Company is driven by quantity over quality despite what their mission says. Schedules were packed. Seeing 12 patients for counseling a day is insane and not productive to the therapist or the patient. You cannot provide effective care that way. Burnout was very evident among most if not all providers. Don't get mesmerized by the "bonus payout," it's pretty impossible to reach. I never received a productivity bonus in the 3 years I was there, and I was burnt out. Was expected to complete notes at home if needed. Weekend meetings and 7am meetings were a frequent form of punishment for not meeting goals (unless they just didn't want to disrupt billing time). If you have individual interests and goals to advance in your career, they are pretty much ignored to meet the overall goals of the department/company. No opportunities to advance unless you are favored. Positions have even been created for those who are favored. I never personally experienced intimidation and bullying but witnessed it on an almost daily basis from administration/management to some of the medical and support staff. My supervisor was very nice and tried to be supportive (as much as the company would allow) during the 3 years I was there, but during my last week...silence. Felt undervalued and that my personal life/time did not matter much. Health insurance coverage wasn't the best and 401K matching JUST began, but not until you've been there for at least 3 years....no back dating.

Show up early and assure that the office is ready for the day, ensure that there aren't and new faxes that need to go out or that need to be processed for medicinal refills or request for medical records. Check in patients as they come in, ensure that their demographic information is up to date, and lastly make sure that the copay's are collected if necessary. Through out the day there are various faxes hat will come in that require immediate attention that range from medicinal request, referrals, and medical records request that need to be processed. Properly documentation of any request must be entered in the system. Verifying insurances and copay's proactively in advance through out the month. Receiving and taking phone calls about issues with or making new or rescheduling appt's.

My co worker was definitely the ying to my yang, we complimented each other extremely well. 

I learned about proper procedures and he importance of discretion and privacy when it comes to peoples personal information. As well as the need for medical assistance in the US. Working for this non profit was a real eye opener when it came to this nations poverty level. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was honestly helping people. I worked in the Behavioral Health Clinic, so it was most gratifying for me to see the improvement that a patient would make as they continuously came in for heir appts. Watching someone grow secure within themselves after seeing how lost they were in the beginning made me happy because i knew we were helping as an organization.

My typical work hours were M-F from 8am-5pm. Normally there was a mandatory monthly meeting for each department/clinic. I did some  traveling since I lived further out from each site. I learned much about the underserved population and this clinic provided services for such. For as long as I worked here I was content and satisfied with my role. However, since I started there was very minimal supervision and interaction with management. In my first year alone, I had 4 different managers or people I was supposed to report to. It was no issue for me, because I tried to be on top of my workload and personally did not like to bother management, unless really necessary. Communication from management/company mainly happened via emails, and rarely, phone calls. There is only one annual salary raise, which depends on performance. But how do you know how well an employee is performing if management is hardly ever around? To prove yourself worthy of this 10 cent raise, make sure the numbers on the reports reflect what a great employee you are. Quantity over Quality. On the bright side, I had great co-workers and pretty much got along with everyone I came into contact with. Which in return made my job very pleasant!

My experience at Lone Star has provided me with a knowledge of medicine I would have not received at many other facilities. Together as a team, my co-workers and I would make it through each day together assisting each other with each provider. The most enjoyable part of my job was seeing the patients whose lives and health we actually improved. When a patients health goals were achieved, being apart of that health care goal with them was most rewarding. The struggle through every day was always dealing with frustrated patients due to waiting times to see the doctor. I have developed the ability to show compassion for those who are unable to spend that much time waiting at a doctors and explaining why wait times are as long as they were. My coworkers - the medical assistants- managed mostly everything in our clinic. I specifically ordered all clinical supplies needed. I assisted the nurses in medication management. As well as basic cleanliness, stocking rooms, checking expiration dates, and running daily controls. My overall experience with Lone Star was a true learning period for me. The one thing that always got me was there is no room for advancement within a clinic.

What can I say, Ive been with LSCC for years and its just a great place to work.  I work n the Billing Department and just love it.  We have clear instructions for our jobs and deadlines are laid out early each month by the Billing director.  Management is great and works together well.  You can go to any manager or director and they are all so helpful.  The job can be a bit stressful but its mainly when new programs or billing is added like Chronic Care or the Dietitian program which is billed differently than FQHC claims.  Also Telehealth is tricky but the management team gives great cheat sheets to reference.  We work from home even after the Covid pandemic slowed down.  Waking up and getting right to work without a stressful drive has. Really made my work life/ personal life so much better.  Pay could be better but is not bad as you can get a raise every year if you work hard.  Benefits are amazing, best out there.  I would tell anyone to work in the Billing department.

A typical day at work consists of work overload , short or no breaks and lunches. Workers are asked to come to work earlier and stay later then get in trouble for going into overtime pay. Management at multiple clinics lack professionalism when it comes to how they treat employees and how they manage clinic locations overall. There is always talk of advancement in positions yet favoritism is a big key when the higher ups choose those who will fill those positions when available. I was told LSCC was centered around patient care but at multiple clinics it's all about how many patients can be seen in a day which causes high stress environment not only for providers but for front desk and back office. The hardest part of the job was the unreasonable expectations of goals for staff to reach in time frame provided. Pay was too low for the work load you are expected to do. The most enjoyable part of the job was probably the end of the year party where most if not little recognition is given for the work done.   

Lone Star Circle of Care is a great place to work at and their mission speaks for itself. This company offers great benefits and ability to grow in the company. Every day is a new day to learn new things and better yourself and upper management is always supportive of your ideas on a better work environment. The staff is awesome and team work is very well used. If you’re looking for a company that helps you succeed in the healthcare field or administrative field this place is a great learning ground to gain outstanding training. I love the patients and my coworkers. It’s family oriented and they have flexible hours. Everyone is so helpful and willing to better your day and they make the patients all feel welcomed. Helping and giving families the ability to obtain medical services is definitely worth it. It’s definitely very fulfilling to be a part of this companies growth.

The clinics are chronically understaffed, leaving front desk staff and medical assistants working full days without breaks because coverage is impossible to find. Management seems completely disconnected—the VP of Operations has no problem letting employees quit and clearly doesn’t care about supporting the team, as long as upper management stays happy.

The culture is toxic. Older staff gossip constantly about each other and about everyone else in the clinic, which makes for a stressful environment. MICROMANAGING! There are no raises, no bonuses, and the company does next to nothing for holidays—and when they do, it’s usually cheap, thoughtless items. Lazy staff aren’t held accountable, while other staff are expected to pick up the slack and handle impossible demands.

Low pay, terrible hours, and zero appreciation make this a job I wouldn’t recommend. If you’re looking for a place that respects its employees and rewards hard work, keep looking.


Toxic management culture that plays favorites based on arbitrary cliques as instead of performance. They regularly put down employees and make arbitrary, ill informed decisions, believing they are are always the "smartest people in the room".

I worked 70+ hour weeks to meet deadlines for projects upper management signed us up for without any input from us on whether or not they were achievable and received nothing but insults from them for it. 

HR is lead by an incompetent, angry and bullying individual. This man is solely concerned with ingratiating himself to management and bullying those he deems beneath him to boost his own fragile ego.

I worked my way up to director, but still consider this a waste of 4 years of my life. Don't make the same mistake I did. Run as far away as you can from this dumpster fire.

Arrive, clock in, interact with paitents, clock out for your one hour lunch break, go to lunch at your designated time, lunch break, return to work + clock back in, interact with more patients, depending on shift chosen clean the entire clinic at night, clock out go home.
Management and coworkers were awful. They pressure people into not making incident reports, going to HR, and even pressuring people to quit.
Job environment was embarrassingly bad. People were gossiping about paitents, other coworkers, and being unkind to those who are struggling.
The hardest part of the job is being yelled at by paitents and your coworkers.
The most enjoyable part of work was that the break room was nice and coffee supplies was very rarely understocked.
