TL;DR-If your passion is to work with troubled youth or children in general, if you want a job that has reasonable hours with reasonable pay and good and reasonable benefits, if you want to be in an environment that is supportive, ethical, fair, professional, and safe, then allow me to exaggerate and say METHODIST FAMILY HEALTH IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO!

At the time of my tenure with Methodist, specifically the Methodist Children's Home division, I have learned much and witness many banes to working for this company. I will say two positive aspects to this job were the occasional co-workers who were empathetic to me and supported me, and the other were the youth. As challenging and "very" trying as the youth were, I do not take my time with them for granted. The youth made it worth working, especially after witnessing two high school graduates at the beginning and end of my time at Methodist. The few co-workers who were before me were supportive as we shared the same grievances and discontentment over our work area. It was good to have that support system, and I am grateful for that to this day. I still keep in touch with one present employee and almost all the past ones.

Now for the bad and ugly.

Management- Unprofessionally disorganized at the worst times, plays favorites with certain employees, upper management is virtually useless in fully resolving issues, has high demands for the teaching parents who are the backbone of this company but almost no protection for them, the pay was inadequate, especially If one has a related degree to this field, Upper management is unfair and biased.

Workplace-Was unorganized one too many times, consultant has failed to listen to concerns of the teaching parents one too many times, and Consultant was virtually absent and poor in communication. I was under two lead teaching parents, and one of them was even more absent than the other and that LTP lived ON the property of the home. The office space easily becomes full of clutter, which made pertinent documentation hard to find. The hours are reasonable at first. But after the first week, you find yourself doing a lot of overtime and almost no time off. It really took a toll on me.

The greatest offense of this company is it how is disregards its staff and youth at the same time. If the staff is not taken cared of, then less staff will show up to work which will lead to the youth not cared for properly. Also, there are youth who are sent to these homes and need treatment that is beyond what a group home offers. In short, extremely high risk youth (especially violent youth) should not be in a low restriction facility like the group home. This endangers the youth, and the staff who have to maintain control alone most of the time.

If you value your professional career avoid this company and all who work here, especially in management, like the plague! This is simply one of the most vile companies you could work for. If you perform ground level work such as a Teaching Parent or Assistant Teaching Parent you will be used, lied to, manipulated, lied about and if it benefits this organization you will be thrown to the wolves in order to protect their inner circle. 

On the front everything appears to be warm and inviting. However, during the first days of training you will see how poorly run this organization is. Your warning flags will go up then. If you are like most people doing the ground work you will tell yourself it is no big deal because you are here for the kids. Well good for you because you are exactly the same sucker they want and need. 

You will learn next to nothing in training. Then you will go into the homes and learn even less. Especially in Searcy where the incompetent (as described by senior management) old matriarch runs the show. She can not train you because she doesn't know her own job but she will pretend she does. You will be called equals even though your job description will say you are her boss and management will say you are not, well maybe not, well we will check on that for you. To which they never do. 

The kids in these homes are the least of your problems; they are broken, bent, lost and confused and they just want to be loved and cared for. Don't do that though and expect to keep your job long! The Searcy home I mentioned before has been through something like 6 or 7 sets of houseparents in roughly 2 years! Do the math on that real quick if you think I am just blowing smoke here.

If you enjoy this field and helping kids in a bad spot please keep doing that because God knows these kids all need it. However, if you enjoy it enough to keep doing it and don't want your name, your image or possibly even your soul tarnished then don't do the jobs here. You will be lucky to get out in one piece and luckier if you are not permanently damaged from your time here with these people. This is an agency who needs revamped from top to bottom in order to accomplish their stated mission because they are a very long way from it at this point.

Disgusting. Every negative review on here deserves to be repeated in my review because they are stunningly accurate and yet I will save you that misery. I only wish I had read the reviews before accepting the position.

Most dirtiest company ever !you would be better off at maumelle hospital fimore I wouldn’t recommend to work especially in the housekeeping department the bosses do not know how to treat their employees,it’s bad enough there’s little work to do especially for full time in my opinion they should just have it for part time ,they have you do the same thing over and over again when you already done it for example wipe down things that’s already clean there will be most days you have to literally move slow to have some work to do between your breaks and after lunch it’s not a fast pace job .The supervisor she may seem like she’s the nicest lady but when you actually working with her it’s another’s story you will know it’s her she hums all the time and claims she’s a Christian woman but she’s sure don’t act like it  !trust me !and then there there’s the big boss over her he’s very rude and unprofessional and racist they treat people different because of their age  and race. Then there’s the boss over him They are unappreciative ,most housekeepers work they butts off and even goes out their way to make sure the facility is clean and nobody gives anybody compliments for doing a good job they want you to be fully dedicated to your job they get attitudes when you request a day off or miss a day or have anything important to do they are not understanding!they talk about you to other people but smile in your face I feel like this company is just very unprofessional and I wouldn’t waist my time !It burns the supervisor soul when she sees you laughing and having a good time while working she just might separate you like she did me lol and the others .Nobody to really talk to about what goes on there because they wouldn’t understand .you might run into a couple BIs that see what you go through and see how they treat other people and they feel as though it’s the housekeeping fault as to why they can’t keep anybody which is not true most people they hire are good workers the ones I worked with are awesome !but your best bet is to work as a housekeeper somewhere else or find another job .

Lets talk facts. 

Job description as a behavior instructor: Take care of youth that have behavior problems. Most of these children have suffered a lot in life. They need guidance, and support from the staff to complete treatment. 

Yes, they can become violent but that can be prevented by staying active in the group you are assigned. Keeping a close eye on all behaviors in your class. You are taught prevention skills as well. You will also utilize the family teaching model to help correct behaviors. If you ACTUALLY studying how to teach to the youth and practice, it will work. Focus on the result of it and you will not get discouraged. Practice makes perfect.

If you complain about the job that gives off negative energy and the youth will sense it. Remember, you are there to help them with their treatment plan. Do not be a negative person around children who are in a intense healing process. Of course the job can be hard, but realize the overall goal here- to get your clients to discharge SUCCESSFULLY. Remember boundaries with the clients. 

There are weekday shift that are 8 hours and weekend shifts that are 12 hours. If help was needed on other shifts I was always there to help. Its optional, not mandatory. Lunch is paid if you stay on the site. Advancing is great there as well. Management is great. The comment "They only come out when the storm is over", we cannot forget that they have a job to as well.

Overall, working at Dacus can be tough and rewarding all in the same day. Just remember your safety matters and so does the clients. Work towards helping the clients complete treatment and do not let other peoples opinion get in the way of that. Misery needs company. I loved my time there, and I will always remember how much I grew as a person.

Do not work here. Pay is below most places you could find. McDonalds pays more. As a BI at day treatment you make less than BI’s at other locations though you bill on your clients while no other locations do. Management and therapists only care about making their paycheck and offer no support to fellow employees. I often felt gaslighted by management and therapists in my position as a BI for feelings of no support or lack of progress with a client. They often overlook or disregard physical and verbal threats made by clients. The management does not do anything to advocate for their employees. Coworkers at day treatment location are supportive of each other but that only goes so far when there is no backing of the support from management and the therapist. They over emphasize the teaching family model which works with only a fraction of the client and they expect you to be experts in it and get “certified” even though that certification means nothing for you within Methodist (no pay raise or title change) and would not matter to literally any other employer. Managers claim breaks are available and if you need a timeout you can take one, but this only happens if there happens to be a pool staff which is rare, and when you do take a break, it is treated as an inconvenience for everyone. I have never worked in such an unhealthy and unsupported environment and for it to be a place that serves mental health makes that a HUGE issue. Don’t waste your time applying. 

As a "newbie" I have to say that I am very blessed and satisfied with my position and the team/staff working to make a difference in these kid's lives.
I find the work environment to be clean, orderly and welcoming.  Methodist should ALSO be noted for it's high safety priorities.   
I also have found the staff, teachers and administrative department, at the Maumelle location, to be very helpful,  patient and welcoming!  They are a respectful team of individuals working together to make a difference!  It is also a very orderly environment, yet welcoming to all and laid back, patient care.  
The only con, is the fiscal and medical benefits,  that are provided to the employees.  There needs to be a better compensation package. .. do to the higher cost of living.  
I commend this organization and the staff!  I would definitely recommend MBH to anyone looking for a rewarding giving experience!  I would like to keep my teaching instructor position and even retire, at some point,  from METHODIST! THIS IS MY SECOND HOME!  I AM GRATEFUL TO BE A PART OF THIS HOSPITAL!  This place CARES!

This is a company that offered me what I was looking for in a career. The work they do is very important to the community and very much needed. It is a stable company that has great benefits. I am not one to sit around and twittle my thumbs all day,I have to keep busy and there is always work to be done. I have learned so much about Medicaid and Commerical billing but there is so much that I still do not know and I am striving to learn. Most of my co-workers have become family to me. The hardest part of my job is trying to gain that extra knowledge that I want and need. I have no problem with asking questions if I don't know something but when you are put on hold for months before you get a response or when you have to figure it out on your own through trial and error, it can get a bit exhausting. I have no problem with aquiring information and knowledge on my own. I would rather take matters into my own hands and except responsibility for the results, which more often than not, turn out to be pretty good. What I enjoy most is the work load and the challenges that come with the job. Just knowing that the small contribution I make on the job is helping to make a difference in the community.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Schedule is typically days, I do not recommend this company at all.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
This is the most disorganized, poorly managed company I have ever worked for.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Maintenance department is not separated from administration properly.  This is the most poorly organized and INCOMPETENTLY managed maintenance department I have ever worked at. And that is saying something.  Constant hunt for material, no clear direction, no safety equipment, including electrical PPE.  There are no precautions taken and expected to perform hot work on high voltage systems. You are supposed to hop, skip and jump to cater to the administrative staff.  When you give reasons as to why something needs to be done or prioritized differently you are ignored or not taken seriously.  To top it off, I had to track down my last check which is currently almost two weeks late at this point. Low pay, no growth potential. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Disorganized mountain of a mess.  Sometimes the air conditioning works. Sometimes.

A typical work day was to greet the girls and ask them how they were doing. In some cases they would ask to speak with staff about a  problem or concern.
I have learned that you should keep records on everything you do; just incase you have to talk about it on a later date.
Management was talked to several times or more each day. If something happen at the group home we would let our boss know what took place and we would put it in the transition notes. In certain cases we would  have to put things in  the computer to keep record of what happened. Our boss would give us instructions on what needed to take place.
The idea for the house is to work together with staff to make the living environment good and peaceful for the girls.
The hardest part of the job is when staff is not communicating with one another; that makes the job harder to do. 
The most enjoyable part about the job is when the girls are laughing and talking to one another.  I love seeing the girls happy.

My experience working her was not a good one. 

1. You don't document the way you work. you work 7 on 7 off but you don't document like that.  

2. The kids can hit you spit on you what ever they want, nothing will be done. You will have kids saying that they are going to kill you everyday. 

3. Management will tell you not to do something then tell you to do it,  then tell you that you may get fired if you do or don't do it. 

4. This is a job where the children can and will tell someone that you are hitting them and not feeding them. DHS will open an investigation on you and you could possibly be put on the child maltreatment registry. I know of two people who work for Methodist and was put on the child maltreatment registry. Will you be next! Then no job will hire you.


Working with SOME of the kids who are just in a bad position because of the parents was great.
