What is the best part of working at the company?
A wonderful institution for teaching and learning.  A lot of great mentors, and an environment of comradery between colleagues.  I learned a lot of integral aspects of working in a community college environment in my three years at Mercer, as an English Adjunct, composition and rhetoric.  A solid experience.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
A larger space for adjuncts to work and congegrate in.  Otherwise, a very constructive working environment.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There is a great sense of collaboration and respect for all creative ideas among all levels of staff.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
As a teacher / instructor, a typical day is composed of teaching, preping, grading, and meeting one on one with students.

Having been a full time professor I missed the students and the classroom and so became an adjunct at the local community college .

I teach at both the West Windsor campus and the Kearney Campus in downtown Trenton and enjoy the demographic differences between the students and the administrators.

Management does the best they can with the resources the state government provides.  The hardest part is having to interrupt the topics of the course to overcome the students' poor understanding of things they should have learned in high school such as geography and history.  For example, when teaching International Business, few students know where and what countries make up the European Union - oops there goes an entire session!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Horrible place to work, no chance to grow unless you know someone. Co-workers seem like they are all out to get you. Couldn't wait to leave for a better work environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Co-workers and no chance of growth.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone seemed only worried about themselves and really didn't care about anyone else.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I had to ask for more to do because the other employees would not show me anything new even though I was more than qualified and had been in similar positions. It was like pulling teeth to get work to do.

I enjoy the interaction with the students and many cultures in the classroom.  I enjoying learning with them as the world evolves.

The work may be tedious at times, but well worth the end result...which is watching the students move on to the next chapter.

The hardest part of the job is maintaining the students attention at 8:00 am on a Monday morning and meeting the deadlines each week when working on a part-time basis.  However, the rewards at the end of the semester are worth the time and effort spent each day.

There was no typical day, everyday had its own challenges. I have learned a lot from this position. I have learned how to repair computers effectively, help end-users and a considerate way, make sure the request is complete before handing back the product, multi-tasking many different tasks. There was great management who worked as a team to achieve goals. My co-workers were supportive and cooperative. We would form teams to tackle different scenarios. The hardest part of the job was taking on dealing with the high volume of requests. In the beginning it was hard but as my knowledge grew so did my effectiveness at work.

Good environment, very understanding management, good benefits

I don’t think the job is stressful. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very friendly and helpful work space 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Just be on time for the job and check my email and see if l have any holds, make sure computers wiring properly, help any students if they need books or any information about any sources they need for their assignments, and check twice a day the mail room for any incoming mail.

Budgetary issues forced the subcontracting of the Flight Program to another operator. Mercer County Community College had provided one of the best flight training experiences available on the East Coast. Aircraft were well maintained, good Flight instructors and I pride myself with having been one of the members of their staff.

No structure, outdated software, outdated processes, lack of professionalism

A silo work environment where it’s everyone for themselves. Childish

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
All over the place. They want you to perform multiple jobs not within your title to take one for the team.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Learning about Biology and Lab equipment during the work study.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There was limited stress related to my position since I received effective instruction from my Professor.

Supportive and also very educational


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Consistent with task. Following instructions and setting up

A typical day starts at 9 am. with a two hour lecture in class with assigned student. Once lecture has ended the student and mentor resume in the learning center to review lecture notes and complete homework assignments for an additional three hours. Schedule meetings with student to review homework prior to submission. One on one interaction with student to build confidence and time management.
