Legacy Community Health Services

•	Maintain all aspects of payroll for agency
•	Responsible for the preparation and processing of biweekly payroll for over 600 employees; review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other special payroll deductions
•	Responsible for the coordination efforts between payroll, human resources, budget and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g. regular, overtime, leave balances, head count, and retirement contribution reports)
•	Handle the administration of the electronic timekeeping system (PayChex). Setup each employee, valid programs for each employee's charges, and adherence to FLSA; monitor submissions of approved timesheets, ensure valid data transfers to/from payroll service
▪	Establish/maintain employee records; ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization and adherence to APA policy including compliance with federal/state/local regulations
•	Review payroll error reports and defensive queries
•	Assist HR with complex payroll issues
•	Process Bi-Weekly 403B Contribution uploads
•	Communicate with the Bank to see if a direct deposit has been returned
•	Process manual payments, reversals and adjustments
•	Process monthly fringe benefits insurance invoices
•	Assisted with writing and editing process guides currently used for client
•	Work directly with the client to build and nurture the business partnership
•	Process general office supplies and nutritional supplements company-wide
•	Address employee payroll questions and concerns
•	Team lead for payroll conversion from G&A Partners to Paychex
•	Conduct New Hire Orientation
•	Maintain payroll-related accounts and is responsible for the reconciliation and accuracy of one or more accounts within the accounting system (MIP)
•	Prepares various accounting papers, schedules, exhibits and summaries
•	Perform periodic internal audits of various payroll areas and prepare materials for external or internal auditors

I worked at Legacy for 4 years both in school-based health and in the clinic. I loved working within the school setting and getting to interact with families in need made my time with school-based health feel very rewarding; however, after management changed around 2022, emphasis on productivity was so intense it deterred from providing quality care. Management bordered on threatening therapists with layoffs if metrics weren't met. Every therapist has 46 back to back timeslots and are expected to see a minimum of 30 patients per week. You do not have scheduled breaks and are expected to eat/document during no-shows so if all of your 46 patients show, you have to document outside of work hours. Your productivity measures are public and shared with the entire department so everyone is aware if you do not meet your metrics. Mid management supervisors are very nice but struggle to communicate important things to employees and are often tasked with pushing you to meet your metrics. In the clinic setting you have no say in the types of patients you see (you could meet with an 90 year old and a 5 year old all within the same day). Something that is also very frustrating is that multiple people have access to edit your calendar and appointments are added/removed without your notice. 

Pay is above average and benefits are great but ultimately for me they were not worth the burnout. I think working at Legacy made me not want to be a clinician anymore and I am still working through that. 

My experience working here at the LBS location was frustrating due to disorganized and ineffective management. Instead of addressing concerns professionally, a certain manager would rather deflect, become defensive, and double down on poor decisions instead of listening to valid feedback. Rather than fostering a supportive work environment, they seemed more focused on control than efficiency.

Scheduling was also a mess—our shifts were set to end at 4:15, but we weren’t allowed to leave until the provider had only two patients left, even though they continued scheduling patients until 5:00. This led to unnecessary delays and confusion, yet management refused to acknowledge the issue.

On top of that, the MAs were expected to take on excessive front desk duties, including making confirmation calls and scheduling patients’ next appointments—on top of our already heavy workload. Meanwhile, this one manager showed little regard for how inefficient and overwhelming this made our workflow.

We were also required to ask patients unnecessary questions and spend excessive time triaging, only for the provider to rush in for two minutes and leave. It felt like management had no real understanding of how to run an efficient practice or respect for employees’ time.

If you’re looking for a workplace with strong leadership, clear communication, and fair workload distribution, this is not the place. And if you do end up here, good luck dealing with a manager who seems more interested in making things difficult than actually supporting the staff.

Work load was not evenly distributed between managers. Compensation was low compared to others and that created a toxic environment to know your colleagues make more for less work. I loved the people at my clinic  and the idea of “Legacy” it was very hard to make the decision to leave but it was worth the effort and I have no regrets. A lot of management turn over, this is a big red flag and no training. Thankfully I was in operations before and had Epic EMR experience or I would not have been able to do the job since there was no training provided. I would not recommend this position to anyone that has experience it would be a good entry level position for a new manager. Watch out for manipulative recruitment tactics, especially salary and bonuses promised. Great hard working team members who basically support the daily grind and are always willing to help, without them the clinic would not be as successful as it is. Millions in revenue but still paying MAs 17-19 dollars per hour is shameful I will say I was shocked to see what my direct reports were making, that bothered me very much, but that is out of my hands. Senior management was great for my clinic but only so much they can do. With the right management this flagship location has a lot of potential. 

Stressful, draining, left without support, and nothing you do would be valued unless you are one of the favorites of management. Once the original Pharmacy Director left, everything went to shambles. If you are desperate to leave retail life and have no other choice, then Legacy Pharmacy would be an alternative until you find another option. Management is horrible and if they don't like you then they will work with HR to fire you. Management loves drama and instead of resolving it, they feed on it and create more. Run away! This place is not worth the stress! Also medical/vision/dental benefits were expensive and not worth it. This company is losing money by the day. They even took away 401k for a time. I am telling you it is not worth it. They scolded you if you took too many days off to care for your sick child. They would give you a verbal warning if you called in to care for your child being sick. This job will cause you anxiety and stress because management will always blame you and never themselves. If anyone says they are happy working at legacy it is because management hasn't picked on them yet. Horrible management which causes a chaotic environment.  Run away!

a typical day at work is tiring because i would go above and beyond i would help others with their job to make it easier for them i would also work over hours , but the over hours didn't mind to me because i would get a good pay check. like they say hard work pays off. i learned how to help customers, and patients  with their problems, and how to communicate with them. the management wasn't really that good because they would just sit in the office for hours and inventory would be low, and they don't know how to manage employees correctly because there would be some people who would miss a day without calling, and not get fired, but some would miss a day but call, and get fired from it. The hardest part of the job is when i had to come in for others and for myself at the same time and have multiple things to take care of while dealing with the customers, but the most enjoyable thing was getting to know the employees. I love interacting with the employees but, i didn't think some of them would feel the same way about me. I was the managers favorite, but the employees would tell her things that i didn't do right, i  would think i'm doing everything right but she would cal me, and get mad at me and tell me to do better next time.

Negative Aspects:
My experience at Legacy Montrose Clinic (LMC) was disappointing. The clinic appeared to be poorly organized, and I faced several challenges related to management. In my time there, I observed significant issues with how employees were treated differently based on their backgrounds. I felt that employees of certain ethnicities were given more leniency, while others, particularly those of African descent, were held to unfair standards and labeled negatively for raising concerns or voicing their opinions. The work environment at LMC felt divided and, at times, hostile. There were instances where individuals in leadership positions did not foster an inclusive or supportive culture, and I felt my contributions and concerns were often disregarded. This lack of fairness contributed to an unhealthy work atmosphere. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Legacy Montrose Clinic as an ideal workplace, especially for individuals who may not fit into the dominant demographic. The company could improve by addressing these internal issues to create a more equitable and respectful environment for all employees.

Clients — are disrespected, and effective services are not provided.  Clients doesn’t  get medical treatment or therapy as needed, living conditions are poorly maintained with bedbugs, mold, plumbing issues, clutter and roommate issues goes unresolved.  Employees — unprofessional work environment, and upper management,  no structure, no on job training, cameras installed to watch employees and used for firing, not giving tools to perform your job, like office supplies and computers to do your job in a timely fashion,  high turnover with employees, poor pay, poor work environment, no career growth, no adequate time off( must be available even on your days off), no feedback on your work performances except when they want to get rid of you,,, office conditions are deplorable with fall risk due to unsafe flooring, risk with bedbugs when dirty and used clothing or furniture is stored in office work areas, roaches, electrical wiring not properly installed, old technology with old computers, inadequate working space when 3 or more employees work a shift.

Great place to work as far as compensation for the area. Benefits include vision, dental, medical, 403B, short term, and long term disability. Most benefits covered by the company but others are out of pocket. 10 paid holidays. PTO hours are decent, 100 the first year. 
I am a provider so i see patients daily, scheduled 18 per day. I see all patients from Pedi-Geri. 
Management could definitely use improvement. Everything seems to be different from person to person as what to do for protocols and guidelines. Nothing is written and followed. Lots of favoritism. 
Co workers are great! Some are lazy but thats anywhere you work. Lots of call ins leaving the clinic short handed. 
Hardest part of the job is getting along with multiple people with different attitudes and dealing with lazy work habits as well as multiple call ins. 
Most enjoyable part of the job is the hard working employees and great patients.

The organization is readily growing to meet the underserved and unserved healthcare needs of communities within Southeast Texas, and area of the country were one in four people lack sufficient health coverage.  The organization has allowed me to grow, but only at my personal pressure for advancement or realignment within the organization.  The Executive Director lacks long-term internal stakeholder vision, and therefore has established a hostile environment where long-standing employees do not hold a high regard to their work commitments and the mission and vision of the organization.  Services to the community and internal peer teams continue to make this an organization worth getting up and coming to work for on a daily basis.  I have enjoyed many aspects of this position, but seek to advance my skills within an organization within Washington, DC.
