Leisure Living Senior Communities

My experience with this company has been very hit or miss. I love the connections I've made with many of my residents, but the management is extremely hit or miss, there are employees that make it nearly impossible to fathom coming to work some days, and yet they get rewarded mire than anyone else. The good connections I've made with some of my coworkers have been absolutely amazing, there truly are some wonderful people who represent a model coworker/employee, however, the bad interactions can outweigh the good at times. Not to mention that the people who should be recognized aren't until they're on the brink of burnout, if at all. Being belittled by coworkers and management for the smallest things while watching others get away with serious issues does not help at all. Being in Healthcare, in general, tends to be a thankless and hard job, but when your management can't take the 5 seconds once in a while to say "hey I see what you're doing and I appreciate it" is ridiculous. Then, when someone finally has enough and leaves, management tries to pull out all the stops to keep you around, knowing how vital you are to their staff, all too late. Going from having way too many hours and being one of the only ones who picks up, to being shunned and and punished by having up to 7+days off in a row for calling in once after your 3rd 6-8 day stretch with a single day off in between, it's assanine. There is absolutely NO anonymity if you try to speak up about something, and nothing gets changed anyway so now you're the target for nearly everyone you work with.

Working at Woodlawn Meadows Assisted Living & Memory Care community has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The team here is truly exceptional - everyone is hardworking, motivated, and genuinely cares about the residents and providing the best experience possible for them. The culture amongst the staff is supportive, helpful, and encouraging, which makes coming to work each day a pleasure.

One of the things I appreciate most about  Woodlawn Meadows is that we are always fully staffed, which allows for a great work-life balance and options for covering shifts when needed. This level of support and organization really sets us apart from other places I have worked.

I also love the community initiatives that are in place, such as "Something to look forward to" and "meaningful connections." These programs are designed to make each resident feel special in their day-to-day living, and we go above and beyond to create special moments for them "just because." It's heartwarming to see how these initiatives brighten each of our residents' lives.

Management at Woodlawn Meadows is also top-notch. They are receptive to staff feedback and are always looking for ways to improve our community and better meet the needs of our residents. It's clear that they truly value the input of their employees and are dedicated to creating a positive and enriching environment for everyone.

Overall, I am so grateful to be a part of such a fantastic team and community. I would highly recommend working here to anyone looking for a rewarding and fulfilling career in senior living.

A typical day for me is coming in and seeing the residents down at breakfast in the dining room, giving them all big smiles and warm “Good Mornings”. I’ll plan for about an hour and then I get ready for standup where everyone on shift gets together for a quick run down of the day. After that activities start and we facilitate! I’ve learned a lot in general but mainly things from our training courses each month. I now know how to safely strap down a wheelchair to a bus and transport residents! The life enrichment department does “awards” monthly to showcase all kinds of different things we’re doing in our communities. And we have a “one team broadcast” 2 times a year where the whole company gets on and the CEO will share new statistics and stories from our growing communities. Springvale is not a nursing home, its senior living and the staff and residents sure know how to liven up a party or even regular activities like bingo. We do lots of give back to our employees and the community! The hardest part of the job for me is feeling like things won’t go the way I plan them, the incredible amount of support from all departments is what keeps my head on when I start to spiral. The most enjoyable part of the job would be after a big event when there’s a few staff around sharing photos and memories of the night or past events. Hearing residents talk about an event 2 weeks after the fact fills my heart along with when their families can join and have fun with their loved ones making new lasting memories.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It is a pleasure to be able to interact with the residents. It was always a highlight of my work day to hear their stories. I loved to make them laugh bringing a small part of enjoyment to their day

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The executive director makes the work environment terrible. She has her little group of employees that she treats extra special so they will tell on their co workers. You can trust no one hear. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It us like being back in high school. Executive director has her clicks that run and tattle about everything. She looses ficus that the experience is about the resident and not what she wants. I had to remind her several times that it wasn't about her. The long term employees are not nice to new comers bc they do their job while the rest spend a lot of their day sitting in dining area and care stations

This is a stressful place to work

I have worked for other Senior Living facilities and I feel that I have found my home with Leisure Living Management. I feel that the owners truly care about providing the best living experience for our seniors and they genuinely care for all involved in the company. The corporate office employees work hard to ensure all employees have the resources they need to succeed. The culture at Leisure Living Management is unlike any company that I have ever worked for. You will see the difference as soon as you set foot in to any community. The staff is caring and compassionate. I enjoy coming to work every day. Leisure Living pays their employees fairly, provides benefits for full time employees, paid vacation/sick time,etc. Working in any health care facility is hard work and you have to have a passion for what you are doing. Most people that are unhappy with the company do not have a passion for what they are doing. I recommend working for Leisure Living Management or any of their communities!

This is an amazing company in which  to work and be a part of.  There is nothing more fulfilling than caring for the residents.  The team members are close and share the same passion.   This passion and sense of purpuse trickles down from the executive team and ownership of the company who knew this Facility level employee’s name within a month of being here.  They are very approachable and genuine in their concern for their employees and their clients.  I look forward to each work day and the journey ahead with this company.   The company is growing but not loosing that sense of close community. Each facility embraces the community around it.  Our families and residents love the beautiful facility and the atmosphere among the residents and employees.  This type of work is very rewarding and depends more on the character of a person then a portfolio filled with degrees.  

A typical day at work is something i look forward to. I love seeing smiling faces and working hard to make residents’ days. I have learned more than i can speak of since i started here over a year ago. Working with these residents you learn something new everyday it’s such a great experience. Management is great from day to day helping with anything possible making sure we are able to get our jobs done no matter the circumstance. The culture in the building is great there are always stories being told and friends being made. Id say the hardest part of the job is long hours but the events and end results make everything worth it. I really enjoy doing events and entertainment everyday with all the residents

Working as a house keeper definitely keeps you on your feet. There is lots to do, which I like when going to work somewhere. There is also a nice structure to my schedule as well. I know what I will be doing each day and roughly what to expect throughout the day. A typical work day consist of cleaning certain rooms each day of the week, as well as doing room checks throughout the day to make sure everything looks good before the work day is done. There are also side tasks, such as vacuuming the entrances, cleaning and dusting the sunroom, and also checking to make sure all the public bathrooms are clean and have everything they need before clocking out for the day. I think the best part of the job is getting to know the residents and helping them if they need to be taking somewhere, such as bingo. It is really nice to have conversations with each of them throughout the day.

I've learned to be flexible, humble, honest, and vulnerable.  It's okay to ask questions and view each day as a learning opportunity.  It takes courage and dedication to accept the responsibility of overseeing operations for a licensed senior living community.   I look forward to being at work in our beautiful building alongside caring staff and residents.  It's not always easy, but I don't expect it to be.  Each day I strive to make a difference and be better than the day before.  I'll continue working hard,  listening to feedback,  and putting forth my best effort to create a safe, caring, and vibrant community.

Higher archery, and lack of communications to staff, no support from management in a timely basis

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Be at work daily on an on time basis ready to perform the duties of the position,  supposedly for a reasonable increase, which doesn't happen, and management shows no support for or appreciation shown for outstanding people.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Performance of my duties is a gimee, but the rules are different for others in similar positions, who do their jobs as they see fit, despite the rules.
