I was with this company for 6 years.  I started off as a cook then became the dietary manager then went to the floor as a cna and then back to dietary to become certified.  This company doesn't care bout their employees lives.  The administrator and DON have the corporate snowed.  I was only allowed to speak when spoken to.  Nobody in the whole facility knew my job.  I was made to apologize for something I didn't do and the administrator and maintenance supervisor watched on camera and seen i didn't do what I was accused of.  They made the only 3 black woman in the building in one department take urine test and had us replaced until we passed.  The ADON has no clue as to what a transfer pole is.  You give these people your all and you are treated horrible. The administrator and don called ex staff trying  to get them to come back and work.  Had a harassment case that was not investigated but they called the person back and offered them back pay and more money to come back.  Put my 30 notice in they so called replaced me with an aide and now are denying me my vacation time.  They are currently running the building with one aide.  As long as your management does not have to work they don't help.  Open door policy is a joke.  Doors are always closed.  Social worker just puts her job on everyone else.  The medical records is not certified in anything and sees more information than people who are certified.  Not to mention she does nothing.  The administrator is a liar. Him and the maintenance supervisor where best buds until i put my notice in and then the administrator quit talking to him.  The administrator talks bad bout every supervisor there.  He don't want the DON, ADON, and social worker there.  According to him corporate made him keep them there.    He lies and says he let's supervisors run their own departments when in reality is what he says goes.  I was made to turn my head when people would come to work high and drunk.  Made to change my schedule because people couldn't get to work on time.  He wanted a cook for double weekends when at first it was every other weekend and the person that he hired quit because they didn't want to be there every weekend.  I tried to accommodate them in every single way possible and nothing was good enough.  They have no team work here.  Missed my child's graduation because the cook the administrator hired quit that weekend,  ADON was there but never once offered to help in the kitchen so I could go to graduation.   Poor MDS they used for everything.  ADON and DON make her cover everything.  The ADON would be there before dietary and would sit in the office with the door shut.  MDS covered the floor all the time while the adon and don went to get their hair cut or massages. 

Medicalodges was one of the most toxic workplaces I have ever experienced. The facility struggles to keep new employees, and after working there, it became very clear why. Instead of welcoming and properly training new staff, many long-term employees created a cliquey environment where gossip, negativity, and workplace drama seemed to be the norm.

Several employees acted like they ran the building simply because they had worked there on and off for years. Policies and professionalism often took a back seat to workplace politics. Staff regularly talked badly about each other behind their backs, only to turn around and act friendly to their faces. The atmosphere was exhausting, immature, and incredibly unprofessional.

Training was inadequate, and new employees were often expected to figure things out on their own. Rather than helping new hires succeed, some staff members seemed more interested in criticizing, excluding, or intimidating them. There was a noticeable culture of wannabe bullying that made the work environment unnecessarily hostile.

The most frustrating part was that management appeared to tolerate or ignore many of these issues. Instead of addressing the negativity and high turnover, the same behaviors continued. When a facility constantly loses employees, it should be asking why people keep leaving. In my experience, the answer was obvious: poor culture, poor training, negativity, and a group of employees who made the workplace far more difficult than it needed to be.

This is a horrible place to work, they expect you to work for them whenever asked, and if u say no they get mad, even if you are well over ur hours for the week. They treat the employees like they are nothing, most of managers act like they are better than everyone, they don’t really care about the people that live at the facility. The managers take a week long vacation like every 2 months but if u request a day off it’s a problem. If something is wrong they brush it off until it becomes an emergency. They always expect people to take extra hours for them but if someone picks up some else shift it’s suddenly they “can’t do over time.” Care givers work their butts off just to be blamed for everything even if we already had told them about to problem and they fail to do anything about it. The mangers say you can come to them about anything but in reality when you tell them something they need to know they won’t do anything about it. They lie to the residents families. when you have pto they won’t let you take off still. No raises whatsoever. When residents have bad behaviors that can lead to serious health problems with staff they don’t do anything about it, they DO NOT care about staff safety. They overwork people, and make people work all by themself, they get mad if u need someone to help u, but if ou go looking for them, most the time there sitting on there butt or outside doing nothing. If you have a doctors appt they get mad that u have to leave, even if u have a doctors note. 

First off there were very few staff that were supportive to any role. But when the going got tough they were sure eager to bad mouth and point fingers to place blame. Very rarely were there training opportunities and when there was they were a joke. 

Sad part? I absolutely loved my job! I loved the people I worked with on a daily basis and I greatly enjoyed my employees. From the time I got up I was actually excited to go to work. I was excited to put a smile on someone's face. The days did make for LONG days because regardless - it was my responsibility to ensure that any after hour calls were taken care of. There was nobody else to really deal with it. Sometimes I would even receive calls from other locations because their "administrators/supervisors/directors"  would just shut their phones off  regardless..... - (and STILL get paid a stipend). Must be nice to have the extra money for nothing! I was told from day one that I was a salary employee and that I received (1-hour lunch breaks.. I didn't get any incentives for being on call) - yet when it all ended, one of the many jokes of a reasons they used was that I was not authorized to do such. I could honestly go on and on. But its done... Its over. So my advice?

If you need a job its a job, but if you want a career find somewhere else.

Everything needs repair making it hard to do your job and depressing. Building falling apart and dirty. Reminds me of a gas station bathroom. No accountability. Nurses expected to do work office staff usually does while they seem to have plenty of free time and nurses can't get everything done in time. It's basically a psych facility but staff don't know how to deal with it to maintain safety and boundaries with other patients and staff. Unacceptable care because lack of policies and procedures and strange way of doing things that wastes time and leaves patients waiting... people running it must have no healthcare experience because they don't understand what they're doing makes no sense. Corporate doesn't care about issues and tells employees who come to them the issues actually don't exist while ceilings and lights are falling because of water damage, floors stained with urine and feces and stinks, and office staff hand delivering faxes around town but swear the fax works fine. Nurses begging doctors just for OTC medicine because there's no standing orders or in house doc.

Don’t work here! Accepted  3 12 hour shifts overnights and about 3 months into working they changed EVERYONES schedule without asking. They completely changed mine to 4 10 hour shifts afternoon shift. Making me lose my pay differential which means I was making less per check for working more hours because of that. Once I finally put my 2 weeks in after finding a better paying job. 5 days after my notice they fired me. They were already short staff as I was the only one scheduled to work that night. PTO I’ve accrue is gone. They don’t pay out for PTO. I’m just glad I was able to let my new job know I could start sooner and they let me. Never got help from management during the days even if you were the only one for the whole build (happened almost everyday) I regret ever accepting a job with them. I love the kind of work I do but working here made me understand why no one wants to work in this field anymore. For the work we do the pay does not accommodate it. Very very sad

I began working there and housekeeping where I was advised to advance to CNA. I received my CNA license after my grandfather was sick from cancer they got  through the process with my hard work. Certified me which gave me the opportunity to care for my own family to say thank you for all they given me because of the administration and staff at medical office. I was able to advance doing my hard work, which I will be going up on 25 years in October. I was given great wages and a chance to advance an opportunities to support many families, even elderly patients without family at all because of that, my heart bleeds for all alike, knowing my purpose in life was to care for others medical watch, supported my growth and gave me a start That would bring me to today. I even applied to go back so that I could get back to them through their own residence for the greatness that they gave me today.

Busy but rewarding. They have shout outs,  open door,  will pay for training, recognition, you're able to share idea's,  great support when employee's has personal health issues. Positive leadership but could use more hands-on assistance, like pass icewater.  Could use more flexibility on scheduling, example is when someone is only able to work Friday-Sunday then honor that scheduling. Hardest part of the job is when staff call in or when a resident passes.  The most rewarding is the residents and floor staff.  Nursing isn't an easy job but it is very very rewarding! We have great CNA’s, CMA's,  housekeeper,  new managers that are trying to change the culture from it being negative to being positive! Come do a tour to check us out and join our team!

Lack of training when I first started. The company rallies when you need them - but “actual” orientation is almost nonexistent.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We work hard to keep it upbeat and professional. The facility employees are tight knit and strive to be positive and provide quality care to our residents every single day!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I generally start a little early because there is a lot to get done every day. I make it a point to take time to listen or talk to as many residents and staff daily. Between regulations & company expectations, I am always busy.

The company has always been open and honest about things that are going on.  Senior management and mid level management work hard to be inclusive. My boss is easy to work with and any time I have a suggestion or idea it is heard openly - it is not always acted upon but that's okay - not all the ideas are always possible.  The hardest part of the job is not being directly involved with the facilities as I was in the past.  The culture of the company is something that is worked on all the time - we are always trying to do better even though we know that not everyone will see the effort - we never give up. The most enjoyable part of the job for me is my colleagues who seem to appreciate my efforts and ideas.
