More often than not you will have to work over time to keep up with the workload or deadlines will be missed. Making work-life balance practically non-existent. Compensation is good IF you stay in the role you were hired for. When more responsibilities are added, typically because of lay offs or not wanting to add an extra employee to a team, you will not have an informed meeting before hand or given a chance to raise concerns about more being added to your plate. You're expected to do it without complaint or an increase in wages. There also isn't any explanation or time line on how a starting position could progress for promotion. Moreover there's a downfall of even if you do everything right employee recognition is non-existent unless moving into a more executive role. From what I've gathered employees feel pressured to come to work sick as to not use PTO. Benefits are sub-par or terrible compared to similar companies. Options are high deductible and you will be fighting the carrier for in-network visits. Touching on some of their core values, equal opportunity/ethics/integrity isn't really present and there's a lot of overheard derogatory statements pertaining to r asicm and ableism.
Overall the posting looks good on paper, but is drastically different in what they practice. The main principles they preach on their website and job opportunities are not practiced. 

A typical day at IPS is fast-paced and relationship-driven. I spend my time meeting with customers, offering solutions, and representing the IPS culture of excellence. I’ve learned the value of strategic selling, the importance of being responsive, and how to align customer needs with company capabilities. Management is supportive, providing the tools and trust to succeed. The workplace culture promotes collaboration, accountability, and growth. The hardest part of the job is balancing travel and time management, especially when juggling multiple accounts. The most enjoyable part is helping customers solve real problems while building lasting relationships. IPS truly empowers you to grow both professionally and personally.


There are a lot of promises being made at first and not being followed through after you worked hard for them for awhile. It is frustrating because as the Wind Energy industry grows bigger, that is when companies like this give less and less care for the backbone of their company, and that is their workers. I was hoping that IPS was different from most companies, but it is really disappointing to see that I was wrong. I would have love working for them more if they will just give more assistance to their technicians, especially those always out in the field. Because we work to earn both for the company and for ourselves. If they keep on stopping their technicians to do some overtime or weekend work just because they want to avoid paying more, despite having a large margin of profit every year, then that is just not fair. And also, it would be nice if they could at least assist with the air fares when we take our week off to fly to our families. I'm pretty sure they will have benefits too by booking flights, even the cheapest ones, for their technicians.

Be very careful when looking at this company for employment. The management is totally clueless as to what the workers are doing and why. The lack of managerial skills pushes everything back to the individual worker and pits workers against each other for the resources available to complete the job.
The complete lack of oversight for quality is horrific as is the safety culture.
Also there is union issues that may prohibit your continued employment there. Depending on what union management decides to put you in(no, you dont have a choice) your initiation fees may be as high a $1000 to join a union that has no clue as to what you will be doing.  Boilermakers union overseeing an electrical shop just doesn't make sense. They cannot represent you in any fashion, and wont.
If you dont care about your reputation, then work for I.P.S. 
But, if you do care, look elsewhere.

Incredibly disappointing experience. Disorganized  and often dismissive creating undervalued employee experiences.  Constant changes that don't work. Excessive work hours including when on PTO time. No work life balance adding to the frustration of reliable leadership or guidance. The hostile employees are promoted and bad behavior is encouraged as the hard workers leave out of frustration and disapointment. High turn over of employment. Major lack of communication unless you are certain individuals receiving preferential treatment. Overall combination of poor management, inadequate training and a toxic work culture makes this a workplace to avoid.  There are far better options out there that prioritize employee well being and development. 

The work is interesting and includes working on motors from 5 to 5000 horse power. These are large industrial units that weigh up to 40,000 pounds. When I first got hired, I used to describe it as kind of like working on battleships. IPS has a lot of potential. The individual shops, 21 in all, are still too loosely coordinated and often compete with or don't work well with each other. The entrenched management at IPS Denver is remarkably inept, hence my current job search. The infighting among supervisors resembles 1st graders trying to negotiate a hostage release on empty stomachs. Pay and benefits are decent but not enough to tolerate the toxic culture, and the commute.

Management doesn't fly out all technicians during their r and r, unless you are a lead which doesn't make sense since you are basically a team when you go out on the field and work on the same stuff. Management also pays some guys to use the work van to get to their own homes. Management also promises that sundays are paid double, but they actually discourage you to work on sunday. they scare the site that they are going to be charged double if they let the techs work, so the site don't let the techs work to avoid that. no job advancement. been with them for years and been doing the same thing. they do not take good care of their employees. no team building, no christmas party. not enough incentive for ALL their hardworking wind technicians.

Work day is very busy but flexible.
Learned a lot about AC and DC motors.
Management will lie directly to your face. Steal from your accounts to benefit themselves. Threaten staff below them. Lie to corporate and their customers.
The hardest part of the job is if you’re a new sales person, you don’t get much help from supervisor  when going afternoon account. MANAGEMENT has disrespected other managers of potential business that intern will prevent you from making your AOP..
The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting and building relationships with new people and growing business.

Absolutely terrible communication from management down.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Employees are very critical of the "new guys". Not a positive vibe to be had in the entire building. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Change of jobs 4-5 times (between machines and job functions) from shift start until management leaves for the day. No response from management when issues arise or questions need answered.


This company was once a great place to work, but its decline began around 2022 when IPS acquired multiple competitors. Since then, the quality of work and leadership has significantly deteriorated. The focus has shifted entirely to financial metrics, with little regard for employee well-being or realistic expectations. Meeting aggressive targets is celebrated, but falling short—even slightly—triggers intense scrutiny, regardless of past performance. The current operating plan sets unattainable goals, doubling expectations without providing additional resources, staff, or equipment to support them. This environment feels unsustainable and demoralizing.
