Job expectations are high and wages are insultingly low. Turnover rate is extremely high and that can be blamed on the terrible management and supervisors. They're like clueless petty children on a power trip. You never hear from them unless it's to provide negative feedback and they have no clue what the day to day in the offices are actually like. The system they work with is ridiculous, and not even the home office employees can help if you need assistance in some matters because no one understands it. This company uses the sink or swim method for training.  You learn everything on your own, and usually by making mistakes and getting reprimanded for them.  I would never recommend working for this company; especially if you're looking for a pleasant work environment or any advancement.  There is no pleasing them. I don't know anyone employed by this company who actually likes working for them. I loved the customers, the county board, and the agents I worked with, but all of the stress that came along with the job wasn't worth it.  If they don't like you personally, they will find a way to get rid of you, regardless of how well you do your job; even if it means attacking your integrity and character. These people are low.  I promise you can find a better job and you could make more money working at a fast food restaurant without near the workload and stress.

What is the best part of working at the company?
You are given great training before you start, and the employees are great.  You also get to meet lots of people, and they have really good benefits.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
On busy days, you just have to keep moving and taking care of the customers.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Each office is different, however, everyone I worked with were great people.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You start the day counting the cash box, checking the drop off box for any payments that came in after hours, answer the phones, take care of customers that come in, do as much as you can to lighten the agent's load such as putting in all new customers information.  You also do endorsements and start claims.

I worked here for 10 years.  I was well trained and had excellent support from the home office if there was anything I needed help with or didn't understand.  Typical day at work would be greeting clients in person and on the phone. Taking payments and working with the insurance agent in the office to process endorsements and answer questions from insureds. Lots of filing, not my favorite thing, but a necessary evil. The benefits and discounts for services is significant and the PTO schedule is more than fair.  Paid holidays and mileage for work errands. I am in a really small town and I really enjoyed visiting with clients when they came in the office.  I would not be leaving if I wasn't relocating.

The good things are: Most of the people are friendly and it’s a relatively quiet place to work. Not many distractions and little contact with the public. They have little events year around that are fun to participate in, but not a lot of people participate in them. You get out early on Fridays.  
The bad things are: Concerns and complaints are not taken seriously. There is poor communication in all departments. They do not replace people after they leave the company quickly, if at all. The pay is low for the amount of work. There is not a clear chain of command. If you want additional training, it comes in the form of training videos. 

No advancement opportunities beyond becoming an agent. Required to do the work for the agents that legally you are not allowed to do because you are not certified. An overwhelming amount of work required per person with no intent of hiring more staff to cover each location. The employees often talk about each other behind each other's backs causing a toxic environment. No manager in office, area manager never around. Required to push the company's political agenda regardless of personal opinion.

High turnover rate in agents due to unfair and unethical treatment of agents . The only company that I know of that puts multiple competing agents in the same office location. EXTREME favoritism and if you stand your moral and ethical ground you will be targeted . I’m surprised they haven’t had a class action suit yet . 

We have to do the work of two people, as we are responsible for the office and for the County Board. Training is a joke because you have to work at least a couple of months in the office before they schedule you to come to Home Office for formal training. You are expected to drive 4-5 hours to Home Office for meetings that are nothing more than a meet & greet, and a way to get your photo taken/updated. Insurance is offered, but the deductibles are outrageous, and always increasing.

24-hour on call with no extra pay. High risk level one policies with high levels of denials creates alot of stress.   Client base often creates a hostile work environment and level of fraud is off the charts. Overall morale is low from top to bottom.  Most employees on all levels are just going throuh the motions waiting an a pension date. 

Expectations can be sometimes challenging. Yearly minimum sales of life insurance policies in dollar amount as well as amount of policy required. Also required to sell memberships before you can sell policies and customer must renew membership when the policy renews or you don’t get paid commission. Company is more focused on rural and outlying areas and doesn’t seem to care about the major cities.

Have good benefits as far as holidays off, 401K, health insurance, HSA, similar to state employment. 
Not much room for advancement. Even with experience they will hire from the outside before moving up current employees. 
Very Political
If you're not friends with management good luck.
Good place to start and get your feet wet in the insurance industry and then move on.
