Decent place to work if its your first gig or position,  but there are better places. Not a very diverse work environment. I never felt supported at work when it came to management, but did and had fun when it came to direct coworkers who gave praise for your work ethic where it was due. No one had a clear answer for things when I started to the time I left for things such as earned time accumulation and certain procedures as an employee and how to approach things since certain systems were not used as intended. The tech orientation and employee handbook is not very thorough. Always shorthanded and some techs who'd applied through my time didn't return after day one.

Took some form of unnecessary, and in fair amounts of cases, unprofessional verbal abuse from staff within and from other departments with no action being taken after reported. For some employees of other depts, there were numerous reports from numerous nurses or techs with no action taken to correct it. This verbal abuse and unprofessionalism extends to some management members who aren't proactive to facilitating a positive work environment within the department  and may also bring the topic or discussion up in inappropriate settings or ways.

Overall, very much a lack of accountability, lack of procedure, lack of structure, lack of diversity, and lack of professionalism throughout the organization.

A lot of the other registrars are college students who either don't care enough to do their job well, or are just there for a paycheck and have no bedside manner. It doesn't matter how hard you work or how efficient you are, because you can't get an individual raise and everyone gets the same 3% raise annually regardless of how hard they worked. The same employees are complained about in terms of slacking off and nothing is ever done to correct it. Management regularly sends emails reminding how to do simple processes included in the job, because again, the staff are mainly under 25 and just don't care. You get berated by patients who wait too long because they can schedule appointments online that have no actual value. If someone has a billing issue, it is near impossible to connect with someone who can actually help them with the phone number provided. There is a huge lack in professionalism in so many of the registration employees, and they struggle to learn and adapt to new processes and programs. If you are the minority and actually do your job, you get nothing to show for it. You get no holiday bonus, you get no pay increase for taking on responsibilities, and the opportunity to move up is lackluster. The most you will get is a Thanksgiving catered meal and if you're lucky, a scratch ticket or gift card (don't count on it being more than your hourly wage).  There are some supervisors who truly are great though, and do their best given the policies they must follow. 

I have worked for Lowell general hospital for three years and was employed by saints memorial prior to that. I have seen quite a change in patients and their care over the past few years. I have also seen a huge change in the hospital since Lowell General took over. I am employed in the Internal Medicine department in an office located near the down town area. Our office if extremely busy with 4 physicians and one  nurse practitioner. The past several years I have seen an increase in patients with behavioral health issues. These patients seem to be extremely non compliant and this can become quite frustrating. Another difficult part of my job on a day to day basis is dealing with the patients whom frequently seek narcotics. I find that this too has increased over the past few years. I try to always remember that the patients requests or needs make sense to them even if they don't always seem to make the most sense to me. I think working with a great team of coworkers and having the support from each other definitely helps in these situations. Our office has a wonderful office manager whom goes above and beyond to make our day go as smoothly as possible which is not always an easy task.

Organize, process, and maintain medical records and health information. Assemble, review, analyze, abstract, maintain, compile, and extract medical record and health data. Check medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with requirements of regulatory and accrediting agencies. Maintain clinical registries and work to meet the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies. Perform support work in connection with the care and treatment given to patients in wards, clinics, or other such units of a medical facility which includes functions such as serving as a receptionist, performing record keeping duties, and providing miscellaneous support to the medical staff of the unit. It requires a practical knowledge of computerized data entry and information processing systems, the medical facility’s organization and services, basic rules and regulations governing visitors and patient treatment, and a practical knowledge of the standard procedures, medical records, and medical terminology of the unit supported.

This job looked good on paper. Management expects you to log your daily duties all day. They give you no autonomy in the position or in your logs. Staff makes up stuff to fill there logs. Reports are inflated to look good or not done at all.  Breaks and downtime are not respected or encouraged by the team or management. It's clear why they can't keep security officers. They work you to death and excpect way too much out of you. They take their job way too seriously. They respond to every call with blue lights and sirens, it's pathetic. No organization and there main purpose is to look good on paper. The manager for 20 years is leaving and the leadership structure is disorganized and set up for burnout and fatigue. Quality of life for the job is fail grade. Probably one of the worst jobs I ever had. I do not recommend this job unless you want to be stressed out 24/7. If you want to work this hard,  your better off serving tables or bartending. A complete joke of a security department and culture. 

As a Patient Care Technician at Lowell General Hospital, a typical day involves assisting nurses with patient care, performing routine vital checks, and helping patients with daily activities. I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience in patient care, medical procedures, and working within a healthcare team. It's also taught me how to manage my time effectively and prioritize patient needs.

The culture is team-oriented and patient-focused, with colleagues often stepping in to help each other. However, there is sometimes a sense of burnout, especially due to understaffing and low pay, which affects morale.

The most challenging part is the physical and emotional toll of the job. Balancing the needs of multiple patients while maintaining a high standard of care can be stressful, particularly when understaffed.

The most enjoyable part is the direct interaction with patients. Making a positive difference in someone’s care and seeing their recovery progress is incredibly fulfilling.

I do have to say that I loved my career there and I got to meet some incredible people who are now close friends. I loved being involved with the community and witnessing the power of human interaction on a daily basis. Being able to witness people overcome hardships and tremendous adversity are moments that I will never forget. 
The job culture of this company is good, there is room for improvement for LGH to go from good to great in my opinion which is having all levels of management prioritize transparency. Employees that feel included and in the loop on important decisions are motivated to be more engaged and do their best work. 

The only issue I had was that it was a bit difficult to be recognized even after years of positive feedback and performance results.

You are hired by your supervisor only to be ridiculed about how you do your job in front of co workers.  You always have your supervisor looking over your shoulder although you could be a very highly qualified employee.  Merger has caused management to treat their nursing assistants like work horses, always being short staffed, requesting holidays but forced to work the holidays although worked out with co workers to cover days.  I have personally been belittled in front of Nursing staff instead of brought to the office about any concerns.  If you're not part of the group at work, you get put as an outcast.  Nurses have their favorites aides which cause preferences in certain days off or how they wear their attire to work.  For example, some would not even wear scrub tops or scrubs at all.  Very unprofessional work environment.

Lowell General Hospital - Saints Campus was a wonderful place to work. I enjoyed my 29 years there. Work in cancer center. Staff there were a special group of individuals. They were compassionate, friendly, and very caring people. I enjoyed my time with them. Typeically any day was busy, constant changes to schedules on a moments notices. When I joined the Cancer Center, one of the big things I learned was how to live every day as it if was my last day this was taught to me by the patients. My manager and co-worker were the best group of people I have had the pleasure to work for. Hardest part of the job was losing patients when they passed away. You become connected with them because you see them frequently. What was really nice was to see a patient after they are given a clean bill of health.

Worked in Housekeeping for a long time. They hold these meetings telling us to look clean and professional or be sent home while you’re cleaning dirty rooms all day. The building is very old it gets cold rather quickly you weren’t allowed to wear a sweatshirt and be comfortable and loose. Also wants shirts tucked in and uniform on at all times even though there is a scrub room full of scrubs. Also wants to test you’re patience on cleaning products. I’m pretty sure if I used the wrong products my hand would turn color. Uses 99 cent Amazon flashlight to check if bathrooms are clean than tries to humiliate you in front of everybody. Also no personal items on the cleaning carts phones , clothing or water. I guess you’re out of luck if it’s hot outside.
