pay should definitely be better but it is not horrible. Some of the providers are tough and demanding but tough love is also very rewarding! I knew what not to do after a certain point to keep them happy! 

Management is the ABSOLUTE WORST! Nurse manager Especially. The practice manager is somewhat tolerable. If the place were run by Anyone other than who they have now, maybe there Wouldn't be so many Fed up people who are willing to quit.

IHC encourages a work-life balance.  Most places talk about this but IHC is the only place I have been able to live it. Top leadership listens to every level of position and communicates well about enacted change. The mission at IHC of serving patients who are uninsured or underinsured makes my work here rewarding.  I am able to see the difference we are making in the community and in patient lives every day.  It circles back to work-life balance and feeling fulfilled when you leave work for the day.  I have challenges with my work load but it is never more than I can handle  and the challenges make me grow. I feel supported by top leadership to make decisions and to advance in my role.
