This is a great position with a great company as long as you are the right fit. The right person who is successful in this career is a people person that is sales-oriented and entrepreneurial, at least on some level. If someone is interested in breaking into the financial services industry on the client-facing side this opportunity is one that comes with top-notch training and mentorship. I learned important business skills, important leadership skills that are translatable to any career as well as how to get/service clients from start to finish, starting with zero experience in the field or in finance. I was asked to work hard and dedicate myself to building a business but taught the mentality that is important and relevant to successful business owners. If someone is interested in leadership opportunities, there is always a chance to mentor someone else which allows for a fast-track to management and leadership roles for those interested. The perks of the job include flexibility, the ability to make uncapped and competitive income and business ownership.  If people struggle in this career it is often with being able to dedicate the time, work ethic and resolve to build a practice long term while dealing with the bumps in the road involved in building a career while McAdam teaches you how to do it.

My day to day would change constantly depending on client meetings, which take priority over building portfolios, training classes, pursuing prospective clients, ect. I learned a great deal of what full financial planning entails as it is often misrepresented in the industry with regards to just focusing on one area. My manager was key, especially in the beginning, with coaching how to best approach certain individuals, what strategies are more appropriate, and how to build upon my relationships with them. The workplace was very open with a team oriented feel of encouragement. I would say the hardest part of the job would be strengthening your confidence when presenting to higher net worth individuals that are often 2, maybe 3 times older. The most enjoyable part of the job would definitely be the flexibility in terms of traveling to various companies and the experience gained with each meeting/presentation.

McAdam is a place where your hard work can be rewarded. District Management works really well with their advisors. Lots of flexibility with work hours, as you are basically your own boss. Hardest part of the job was getting started building your book of business. You start by trying to work with family and friends,then branch out to the general public. Can sometimes take a long time to get compensated, as the firm works on a commission only basis. Co-workers were the best part of working at McAdam for a young professional. Average age of advisors in the office was something like 25 years old. You have the potential for unlimited upside depending on the hard work you are willing to put in, which can sometimes mean late nights at the office, early mornings into the office and working on weekends. You earn as much as you sell here. Overall, a great experience for a new advisor to learn from great sales managers.

Meanwhile, the day-to-day reality of the business model is an intense psychological grind. While the company markets itself as a strategic advisory boutique, your daily routine is heavily reduced to aggressive, high-volume lead generation and cold outreach. Because the position relies entirely on a high-stakes commission structure with no baseline financial safety net, the pressure to produce numbers is immediate and all-consuming. Instead of having the breathing room to foster deep, long-term trust with clients, you are constantly forced to focus on immediate transactional metrics just to survive.

A typical day at McAdam? Each and everyday is a new and exciting adventure filled with a team of managers who care for your well being and growth within the company. They will teach you the ropes and show you how to achieve your goals one day at a time. This was my first job out of college and I was a little nervous coming into a financial consulting firm as I really knew nothing about finance. McAdam has provided the resources and tools needed to be successful at this company and I could not thank them enough. 

The management team here at Tysons is awesome and we have a great Vice President who has shown her dedication to this office over the numerous years. 

The entire executive team is more than welcoming and forthcoming when help is needed and have been a great tool for all staff!

I am in my third year at McAdam, and I have found there to be great opportunities at the company. Not only for myself, but also for my clients as well. We receive the training that we need in order to be successful, unlike most companies out there. As you progress in your career you have opportunities to assume leadership positions fairly quickly, which gives you invaluable experience. There is a fundamental focus that doing the best for your clients, is always what is best for yourself and your career. Given that we are independent, we actually have the ability to honestly do that for our them. Being able to help people truly gives us a sense of purpose. Lastly, I am surrounded by young, energetic individuals who push me to be better every day. I couldn't ask for a better environment.

McAdam has been a great employer in my time with the company. While they are a new and growing establishment, the vision and track are very good. The management wants to continue its' growth trend, and consistently requests employee feedback in order to keep the company moral high. They strive to build a successful and consistent culture within the company, and have succeeded thus far. I have really enjoyed working for McAdam. 

If you are looking for a career in which growth and success are directly related to your performance, this is a great start into the financial services world.

The days are as long as you make them. It is a great place to start in finance because of the amount of resources and leadership that is provided for new advisers. Management is willing to work closely with new advisers to ensure they are successful. I can't begin to count the amount of times I've had a manager helping me when they had other things to do or during non-conventional hours. The hardest part of the job is riding out the lows and the most enjoyable part of the job is the upside potential, great work environment, and leadership that cares about employees

I've been at McAdam for about 6 years, and can attest to a great company. McAdam is dedicated to helping our clients, and a strong leadership team focuses much of their time on developing successful advisiors. The independence McAdam provides allows you to build a practice that suits you, and the open architecture allows you to help you clients in all aspects of their financial lives. Most importantly, the 3-year training program allows new advisors to get a foothold in a competitive industry, and give them the skills they need to succeed. Not for someone looking for a 9-5, but for someone looking to control their own path.

The technical training is undeniably strong and visible during the onboarding phase. The office environment provides decent networking opportunities and sharpens your professional communication skills early in your financial career. On contrary, the structure is built entirely on commission-heavy pressure with zero baseline income stability, no standard 401(k) matching, and a severe lack of managerial backup. Instead of being allowed to build sustainable, long-term wealth management plans for clients, your day is reduced to an overwhelming sales grind centered on cold outreach and constant prospecting.
