Management was awful. The business office is cliquey and nobody talked to me or even pretended like they cared or were interested in getting to know me. There was no teamwork. When I asked if I noticed a mistake made by someone else, if I could go to that person to help them with their mistake, I was told that I needed to go straight to my supervisor so they could handle it, which just felt like tattle telling to me. Once my position moved to the hospital I made a few friends. But once I was at the hospital, I would get in trouble for doing things that hadn't been communicated to me. Management has zero empathy and lacks professionalism. I went to HR multiple times in the 7 months I worked there because of how I felt management was treating me and nothing was ever done. Management in the business office has a reputation for having favorites and the office itself has a reputation for excluding new staff. Stay far far away from a job at the business office (collections, financial counselor, biller, coder).

The upper management strives to make Madison a productive and healthy environment for employees, but their department "managers" are corrupt and unqualified. It is truly shocking that the hospital is still able to function with the excessive level of politics and workplace hostility exhibited by its department managers and other leaders (QTL's, nurse leads, project managers, etc.). It is a hostile and dysfunctional environment. Any employee who chooses not to participate in these workplace politics will have no chance of advancement and will be ostracized by managers and leads. The pay is comical compared to the level of health risks and undesirable conditions employees face every day. Benefits for short-term employees are nearly nonexistent.

I learned valuable skills regarding social media.  During the internship I was the one creating short videos for the company.  I filmed videos and then after edited the videos to ensure that it looked good.  I later posted to different websites such as Youtube and Facebook.  I did other things for the hospital in their Marketing department such as creating blog posts, creating posters, editing pictures in Photoshop, and learned Google Analytics.  The hardest part about the job was when I first started the internship.  I had experience from school but the different projects I worked on was given as an assignment from my supervisor.  He would give me an assignment and if I didn't know how to do it, then I looked it up on Google and every time figured out how to do it.  This was the hardest thing about the job but also the most enjoyable experience.  .

Day to day was spent admitting patients to the hospital, collecting patient information,collecting samples, managing phone systems and collecting payments.

Management is positive and friendly and takes a strong roll in making sure you are trained; and the training is very thorough.

There is a potluck for the admitting staff every third Friday, everyone brings something delicious

Hardest part was the training; lots of information to learn, and sometimes you wouldn't use that information for weeks and then you would forget it, and have to refresh.

Pay is low for national range but medium in this area.It it is a rewarding job with something new everyday.

I love working at Madison Memorial Hospital because all of your co-workers make you feel like you're home and you are apart of their family. Lot's of smiles on everyone's faces. Management is alright and their will always be things to work on, but overall functions very smoothly. Overall a great place to work. Hardest part of your job is dealing with people who are upset and frustrated with their current situation and need I.T. Assistance Most enjoyable is making that issue go away and seeing the relief on their faces and in their voices when the problem is fixed.

I worked at mmh for about 6 months. During that time I made friends but, the management was awful. Everything was really unorganized, every time someone would have a suggestion to make our work easier it was shot down. Night Shift would constantly leave stuff for us to do in the morning and there was no communication between the shifts. Higher ups in the company don’t seem to care about the employees below them. The pay is really unfair for the work and if you went above and beyond of your role the management wouldn’t do anything for your sacrifices. The environment was really toxic as well. Made you feel like you couldn’t do anything correctly for them. 

I like the job and i love my coworkers. Management in the nutritional services is awful. They are petty, passive aggressive, and don't care about their employees' wellbeing. Doctor's notes are ignored and pregnant women are given hardly any accommodations. Managers will avoid confrontation at all costs but will gossip about you behind your back. If you aren't a favorite, you will be unappreciated,  overlooked, and gossiped about. If you are a favorite, you can get away with pretty much anything, including creepy and incredibly unprofessional behavior (like one member of management).
I like the work though and my coworkers are great 

This is the worst place to work. Management allow their favorite employees to show up late to work, no call, no show multiple times, call out sick and leave work early but others ask for a couple days off after years of showing up on time and never taking unscheduled time off and covering the shifts they asked for off and are threatened with being fired. They have physicians who could care less about anyone, including the patients, and practice unsafe medicine. Their hospitalists are sub-par and very inexperienced in real world situations. And don’t give suggestions or offer advice because you will be looked at as a trouble maker and will be shown the door. Such a sad, pathetic place to work.

Great student job, co-workers are 90% amazing. Lots of changes needed for this to be a quality work environment however. Computer operating ststem… terrible. Staff treatment of non medical staff… terrible. Zero appreciation for anyone who isnt medical staff, so expect zero respect from other departments if you aren’t. However they are definitely still angels in the midst of the monsters. But admitting’s boss is an angel, just work with her and she’ll defend you as needed when other departments start whining.

The workplace is different depending on what department you work in. Main admitting is busy and you never know what kind of people you are going to get. You spend a lot of the time chasing orders and telling people that other departments are running behind and you get all the flak for it, unfortunately. ER can either be super busy or super slow, it comes in spurts. LDR is boring and you get maybe 3-5 patients in a day. Overall, it is the same thing over and over again and patients can be abusive. A lot of downtime and the pay isn't great for the work and people we have to deal with. But, it's an easy job and has taught me how to be a better people person.
