The company culture is wonderful. They truly give back to the community. Unfortunately, management in this department holds employees back from opportunities offered in the company and does not adhere to the companies strict no bullying and no violence work standards. There is zero trust between employees and management which makes for a stressful work environment. Many of the employees are on medication to cope with the anxiety and stress of coming to work. Those who speak up are punished because it is labeled as personal conflict, which leads to termination. The most enjoyable part of the job were the coworkers who helped each other get through the day and the hardest part of the job was trying to decipher the expectations, or lack there of from the management team. The company has placed their future in the hands of a department with a high turn over rate and employees who do not trust leadership. Knowing that hindsight is 20/20, it was probably not the best idea. The company has a wonderful job and home life balance, and depending on which department you work in, it would be a career for life. Unfortunately, people who wish to transfer or who report workplace violence and bullying are terminated.

The benefits of working for this company are outstanding. 3 weeks vacation to start, 401k, paid health insurance and a pension. They also do an annual bonus based on NPS. 

After many years with the Company you start to learn that most of the employees are miserable. There's plenty of reason behind that. The workload and expectations set are way too high and all they care about are the numbers. At the end of the day as much as they shove the company culture deep down your throat they don't care about you. You are there to work from the start of your shift to the end and that's it. 

The job duties are overwhelming and demanding. If you're looking for a Company that runs you into the ground, then NYCM is for you!

At nycm your production n quality is not all that matters. At first you think it's a great place with fun supportive people. But, eventually you'll discover that nothing is ever enough, and it's highly competitive for no reason. They advertise being flexible, but if you or your family have any health issues and you need to take time off, you will be punished! You can have the best stats in the department and they still will fire you for no reason if you don't fit the mold they want you in (yes they can, and they do). Every year before bonus time the company starts offloading people, from what I've been told and seen...Low pay, terrible health insurance, bad hours and awful management.

They don't pay your worth at all. Even with years of direct experience you will undoubtedly start very close to the bottom of the range. The are making record profits and paying you like garbage. Though you may be hired for full customer service, they will shamelessly stick you on scripted calls for a month or more while you wait for the real training to start.  You will feel a little duped/cheated on multiple fronts. Their IT department is laughable and had us waiting days AFTER starting to even be able to log in. They will shove their culture down your throat to try and hide the dysfunction across the board. Don't have a disability either because the lady that handles that will laugh at you.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Micromanaging of the claims team. Standards not the same across the board. There is no accountability and they play favorites.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They promise an inclusive culture bit when you get in there that is not the case.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start work at 7:30. Handle insurance claims. If there is not Mandatory overtime.

I work mostly remote but being on the phones 10 hrs a day is a lot and we are now timed in our calls but also want to make a good connection and experience for the customers. So it’s hard to keep the numbers up at times like placing a claim or accident in a vehicle trying to get all into. I don’t want them knowing I’m just looking around in here because I do love my job but living alone in this world is hard to live 

I love working for NYCM, one of my favorite parts of working for NYCM is that we have an opportunity to work from home on days that we need to. The supervisors make you feel empowered to make the correct decision. There are stressors in this job just like any other job, we strive to make our customers happy and when a customer calls yelling and there is no way to make them happy its stressful. NYCM hires employees and keeps employees who are here for the right reasons and it shows in our culture and day to day work.

If you are in mid-level management, it is difficult to move up or get promoted. The company has a female CEO, but still is behind the times with diversity, equity and inclusion and offering females the same advancement opportunities as men. The flexible schedule and benefits offer a good work-life balance and the wellness program is top-notch. Overall, the company is good for learning and educational opportunities but not for growing a career.

The company (customer service specifically) pushes the 'family' aspect. But you are a number, and your numbers define you. You are micro-managed to the second, and when you bring up issues to managers, they pretend nothing ever happened, management will never change.  This job is mentally and emotionally draining, but you better shape up because your numbers are falling.  Would not recommend working here if you value your mental health.

Work hours 8 am - 4 PM Monday thru Friday.  Friendly environment, with caring, helpful employees.  Employees available to help each other, and provide excellent customer service to our customers.  Managers always available for you.  Atmosphere is upbeat and happy and we are always looking to help out in our community and donate to charitable organizations etc.  Customer Service is #1 priority and we do our best to be #1 for everyone.
