Integrated Wound Care

A typical day would be making sure you bill the most possible wound codes to make company money! Money is the main focus! Second would be making sure each building you service is VERY HAPPY. My job as a Nurse Practitioner was so put on a happy face and sell the company! Good luck trying to get a respectful text back from management. You’ll quickly be reminded all communication (even long extensive convo about or care will be via text). You’ll be told by management they are . “NOT on the phone kind of people.”  Get ready to onboard for 15 plus hours all unpaid and self taught billing and coding and get ready to text all your questions. Get ready to be told different Info about billing by all top company management. Some will say you can bill for 9 debridement codes, another manager will state 11 codes max and no one ever really knows. Not one single benefit, no vacation, no support for hard emotionally drainage cases. Scribes are the only great part of this job but get ready to pay them from your check. 

As an MA, you play a crucial role in our team. You work alongside experienced healthcare providers to provide top-quality care for patients with all types of wounds. Your excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well in a team are key to our success.

IWC is not a brick-and-mortar company. We serve nursing homes and rehab facilities in multiple states. Each MA is assigned to one or more facilities if they choose. We are responsible for taking notes for the provider and sometimes being hands-on with the patients. Even though I went to school to become a Certified Medical Assistant, I have learned more about the human body, infections, diseases, wounds, and the healing process than I could have imagined. I love meeting new people and developing relationships with them. IWC appreciates your hard work and dedication to the job.




What is the best part of working at the company?
I feel valued, respected, and like I’m making a difference for my patients. I love the flexibility, the pay, and the ability to use my procedural skillset. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of paid benefits such as retirement, PTO, health insurance. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very supportive and encouraging. A HIPAA compliant group chat is available 24/7 for questions about anything from diagnoses and treatment plans to billing and reimbursement questions. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Rounding at the facilities typically takes about 3 hours per site, with charting in the EMR at home afterwards. Charting typically includes reviewing any information entered in by the scribe, editing where needed, reviewing pertinent information or records from the nursing home charts, and signing/locking the note. I usually plan for about an hour of charting per facility seen that day.

Working for this company has made me feel 100% supported.  Although we work autonomously, ANY questions or concerns are addressed immediately by management and/or the medical director who is always willing to educate.  Wound care is a fascinating field and this company is always willing to stay current with the latest in treatments and research.  Compensation is excellent.  The downsides may include: days can start early! Then again, some days I’m done by noon.  The patient load can seem large (up to 50 patients in a day) BUT, scribes are available and, in my opinion, are priceless!!! Charting software is user friendly. Each facility is different and developing a rapport with each wound care team can take time.  The most rewarding part of the job is seeing facility staff follow our recommendations to the letter, resulting in some really stubborn wounds finally resolving!! Anyone serious about a career in wound care cannot go wrong with this company! 

The hours are flexible, and you can work around any personal needs which is wonderful. I have learned a lot about billing codes and insurance in my position for this company. My manager is great and is concerned if I work too much because she wants me to have a better work life balance. This company has no problem with you working while taking care of your family as long as you complete the work timely. The hardest part for me in this job is work life balance since I tend to work until everything is done. The most enjoyable part of this job is being able to be at home with my daughters and no longer stress about childcare but that can also have it challenges as well. 

I am an Internal Medicine physician by training who has worked both domestically and internationally for over 20 years.  I can honestly say that I've never worked for a company as supportive and professional as Integrated.  Being an independent contractor has its difficulties to be sure, but with Integrated standing behind me I now make nearly twice the salary I ever did as a Hospitalist while dealing with only half the stress.  I feel like I make a difference for my patients and have more time to spend with them than I ever did when competing for RVUs in corporate medicine.  As a guy who some people consider to be pretty smart, the smartest thing I ever did was take a job with Integrated.  

This company provides support, equipment, education, scribe assistance and mentorship. We are compensated well.
Providers are trusted to get the job done. We are given what we need, and expected to do a good job. A pretty good exchange if you ask me! 
It is an autonomous role - you need to be resourceful, good with customer service and have confidence. I would not recommend this position for a new provider. Being familiar with LTC, geriatrics, home health, post-acute care is very helpful. 
I have been offered additional hours filling in at different facilities. So far, they have been too far and there is no pressure to travel beyond what you are comfortable with. 
Our leaders are very responsive; there is a strong network of support for all needs and questions. 

NP’s when you see this listing, the compensation is NOT what they say. You are paid by each wound you do, you have no control over which patients/wounds you see and address. You are completely at the mercy of the facilities you go into. They say it takes 3 hours to see dozens of patients but that depends on the facility nurse you’re with. I would get stuck there for 6 hours, saw about 15-20 people and my gross pay was always around $200. When you see the breakdown of your pay you make about $13-16/wound, plus pay the scribe about $50. It is not worth the time and aggravation.

I have a great group of management and coworkers that are available to assist me with any troubleshooting and problem solving. There is great Communication, Collaboration and teamwork with in the company. The compensation is on target for the work which is preformed. I highly recommend this company if you have a passion for wound care.
