What is the best part of working at the company?
You get to help others that are struggling with their mental health. You get lots of trainings on each disorders. The benefits are good.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They don’t listen to their employees instead it’s a toxic, hostile work environment. Leadership is not in the trenches with you and fail to remember what it’s like to be with unrealistic expectations, overwhelming & overwork employees to make numbers. You’re seen as a number just like the clients. They are not person centered as they teach many clients stay stuck in their ways & they continue to allow it because there is not real treatment teams going on to get the clients better.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone is out for themselves… so be careful. No one is your friend. You get in trouble for going above anyones head when your not getting answers from your immediate supervisor and then all of them will say your being defiant. Being in the mental health field you would think everyone has worked on themselves & healthy. But no it’s the opposite here… many employees esp upper management have their own issues & don’t seek help which makes the environment toxic, hostile, and unhealthy such as gossiping, trying to get ppl fired if you aren’t doing what they they think you should or how you should, it’s not team oriented even though they will say they got their your back. They don’t like new employees with ideas that can help and if they do they won’t say anything and take it like it was their own idea and give you no credit to higher ups. Things are constantly changing… as soon as you get use to it one way you all of sudden are having to do things another way. It’s the blind leading the blind and the left not knowing what the right is doing. You would think being around 60 years they would have everything figured out… they don’t. There is too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It’s busy… depending on which Dept & role you work depends on how busy you are. The clinics are very busy with appts, walk-ins & crises. You’re constantly putting out fires. There isn’t much downtime or time to take lunches or breaks. They expect you to get your notes in within 24 hours while seeing clients all day & hitting their numbers because they aren’t meeting them which is a management issue. Many of the management are only available by teams & not in person so many of the staff have to ask each other if need help.

Highlights: 
- expected to complete the job of two people. 
- management doesn't care about you're personal life and while often ask you work after 5pm 
- there is no open dialogue between employees and supervisors 
- The pay looks good until you see all what actually expected of you. 
- doesn't respect boundaries set, especially during this pandemic 
- A lot of great programs for families 

Indepth: 
having worked in other ECI programs I will be the first to say that ECI is so important. ECI role is to take care of the whole family. MHMRTC does a great job of trying to help there families with resources and situations that might be difficult to handle. however, as a therapist be ready to be worked like a day. productivity is pushed hard. if it's not billable they don't care. additionally your pay sounds great from the outside looking in. BUT (and it's a big one) it's because they expect you to be the SOLO therapist to handle ALL things the family might need. So not only are you the therapist but you are also the Service Coordinator. This role use to be a completely separate job however they will tell you as an effort to reduce the number of people interacting with the family they switched to a PSP model, really this model was a way too cut a huge chuck of there employment by giving this full time job to there therapist. be ready to service coordinator upward of 30 kiddos. average caseload isn't realistic I was told a case load of 24 kiddos I am leaving the company with over 35 kiddos. so balancing therapy, on top of service coordination task (i.e., transition paperwork, 3 month complete reviews, etc) you're day becomes pretty full. additionally your pushed to work after 5 pm. I have days I am working till 8 pm. that's insane. they do not respect our personal lives. I could go on and on but I agreed that the family should also be put first BUT you shouldn't run you're therapist into the ground. I am leaving this job burned out and I didn't think that could happen. very sad with my experience here, unfortunately nothing will change. 

85% of the agency functions Monday-Friday with flexible schedules for most staff, managerial or otherwise. Majority of staff are case-workers(QMHP-CS) who work for various grant funded programs. Stress is high as case-worker staff often struggle with balancing time between meeting with patients of the agency and completing clinical documentation needed to receive re-imbursement for services provided by the agency. Agency has low standard for hiring case-workers and can higher staff who are good people but unequipped either socially/mentally/technologically for the job causing patients of the agency to utilize services less and experience both addiction and mental health relapses often. the other 15% of the agency works in crisis services which are 24/7 staffed inpatient crisis facilities working directly with Men/Women/Children with sever behavioral health issues and addiction. These staff tend to have the highest stress levels as their day to day work happens in the same facility as patients live. violence in in-patient facilities isn't common but can happen at rates as high as twice a year. The agency's staff is overwhelmingly female(my guess 75%). This isn't issue except in in-patient facilities where there can be more opportunities for aggression or violence directly toward staff via patients served. Agency experienced recent budget cuts due to state grants for certain programs being voted out causing restrictions on overtime and more staff having crucial hours they need to work to effectively do their job not be recorded for compensation. The agency genuinely wants its workers to experience healthy work life but struggle to do this via the higher demands for more work in less time.

This job offers you the ability to meet tons of characters. There's a constant "here and there" feeling to the work since you're always working offsite, with different equipment, users and software. It's almost like working for an MSP that's solely based as a corporate entity. However, that's about where the good times stop rolling.

Procedure here is an absolute mess. I often encountered issues that had no workable procedure. It often accumulated to asking old techs that have been here awhile. There was little to no way of actual support when it came to some technologies.

The work life balance is also tough. When I started, we had no on call procedure since we had netsmart originally handling our initial tickets. We got rid of them due to poor performance, but since then, the on-call procedures had dominated our rotation, and the company is dead set on it being the end all be all solution for after-hours support. Any thing a user needs, no matter how late or how non-critical the issue is needs to be supported, despite the on-call being technical emergencies only. Management has failed to listen to complaints regarding this problem.

The worst part of this is the communication (as probably indicated above). As a helpdesk technician, our entire team was constantly guessing what changes our Infrastructure team was pushing through. Often, we'd learn about the changes from the user's calling in, often leaving our team to bear the brunt of "not having it together". This was a common occurrence. The CTO is working to improve the communication, but this has come at the cost of more meetings, emails and other forms of communication that draw away members from our already too small Helpdesk team.

I worked as a Service Coordinator for the agency for over a year. I was considered tenure. I decided to seek other employment because there was no consistency with my job expectations. I understood I had to visit my clients and talk to others who knew them well, but I not only had to gather and document these contacts, I was required to take "snippets" of my work. This made me feel unvalued and I questioned why management didn't trust me to do my job. Taking snapshots of my work just didn't feel productive. I had a good relationship with peers, families, and my Program Manager, even my Director was cool. The main director in this department could benefit from more training (ineffective communication, management, unapproachable, workplace culture), she made the job harder, especially after COVID. People in these positions make a huge difference, but my program manager was very supportive. I can say you will be supported by your program manager and their directors. I reached out to all three directors on different occasions and they were helpful. My Program Manager even helped me with a few visits and calls, while there. Now that the state has opened back up, I am seeking a different position at MHMR. I enjoyed working at the agency. I know the agency does great work and there are so many resources. Don't let my experience deter anyone from applying, because there are so many entry level positions. Most of the people are nice and it can feel like a family environment at times. 

Working at MHMR isn’t easy and it is by no means a perfect company to work for, but it is definitely leagues better than other companies. 

I learned many things with the proper online and in-person trainings they provide, received proper credentials for my work and maintained a decent work-life balance. This is the place where I got my first “full-time” job despite working 5 jobs prior, but it seems other companies have a hard time providing hours to their employees. MHMR is different, they will provide hours, but you will be expected to work those hours. Sometimes you might get overtime depending on trainings and/or extra work meetings. PTO could be better, but I like that MHMR provides a “Diversity Day” to use at any time during the year. 

Benefits are great! Medical, dental, vision, life insurance are all there. If you’re studying, they have a tuition reimbursement program. You also get other benefits including Teledoc and Talkspace. Thanks to MHMR, I’m able to have free online therapy. 

Some cons: communication can be tricky. Because you’ll be working with multiple people not just from your center/clinic/building, but also staff development trainers and other facility workers in a variety of buildings. Make sure you follow the training schedules/locations they provide! 

ID begin my work night doing light cleaning and dusting of course id monitor clients hourly and sometimes more often during the shift. then id prepare lunches for the next morning. also had to complete documentation , assist clients with personal care and getting dressed,completing chores.I learned that its rewarding work especially when the consumers ask for you by name if you are out.
I had all but 1 pleasant experience with management. my supervisors were considerate and did what they could to accommodate me if i had prior engagements.We had training classes that taught us how to deal with different cultures. Job pays very low wages even to its senior employees that have been with company for 14 or more years.company requires flexibility and that it be your priority, which makes it virtually impossible to pursue a second job to supplement your income. also; in order to use PTO time the employee has to give up any overtime for that week which defeats the
purpose for an individual needing a break. Also having to be responsible for medications running out, which i feel should be nurses responsibilities.seeing the clients smile after they successfully completed a task and was given verbal praise upon completion.

This is an okay entry-level position for individuals JUST STARTING out in the social services/mental health field. If you have at least two years of experience, you will feel as if you are hindered from utilizing your experience/education to help the individuals you serve. The pay sucks, but benefits are pretty good. My location had a pretty decent team. The doctors and management were pretty great, but you could tell who hated their jobs just by how long they had been there and the complaints they made. If you plan on becoming licensed in something, I would get your hours and move on, cause advancement here is few and far between; you really do have to know someone to move up. This position is also great if you like flexibility: Once you're done you can go home for the day. You get to drive around and go from house to house visiting clients and checking up on them and such. It's kinda fun, but I hate going into other people's houses. Luckily my location had cars to use, which is RARE in this field. Sometimes I had to use my car, but mostly I used the company cars, and if you do use your car you DO get reimbursed very well for mileage. Turnover is high here. Get your hours, get out. This is not a job to retire from, and you can tell cause some people want to leave but they "can't" cause the retirement is too good apparently.

My only complaint, training is way too long! LOL but that's good because they just want to make sure they do not miss a beat before they turn you loose. It's a pretty simple job, you have a caseload of families that you schedule appointments with, visit and make sure they are being taken care of and they do not need anything. You work with their caretakers and service providers and make sure everything with the individuals are copasetic and their rights are respected and protected. Other than the long training, it's a pretty good job to get right out of college to get your experience in social work and while you work towards your advanced degrees if any because they have an internship program available to current students needing field hours. However, if advancement is what you're looking for, you may want to look outside the organization when it is time because there aren't too many positions and opportunities for people with advanced degrees. This is best described as an entry level job. The overall culture and management are great though. They provide lunch to us ever so often as well. I don't think the job should be driven by numbers because you are on your client's and their families and caretakers schedules so sometimes you can reach them and sometimes you can and there needs to be more grace shown in that aspect. 

The things and conversations I have been witness to turn my stomach. There is favoritism and blatant disregard for their own nepotism policy. The “professionals” I worked with wouldn’t last a minute with their behavior and actions in a truly professional environment. Not only do the employees clique harder than high school seniors, no one even cares to help train or educate new staff  and becomes infuriated and indignant if someone asks for assistance. You get zero training from your own manager (because they don’t really know what they’re doing) and you get lectured for not knowing things your supervisor probably should have trained you on...Managment does not care. I have been flat out ignored by my supervisor’s manager when I said hello in the hallway. (I mean, I said hello, they looked at me then looked away and slipped into their office suite with out acknowledging me) I should not have ignored the red flags from the get go but, I did. ie, I was emailed for a job interview, my reply was not acknowledged so I wasn’t even sure I was scheduled to come in... same thing for my second interview...  It really hit me when 5 people left my department (Reporting Unit) in five months. I wholeheartedly regret my decision to accept the job
