The work environment is very friendly. I've always felt welcomed and appreciated while learning how a real work environment is. This company is also very understanding in terms of PTO or any time off for wellness and appointments. In addition to time off, there are many in-office and online events centered around health, wellness, diversity, and success. They are very focused on providing inspiring and helpful resources for their employees, making anyone feel welcome at their company. I work mostly remote, which has its benefits, but I miss working in the office. This is a personal preference, but working in the office can help one form closer bonds with their co-workers. If you live close to one of the offices being hybrid is optional, but many positions are mostly remote. I know they offer many opportunities for other positions in the company as well, but I have not entered this process, so I do not know how effective it is. 

Working at MetLife Legal Plans has been an incredibly enriching experience. From my perspective they have figured out the magic formula for a fantastic culture, organic environment, and much more. The culture at this organization is nothing short of amazing. It's not just a workplace; it's a community. The people I work with are more than just colleagues; but operate like a professional sports team! The emphasis on teamwork and collaboration is heartwarming. I've witnessed countless instances of colleagues going above and beyond to support each other, and that spirit of unity is infectious. MetLife Legal Plans has an organic environment that is truly special. The workplace isn't just a physical space; it's a place where individuals grow personally and professionally. The company encourages employees to bring their authentic selves to work, This genuine appreciation for each person's unique strengths and perspectives creates a sense of belonging that's hard to find elsewhere. I'm fortunate to be able to work here and would have applied to be an office plant if the opportunity presented itself!


MetLife Legal Plans (MLP) is well on their journey to becoming a digital product company. Being a part of this journey is exciting and challenging - what a great opportunity!  The best part is that we at MLP are pushing the envelope and forging the way for all of MetLife. 

This mid-sized company has strong roots in customer service and we put our members first. I love that we all think about the member, sponsor, and attorney network experiences, all while making sure our associates (employees) have what they need to do their jobs.

MLP is based in Cleveland, but like many other companies, we are hybrid. We have associates in Washington, down the coast to California, across the south and into Miami, up the east coast, and, of course, in Cleveland. 

I was a Commercial Relationship Manager for many years at several banks in Northeast Ohio.  I developed many good relationships with customers, prospective customers, and colleagues.  I learned that listening is one of the most important skills in any environment.  I also learned that helping customers, prospective customers and colleagues achieve their goals is extremely rewarding.  I also learned that working in a secure and supportive work environment is also of paramount importance.  I have found all of these in my current role as a Customer Service Representative at MetLife Legal Plans.  This is exactly the role and stable work environment I have envisioned as I enter the later stages of my working career.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Hybrid work. 2 days in the office, 3 days work from home. Beautiful office. Some of the people are supportive.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Communication from management and team leader is very inconsistent.  The rules change every day. Very fast paced, very stressful at times.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This place is very clickish. Obvious favorites with managent. I feel they are discriminatory.  Hard to fit in with established employees.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fast paced. On the phones, and sitting in front of computer screens all day.

Best decision I ever made was joining Legal Plans!  I've always worked for larger companies so joining a relatively smaller company was a bit unnerving for me - however, because it is a smaller company, I feel like I am able to make more of an impact by bringing my ideas/perspective and driving it to fruition.  The team values diversity in thought and has incredible leaders (from the CEO to her Senior Leadership Team).  They have created a culture where I feel like I can bring my whole self to work and continue to learn and grow.

Everyone here is committed to helping you succeed and feel included. From the moment I started, I had team members from several departments checking in to make sure I was adjusting well and that I had everything I needed. When they talk about diversity, equity, and inclusion, they actually follow through to make sure their employees are heard. Management is big on having an open door policy. If you have questions or suggestions, you're encouraged to speak up! 

My position has a lot of responsibilities that range from customer service to managing hundreds of attorneys across two states.  Management is always happy to help with any questions or concerns that come up during daily activities.  The work environment is one of, if not the most satisfying environments I have been a part of... everybody is friendly and courteous.  The work load is a lot in my department but there is never intense pressure to get it all done before a deadline as long as you try your best. 

MetLife legal has a great work environment that provides great feedback and help from the awesome management team to the supervisors and employees. Everyone communicates on a daily basis to make the work day a lot smoother with shared knowledge and opinions. They offer great benefits and incentives for all  employees and I love how flexible they are with work schedules and ensure all cultures of the company are recognized.
