One of things that I love the most is that most of the staff is very friendly and familiar and accepting. Diversity is the keyword because most people are from different countries and cultures, and more than half speak another language besides English. The target population for the services focus on underserved and underrepresented minorities, which from a personal standpoint is so important (since I am also a minority). Representation matters, and I believe the mission of the company to support underserved populations is one that many companies boast about, but not many actually follow through on. JEMCare is different in that regard as the staff work in the communities they are from. Instead of relying on third party translation or services that can be impersonal, JEMCare directly hires people that can speak the languages and build close relationships with not only the clients, but community leaders and other organizations that spread the word about the benefits of Care Management.

Care Management overall is not for the faint of heart, or for people looking to stay in an office at a desk all day. It requires a lot of patience, well developed time management skills, and an extreme desire to truly help people. Traveling is a big part of the role as clients are from all five boroughs. If you do not want to travel outside your borough, this job is not for you since you will be travelling to at LEAST two different boroughs regularly. This can be a struggle, especially for people new to the field, or for whom this is a first job. I don't recommend a role as a care manager as a first job, but there are other departments like intake and marketing that are good for people who want to understand Care Management and community outreach before becoming a full on care manager. JEMCare could be better at training employees in the sense that the training is fairly short, however, care management as a whole is mainly "trial by fire" so there's really not a ton that can be taught outside of just getting the practical experience working with clients directly. The work can be very overwhelming because of this, and it's hard to manage if you prefer a more straightforward and monotonous work style. Again, this job is NOT for someone who just wants an easygoing work experience. The clients are from all walks of life, and it's important to note that because of the target populations, you are be dealing with people that have a host of issues both mental, physical, and economical, sometimes severely. JEMCare works with homeless and migrant populations, persons with mental disorders/illness, and person's with criminal backgrounds. If you're uncomfortable working with anyone facing these kinds of problems, this is not the job for you. You must be willing to accept the fact that the clients you're working with can be unstable -- but the point is to help them find that stability, at least somewhat, and it can be both mentally and physically exhausting. You must be ready for that, or at the very least, be willing to learn how to handle that kind of work. All of that said, if you like leaving work knowing you helped someone improve their life, you will find this job incredibly rewarding. Knowing you helped someone find proper medical help or housing assistance or even just lending them your ear to vent their troubles... The smiles and thank yous and true appreciation for what you've done makes everything worth it.

Management can use some improvement in that some of the directorial staff can be aloof and condescending. It's not so much the middle managers, but the directors that can be overbearing (high expectations with little guidance); overly particular and micromanaging; and personal issues sometimes leak over into treatment of the staff. There are times when I feel like people are talked down to just because their superior is in a bad mood, and it makes it difficult to put trust in the entire management team in general because of it. It seems as though the stress leaks top-down, which lowers morale and can make everyone feel frustrated. There are certain members of the management team that seem to truly care and go out of their way to help, but overall, there needs to be more effort to understand that a "standard" way of handling people isn't going to work in an environment with so many different people of different backgrounds.

One con of working here is that there are way too many meetings. Things that can be sent in an email or text end up being dragged out and time wasted because a meeting needs to be called. This is the only area where things need to be more straightforward. Sometimes less is more, and when a meeting needs to be called to provide an update that can be written in a three sentence email, it wastes time and energy and is incredibly frustrating. 

The benefits are minimal in terms of healthcare (medical dental and vision are offered but the plans are basic). Pay is based in part on the health home rates, which means that there is a limit to the pay, however there is an opportunity for a raise within the first three months of starting with the company, and there is plenty of opportunities for promotion. The owner is very generous with bonuses and incentives (for instance, getting extra money for taking extra cases or going to community events). There was even year end bonuses for people who were fairly new to the company. Free snacks, coffee and tea are offered daily, and every few months, there are events hosted by the HR department that include free food and a chance for the employees to get together and relax/mingle without it being (too) awkward. Once or twice a year, the CEO hosts a grand party for the employees that is very luxurious. There's high end catered food, dancing and music, drinks, famous entertainers, and expensive raffle prizes (like 75" TV's and Ps5, etc). 

Overall, a great place to work. Management needs some improvement, and the work can be mentally and physically taxing, but there is a overwhelming sense of camaraderie, ethnic diversity, and the feeling of helping a fellow human is amazing.

If you're looking for a place where you can really get hands-on experience and grow quickly, this company offers the perfect environment. It's a great place to dip your toes into the corporate world and test out your abilities while climbing the ladder. Since the company is still small, there’s a lot of room for professional growth, and you're constantly presented with new opportunities to explore different skills, which can be a huge advantage for someone eager to learn and expand their expertise.

That said, working here often means wearing multiple hats and being flexible, which can be both rewarding and challenging. It requires strong time management and adaptability, but if you're willing to embrace that, you'll gain invaluable experience that you might not get at a larger organization.

One area that could use improvement is the benefits package, which isn’t as competitive as what you’d find in bigger companies. However, the trade-off is a dynamic work environment with the chance to really make an impact and contribute to the company's growth. If you're driven and looking for a place to grow quickly while gaining diverse skills, this company is a solid choice. Just be ready to roll up your sleeves and take on different roles as needed!



My experience: Jemcare taught me the reason why people go to the vessels and jump off the building. And the reason You should never work with a startup company but go for a known company that has been around for years. They set up unrealistic expectations and love to send you on guilt trips for not knowing something they never taught you.

most of the co workers are cool and they help each other a lot!!! Monthly meetings are very good! The company is trying their best to grow. 

Suggestions: If you are working there be careful of the supervisors they'll lie to your face and make you feel like it was your fault. So keep proofs of everything that they can use against you. Some co workers will take your words and twist it into a spicy lie and use that against you! So again be careful! Go to the director directly or mention it in the monthly meeting if you have a nice idea, don't share it with the supervisors they'll take credit for it. 
Learn to say NO!!! specially when you see the injustice that's gonna hit you hard. 

If you are an innocent soul you and love to help people please go for NGOs where they genuinely work for people to help them and the only goal isn't to make money out of them. 

Current situation: 
I'm still trying to recover from the "JemTRAUMA". 

Working as a Team Lead at Jemcare Health Care Agency has been a truly enriching professional experience. Jemcare is a well-organized and client-centered company that upholds the highest standards of care and professionalism. A typical day involves supervising staff, coordinating client services, and ensuring compliance with all care protocols. The management team is exceptional—highly supportive, communicative, and genuinely invested in employee development and client satisfaction. The workplace culture promotes collaboration, accountability, and respect among all team members. The most challenging aspect is managing complex client needs while maintaining operational efficiency, but the most rewarding part is contributing to an organization that consistently delivers compassionate, high-quality care and values both its clients and employees.

At first, the role seemed promising. The caseload was manageable (8–12 individuals), training was simple and paid, and it initially felt like it would be worth the time. Unfortunately, the experience quickly went downhill.
Management was disorganized, unprofessional, and showed little respect for staff. Expectations were completely unrealistic, and communication was inconsistent. Before starting, I made management aware of a preplanned vacation. When I returned, none of my caseload had been worked on. Management failed to take responsibility for their own duties but instead placed the blame on me, when they clearly knew I was not available. 
The work environment was toxic, with favoritism dictating who was supported or communicated with. Staff were cool, but management was distastefull, full of it and super arrogant. 
Overall, I only stayed for three months before leaving due to how hostile and poorly managed the workplace was. While the paid training is a small positive, the reality of the job is not worth it. I strongly do not recommend working here.

No matter how hard you work you will not get recognized. Management is very childish and plays favorites. They do not know what goes on and expects everything to be done. They impose deadlines on top of deadlines making it a very stressful.  They constantly have care managers leaving.  Management will scold you and quiz you as if you are in school instead of giving proper training. Every training is PowerPoint and video based. They encourage questions and then make you feel stupid when you ask questions and asks you to go back to the PowerPoint and review. They are not consistent with what they promise you during the interview. The job requires you to travel a lot. They ask are you comfortable traveling not explaining the specifications. They advertise work from home/ field days but threaten you to take it back and gives one day. Supervisors will give you a bad rating even if you doing everything perfectly and put you down. You will have to beg for a raise or else they will gives excuses saying you are not proactive and make you feel unworthy of a raise. 

It's good if you need a job, not for long-term employment. The company is a for-profit entity; therefore, it does not have a board acting as oversight. The company operates more as a business than a community-based program. They do not have any staff with clinical training in their adult program.  Even upper management is not privy to trainings or the knowledge needed to support clients in the community. They always just refer out, which is not the point of a community-based program. 

Unless you already have experience in case management, it will be challenging. You'll need to learn how to manage your time effectively. The coworkers are great. The Team Leads are hit or miss. Supervisors are mostly hands-off. Too many meetings.

Also, there are no benefits. If you're looking for long-term employment, consider elsewhere.

- Supportive colleagues who are generally caring.
- Flexible work hours, allowing a start at 9 or 10 am.
- Valuable learning opportunities for novice care managers.

Cons:
- Highly stressful and fast-paced work environment.
- Insufficient and brief training, often unrelated to daily tasks.
- Limited concern for the well-being of both patients and employees.
- Overwhelming caseload, compounded by tasks from non-active care managers.
- Frequent policy and workflow changes.
- Remote work is considered a privilege only after at least 3 months, with limited reimbursement.
- Mandatory in-person visits every 1 or 3 months for members scattered across NYC boroughs.
- Excessive micromanagement.
- High turnover rate, with the risk of sudden termination without warning.

JemCare is a great company with a lot of potential. The organization is very diverse and inclusive, and you truly feel supported as an employee. Management and the clinical team are approachable, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. It’s a positive environment where employees are encouraged to grow and succeed, and it feels good to be part of a company that is still expanding and improving. It is especially rewarding to connect people in need with the support and services available to them, particularly those who need extra help navigating the process.

Do not be fooled by the high hourly rate. The pay may look good, but the hours and cases are not guaranteed, so the actual income can be very low. A typical work week depends on whether you are assigned cases, and that can be inconsistent.

The hardest part is the lack of steady hours and unclear communication during onboarding. It can be frustrating when you are trying to work, follow up, and get started, but you are not receiving clear updates or enough cases.

The most enjoyable part is working with the children and families once you actually have a case. However, I would not recommend relying on this job as steady income unless you already have another job. Ask direct questions about case availability, hours, and onboarding before accepting.
