What is the best part of working at Lutheran Home of Southbury?
I work in the Rehab dept and the DOR is amazing! She is a great boss and an even better person! As far as the company goes I have never had a single problem working for them, they have always been good to me. Benefits are good as well.

Nothing I can think of cause my direct boss makes it very easy to work there

What is the work environment and culture like at Lutheran Home of Southbury?
The work environment is better than most. I have worked at a lot of different buildings and they are as good if not better than others. Nursing home care was damaged badly from covid and all places were effected. Lutheran is one of the better places in the area

What is a typical day like for you at Lutheran Home of Southbury?
I get a schedule and treat my patients. My coworkers are great and make my day go by quickly. My boss is great so I have no complaints!

Providing quality and caring health care to patients in need of short-term rehabilitation or chronic care is first priority of the facility and its owners/managers.  

Staff and managers are dedicated and caring and strive to maintain 
continuing support and education education for employees.  Residents come first in the facility.

The health care environment is a constantly changing system and keeping up with changes in State and Federal regulations are a must.
Paperwork can be distressing at times, especially required in the State of CT.

Interaction with residents and families is the most enjoyable part of the day regardless of their care needs.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There isn't one good thing I can say about my time working here. They hire many lazy people and expect people like myself, to pick up there slack.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There always short staffed due to the people they hire. They call in sick more than they show up which makes our jobs harder

High volumes of stress due to the people who love to call out 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I'd be very angry and stressed out

What one nursing home lacks another excels in. Working in Nursing Homes is not the best place to give the best one on one care for anybody. There are only a few really good aides on all the shifts and the ones that have been there for a very long time are trully the best.
There is of course some bad influences there for someone who wants to work in a Honest way. One can easily be swayed to do their work the way that could be dishonest even the RN's.

My experience at the Lutheran Home was very different then those reflected on the previous reviews. Everyone is so welcoming and helpful, I felt right at home from the moment I came in. My manager has always guided me when I was unsure and was there to lend a shoulder when I needed it. As with every job, the environment is what you make of it, some individuals are unhappy with everything regardless of how hard the employer tries. There are so many tenured individuals, which provides you with a sense of security. I look forward to watching the Lutheran Home evolve and plan on being here for the long run.

After reading some of the reviews from the dietary department I was hesitant to apply but I did anyways. Having working here in the kitchen with new management and many new staff it is clear that changes needed to be made and they were. We requested many new items that were bought for us and we were recently given an increase on top of our annual increases. The management team is hands on and they help a lot. I met some great people who I am now friends with outside of work. The residents and my coworkers make work fun.

Very poor morale at company. Administration does not care for staff .  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Majority of staff there is agency and work is never complete or followed up leaving it a very stressful work environment for an actual employee of the company

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Poor management. Administration does not help staff. The communication is poor.  There are a lot of falls and a lot of investigations at this company.

Typical day at work consisted of nothing but toxic petty drama. Learned absolutely NOTHING I already didn’t know. Management sucks, they truly don’t care, they just want bodies in the building. Workplace culture, is TOXIC. Would not recommend. Hardest part of the job was actually getting to be able to do my job, IN PEACE. Most enjoyable is always the residents. I feel bad for the elderly stuck in nursing homes in these days. 

Under new ownership, the Lutheran Home has been beautifully renovated- and that is where all of the money goes with patient care suffering.  All they care about is how things look. Staff is unclear of roles, there are no clear processes to make patient care smooth or consistent. They understaff to save money (have to pay for all those new sofas somehow!). 

This is not a good place to work.

Veteran aides would purposely give new aides a hard time. When a group of new aides would come in there would be no overtime. So veteran aides would purposely give new aides the harder assignments. They would not help new aides or train them correctly.  Then they would go report and complain about new aides to management. They would eventually quit or got fired. Management seemed oblivious or didn't care.
