This is the basic For-Profit model based in an entirely different state (Tennessee) that stopped evolving circa 1996. Priority is budget and budget alone and the budget is based in the 19th century. Clinical collaboration is non-existent and many clinical "services" are still paper based. Facility uses the oldest "EHR" system on the planet (MS-Dos based program) that is unable to communicate with newer technology. The small amount of newer technology that does exist is woefully underutilized due to leaderships lack of training and competence. Your previous training, education, and experience are of no value. This place is just like the Army...they just need a warm body for the position. I've experienced so many weird issues here that the only way I've been able to describe it to an outsider is "Mad-Hatter Tyranny"....let that sink in.

I have very much enjoyed working at MMC. The environment is geared towards always advancing knowledge as well as application of knowledge on a daily basis. The one thing I can say the staff at MMC has taught me is that nursing is 24 hour care, not one shift is responsible for taking care of every single aspect of nursing care, it is a collaborative effort. I enjoy coming to work everyday, knowing that I can rely on my coworkers for anything I may need. The hardest part of ICU care from my perspective is seeing people back in the ICU again and again and continuing to not care for themselves. The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing people leave the ICU after being extremely ill, and recovering from life threatening illnesses.

Management is unfair and play favorites, however, I have read that it is like that at most places. Physicians are NOT in house and nurses are expected to do their job. When brought up to the managers their faces are clueless as if we are the ones that are supposed to catch the newborns. Management does not have an "open door policy" it is more when they are free they can set up a meeting with you. During a meeting you think everything went well until you realize nothing has changed even after both parties agreed on a plan.   Unfortunately, many great nurses left because of the management team and their undesire to accommodate their hard working staff.  

Working at Memorial is a mixed bag. As an RN who worked nights the floor for a number of years, I found that the culture among clinical employees was excellent. Everyone got along, helped each other out, and made work almost pleasant. However, upper administration seems to never know what they're doing and doesn't address obvious issues that are becoming more serious by the day. If you're losing loyal staff members due to not paying competitively, perhaps you should consider awarding loyalty and competence rather than bragging about how many cardiothoracic surgeons or surgical robots you've bought recently.

Memorial Medical center is a great place to work.  The management in some offices is to be desired.  The hardest part of the job is coming to work with difficult co workers.  The most enjoyable part of my job is dealing with all my patients on a professional level as well as a personal level.  I have learned to assist with minor procedures while working here.  A typical day on good days goes very well, but it can all change in a matter of minutes depending the people you work with, but I am able to let them have look past that and get my job done.

Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM mentored me right out of nursing school and I was able to become a well-trained experienced nurse in the field of Med/Surg, Oncology, Telemetry and CCU. All staff, from maintenance crew to CEO, would greet you with a smile and continually make sure everyone was good.  I really enjoyed all the employee appreciation events, and although I have not worked there for over 5 yrs (due to moving out of state), I keep in contact with my former co-workers. It's so nice to know that this hospital just keeps improving and continues to be a great place to work.

Have 15-20 patients to one tech. Check vitals every 4 hrs. Chart daily activity in computer . Assist patient in tranfering, bathing, eating, personal hyigene. I learned to be able to do what I was able to do and not try to over work myself so the patient would get the care they deserved and they would be well care for. The hardest part of the job was finding help when you needed it because everyone was so busy because of the short hand of staff. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with a great staff and growing a great relationship with the patients.

I have to say MMC is not what it used to be. The pay is not at all competitive for what’s in the area anymore, raises are few and far between no matter how competent or reliable you are, higher management claims to want to hear your concerns but does little to even attempt to resolve them, and we are constantly asked to do more for less. I used to love working here, and my coworkers and clinical managers are great, but it’s hard to ignore the other issues at hand. If they can get their act together, MMC can have the best work atmosphere of the hospitals in town. Time will tell.

Working here has been a gateway for me into the medical field. It is a rewarding job in all aspects of the medical field. I enjoy helping patients and their families during their stay. The support and opportunities have always been excellent and I enjoy taking on the new challenges of being a CPOE super user. Working on this team has been very rewarding, not only am I aware of the new changes coming to the medical community but the opportunity to work with all the doctors in various fields and knowing their needs has been very educational.

Las Cruces Memorial Medical Center hired me as a recent grad, and I was very lucky and fortunate that they did. It was here that I was able to perfect my skill, they assigned me a preceptor that took me under her wing and taught me how to perform my duties not only as a surgical tech but exposed me to First Assisting as well. They have Charge Surgical Techs as well as Charge nurses and we all worked together for the common good of our patients. I cant say enough about this organization.
