Working at the Michigan Neuroscience Clinic was extremely frustrating and demoralizing. I received some training on check-in, but it wasn’t sufficient, and I was led to believe I was doing well. Then, without warning or explanation, I was told I wasn’t meeting expectations and abruptly moved to back office, a role that required check-out and scheduling knowledge I hadn’t been trained on. I was expected to perform tasks I wasn’t prepared for, and when mistakes or confusion occurred, management immediately assumed I was incapable rather than providing guidance or support. Feedback was vague, contradictory, and often last-minute, leaving me set up to fail. Despite doing my best, I was ultimately let go with no clear reasoning. The work environment was toxic; most people were rude, unhelpful, and cliquey, and I felt completely isolated and poorly treated. Overall, the clinic prioritizes speed and appearances over training, fairness, or employee well-being, making it a stressful, demoralizing, and discouraging place to work

I worked at MNC for about 3 years- the job itself is not bad. They mentioned during the interview that they are a busy facility. They were not wrong. I read most of the reviews above, the patients are not employees- they shouldn't be judged by the patients that come in and out of the place. It's how you handle it. The job description does not change, the doctors run the place, it is known working with physicians can be difficult. They give chances to students and willing to train with no experience. For those that mentioned the immaturity of the staff, the employees were young and learning work ethics for the first time, with no experience. The management was very flexible with everyone's schedule. It's a plus to find a place that can accommodate your schedule as best as they could. Also, please keep in mind, management and physicians do not have time to handle coworkers' drama. We all are aware women can be catty and that they think management should solve their personal issues with another coworker. Please keep an open mind when reading everyone's review. I left to continue my education but a great working environment and definitely super busy, makes the day go by quickly. 

I am surprised by the negative reviewers. After I worked here for a year (and leaving to focus on school), I appreciate the balance it gave me. Yes, it is BUSY. I was told this with my first interview. The doctors are particular, but why shouldn’t they be? We had to learn each of their style and yes sometimes they changed how they wanted things done but it’s there choice. I enjoyed my coworkers, management was always accommodating, especially with my school schedule. Which they can be hard to find people that will work with you. If you are going into a medical field, you will learn a lot here, you just have to be open to it and the fast pace.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Definitely not a positive work environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Incompetent staff, poor communication, disorganized management, and very cliquey. Would not recommend.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very toxic place to work. High stress mostly because they dump all the work of their “favorite staff” on one person. They refuse to give proper promotions for the work you put into the company as well. The staff is also quite prejudice and treat other staff members unfairly if you don’t look like them.

The job in itself is stressful, but its no surprise since we are warned during the interview process. However, for the work that the Medical Assistants do just to be paid the bare minimum while there is no room for growth financially is truly sad. There is no paid time off. Its truly hard to want to stick around due to the management and the treatment from some of the doctors. Last, don't believe everything they say to you during the interview. They will not keep up with their promises, I guarantee it. 

This place was horrible. Petty/childish employees, poor/childish management that act stuck up. They play favoritism and gossip too much. Manager dont want to see you succeed they just fire you instead of trying to help you. I wonder why they cant keep nobody except for the "Petty Clique" ...birds of a feather flock together! They need a reality check....FROM GOD! He dont like ugly and Karma dont play games.

As a former employee,
Everyone was like family. I genuinely enjoyed working here, but nevertheless it was very busy especially when working hands on with the doctor. Great experience overall. I was trained thoroughly, and was assisted when I had any confusion. Never had any issues with management or coworkers. Great place to start off in the medical field. 

Management has no control over their people. People do what they want, with no consequences. Negative culture, cliques, gossip about other associates and patients.  
Good if you're looking for a 9-5, however, they will extend hours without telling you.
Training is bare minimum from other associates. If you make a mistake, you will be first to be thrown under the bus.

The work day is busy with the phones, but overall it makes this day pass.  Everyone is very friendly.  Management is very helpful and understanding. It is a great work environment.  Every one is very helpful if you are unsure about something with your job.  Doctors are very busy, so it makes for a very busy environment.

Management
In general, managers at Michigan Neuroscience Clinic sucked. Cared more about what they looked like. Girls who worked worked their didn’t care to train you longer than a day. They are rude if you don’t do something their way even though they would not train you. Was like working with high school girls.
