Mosaic Life Care

You get a phone to log into, which gives you your job assignments for your shift. 
Discharges-You are suppose to clean the bed, top & under mattress, bed frame beneath, wipe all the counters, walls, doors, light switches, trash cans, sinks, bathrooms, floors-it's pretty much a deep cleaning where you use a specific disinfectant solution.
After the bed is clean, you have to make the bed with clean linens that you will find in closets in the middle of each floor typically, and then make sure the patient has towels, washcloths, and a gown.
There are also a lot of special areas in the hospital that might be your assignment for your shift, which each have their own requirements.
If the work assignments on your phone stop due to lack of rooms to clean, you are supposed to be finding busy work like: clean the lounges, elevator areas, side rooms, take out trash at nurses stations, etc.
Some people actually do their assignments and stay busy where others ignore them & hide in their closets or lounges, or take extra breaks in cafeteria. 
Some workers don't show up to their work assignment for an hour after their shift has started or are constantly taking extra long breaks.
Some like to go to Starbucks after they are clocked in or the gift shop or just hide out in a lounge to be on their phone for a while.
When people do show up to their work assignment, you will see many that are constantly on their personal phones & taking lots of bathroom breaks.
Once they break for lunch, the "closet dwellers"  will then disappear, sometimes for the rest of their shift.
If you share a closet with them, you will see their phones on their carts with STATS on them that they are ignoring.
Management is aware but there are no real consequences.
It is sad, because the hospital is filthy and there is plenty to do. 
EVS is the first line for infection control and too many don't care about it. 
They have a point system for calling in but there are people who have gone way over on their points but get them taken off, while others are fired for reaching their 21 point limit. 
If you are a good worker, you will be overworked & forced into areas that other people refuse to work. 
At the interview, you will probably be told,  do a good job, show up and be on time & 6 mos down the road, you can transfer to another dept if you choose.
But the reality is, if you are a good worker, they can deny your transfer out of the dept.  (As I've been told by more than one person)
If you work the weekend, there are no mops or rags to do your job.  Laundry department only works Saturday and not on Sunday.
People hoard supplies & you have to hunt for them when you need them.
Vacuum cleaners are junk & mostly broke or non-existent.  You are left to sweep the carpeted areas with your flimsy small broom.
If you actually do your job, it is very physically demanding with miles of walking, literally, so you will need to invest in really good shoes.
Training is inconsistent, some people get trained where others seem to get thrown into things.
Also after 60 days or 6 months, don't expect any kind of raise, no matter how good your performance and attendance has been.
In order to have the best medical coverage with their medical plan, Aetna, you are forced to use Mosaic doctors.
If you really need a job, and you don't care if you work your butt off while others don't, then this may be the job for you.
I like the medical field, and found some of my work assignment areas that I cleaned in, to be interesting.
If you genuinely care about people and want to make the hospital a safe & clean experience for them, I commend you for it. 
I did too when I first first started, but it quickly wore off when I saw how many people don't take the job seriously.   You feel defeated because there is no way a few people can clean a whole hospital.
I did enjoy some of the co-workers I worked with & meeting people in the hospital.

During my tenure at Mosaic, I had both great and not so great experiences.  I needed to be able to work from home for health reasons, and they allowed me to do that.  I was also able to take time off for bereavement when my mother passed - and they were more than accommodating in that regard.  
However, the manager during my time didn't know IT and treated the department as a call center.  People with little to no IT knowledge and experience were put in charge of large projects that they had no clue how to handle.  Also, the manager was so "hands off" that some team members were allowed to get away with a LOT of things - such as not working tickets, or not working issues properly.  
But overall, my time at Mosaic was something I will always look fondly on.  And now that they have a new manager, I hear that this department is ran much much much better and more efficiently.  
Annual raises were a bit less than expected - especially when getting glowing and rave reviews from leadership.  

My experience was not the best here, but it wasn’t terrible. I had very helpful people who guided me during my training, but the atmosphere can sometimes feel hostile. Coworkers like talking about each other and I somehow got involved in drama just for being at work and hearing people talk. Older technologists also acted superior, which makes sense, but don’t act snobby just because you have a higher education and more experience. Besides that, the workload was often above our pay grade because we’d do tasks that we were not typically meant to do. Overall, I liked being a processor and the “keeping to oneself” without having to really interact with people besides phone calls, asking questions when necessary, drawing blood, and occasional banter with coworkers was great. In conclusion, the job was enjoyable and sometimes stressful, but the atmosphere and people did not lighten up my experience. I did not retain any true relationships from working there. With that said, I am an introvert. If you’re an extrovert, you’ll love it here plus the workload and excessive stress. 

I worked day shift and it was continuously busy. Many times I didn't receive a lunch break or dinner break. These patients were coming from surgery or going surgery. They had physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. They were have several tests that needed to be performed such as X-ray, CT Scan, labs, etc.
The management changed while I was still learning the ropes on this floor and was less helpful. They appeared to be helpful, but then I ask too many questions. I hadn't work in Med/ surg before and 6 weeks of training will not ever give you all the training you will need to be successful. Conditions of patients can change rapidly and appears they are always short handed. Management doesn't understand when the PCA don't do their jobs that the nurse has too. I had several times to do PCA job and mine because the PCA would go get their break and not even tell the nurse they left the floor. 
This job was the hardest job and less appreciative from the employer/ management. They want you to be treating the machines and not the patients.

I absolutely love Mosaic Life Care! It was one of the best companies I have had the pleasure to work for. The health care benefits were sub par, and management organization was lacking, however, management genuinely cared about the client, which made the negatives easier to deal with. If the area I covered: from Platte City, MO., to Union Star, MO., and everything east and west of those locales (and I was the only therapist for that vast territory, and shared an assistant with the only other OTR, who was responsible for the northern part of MO.), I would have gladly stayed. However, living in Overland Park, KS., was an hour commute just to get to the area I provided services for. Unfortunately, my husband had an unanticipated hospital stay this last June, which left him needing 24/7 care. I need to work closer to home, as the commute got to be too much for me to keep up with. 

I worked there for almost 13 years. They had been trying to get rid of my department for the last 2.5 and COVID-19 give them the excuse they needed. Apparently, having someone schedule an oil change for you is more important than proper medical documentation. I loved my job and they people I worked with that. I am not saying my managers weren't great, but they were not all really qualified to do the job, thank goodness there were leads to pass the buck to on a lot of things. They money was nice although there was another side that did the same job and made way more than us for the same work. The bonuses, holiday dinners were nice and I do think for the most part they do appreciate caregivers. But, unless you are just mean, not really qualified or good at knowing how to "delegate" your job to others, you will not get ahead here.

There is good and bad at every institution. The leadership among lower management is amazing. Unit team leaders truly care about their people and their team functionality. They try their hardest to have safe staffing ratios and time off for their staff. There is [typically] amazing teamwork among staff on the floors (with a few exceptions, as always). Unit team leaders hands are tied by executive leadership and sometimes they don't make the best decisions for the unit and/or hospital. The old ICU should be converted to an extension of the ED, as the ED is always overflowing (hallway beds, into the cath lab and GI lab), but they haven't made that call yet even though it makes the most sense for the community. 

Overall, I enjoyed working there more than I have anywhere in my life because the level of care and compassion among staff members is amazing. 

A typical day is usually fast paced and fosters a learning environment. The company's attempt to grow and expand has been at the expense of their loyal employees. The permanent job cuts have created an uncertain and unsettling workplace culture for many employees. Many hard working individuals at every level have been let go, yet they continue to maintain multiple management positions that may have a place but do not bring in revenue.  Overall, the organization should examine the salaries of all the leadership positions and make cuts at this level before decreasing the staff caring for the patients. The hardest part of the job is watching the organizations attempt to grow at the expense of others livelihood. The pay scale is not as high as one would expect. The most enjoyable part of the job is the co-workers and a teamwork atmosphere.

a typical day of work consists of high acuity patient's, many of the patient's have multiple medications per intravenous route. I have learned time management, critical thinking skills, how to care for multiple critically ill patient's ranging from a septic shock patient to an open heart patient, how to communicate with my co-workers and physicians, and how to communicate with the families of these patient's to keep them informed as well. The hardest part of my job is watching so many young people be in a critically ill situation, not knowing whether they will be there the next day/night you go back. The most enjoyable thing about my job is the reward of watching people go from being so ill to being discharged from the ICU or even at times we have discharged them home from ICU,  and being recognized by the family of the ill patient when you've done a job well done.

I worked at mosaic as a travel nurse on the med surg/neuro/ortho unit from January to May. I had to cut my contract short due to personal family reasons and I was actually very saddened. I enjoyed my time greatly at mosaic.  All the caregivers (hospital workers) are very friendly, easy to talk to, great team work between the departments even during a disaster or stressful event, team leaders (director and asst director) are very helpful and get on the floor to help patients when needed, answer lights, etc. There’s someone who has your back if you need it at all times. I can’t say anything about the pay cause travel pay is different but the techs and nurses all seemed satisfied. If it were local I’d work there full time.
