Countless employees at every level of this organization have spoken up about the deplorable working environment created by management. HR either turns a blind eye or retaliates in termination of the employee. Employees are now scared to death that they will be privy to career homicide by this company's vindictive practices. The current level of employees leaving due to termination or by their own choice has severely decreased overall employee morale. Many employees quietly and desperately seek employment elsewhere and hope that Natera doesn't come after them like they are so many who choose to leave. The lack of ethics is surprising  for this industry supposedly to better women's health. We were supposed to be working for patients and improvements in care but we instead  have been  pressured more often to do what is right for company profits. The multiple lawsuits this company is involved in speaks to their overall focus and misdirection. They are willing to take the legal consequences/fines over doing what is right ethically in the first place. They intimidate both current and former employees instead of staying focused on creating an actual product that is better than their competitors. This does not help anyone. They seem to have lost sight of what is important to our customers and their employees. There doesnt seem to be any real direction anymore. It seems as if at every turn there are more  beating their chests hoping to scare everyone into submission and hopefully some sales so they can make millions in inflated stocks.   If may be more helpful if they refocused their energy into creating a better actual product and away from harassing and suing employees. Then they may have the revenue they are seemingly lacking to be a successful company. I wonder if all the legal fees they have spent were redirected to product development if they would actually be profitable for the first time. They may consider this as a new direction. For patients,I hope this company can remember why they started.

The other reviews are correct, management is very immature at this company and quite frankly, this company lacks management altogether. The CEO hardly ever shows up to work, and on the rare occasion that he does, he hardly interacts with other employees. I have no idea what the direction of this company is, I just know that they need to make $ asap and that means pushing down on others. Anyone who's good knows better than to stay at this company. When I meet people who are smart, I wonder why they are at this company. It's true that there's a lot of bullying going on, I've seen the Sales and Marketing VPs bullying people and take advantage of their positions. This company is going through a lot of growing pains and part of the problem is that not very many people from the top to the bottom have public company experience... or management experience... or experience in general. You have people who are Directors who have no clue how to really do their jobs, I've seen this across the board in many functional areas. You have some really talented young people who are amazing at their jobs and significantly underpaid and undervalued. Employee recognition is not consistent at this company, it's true that you need to ask or you will not receive. There is no HR review process for annual reviews and bonus payout. Promotions and raises are very ad hoc here, there's no standard process. I can count the number of people on less than 1 hand who are actually talented and smart, but then I haven't met the whole company... 

So why would anyone join this company? A job is a job. If you have no work experience this is a good place to get some if you're willing to learn. They take a lot of inexperienced people in and train them. If you're looking for some quick growth in your career you could probably get it here. This company does not run background checks so if you have a criminal, drug or debt record, they will never know or ask. There's a lot of C and D players here so if you're a B player you have a chance to shine. This place is really disorganized and crazy so you have an opportunity to come in and "fix" things and make a positive difference.

- Go in before scheduled, attend any team meetings for the day, look at what the other shift has left in the EOS, and formulate a plan with teammates on what to do for the day. Rest of the day is a mix of working in lab, taking breaks + lunch, and utilizing free time to do any office work or training.

- Learned how a clinical diagnostic company can function with 1 part of their lab workflow and the lab preparation and processes behind it. My team was also pretty strict with avoiding sample mismanagement when it came with the higher-ups. As a new hire, you'll come to learn really fast how low-tolerant this is and potential consequences. This was my first job in the biotech industry so it was pretty eye-opening to how things can function in this professional setting.

- Management seemed pretty distant. They are usually around the office space and I rarely saw them in lab. Only saw my supervisor either during meetings or when the lab has an inspection or audit.

- Different teams felt pretty isolated from each other and my team members felt cliquey with the more senior colleagues that have worked together longer.

- Getting along with coworkers was the toughest part for me. Some coworkers seemed unapproachable. Had trouble feeling a sense of belonging on the team with seemingly constant critique about my performance with very little mentioning of people seeing improvement. This affected my performance and communication at work with the stress of not knowing how honest I could be with others without negative feedback and whether or not I was doing a good job.

- The benefits and pay are good. Was pretty happy seeing my paycheck and getting catered lunch delivered every shift. There's an occasional team boba tea orders too.

Let me start by saying that I deeply admire Natera’s mission and the profound impact it has on people's lives. That being said, certain behaviors during team calls by executive leadership have created an atmosphere that is perceived as disrespectful and humiliating. This issue is not about the presence of constructive criticism—which is both necessary and valued—but about the manner in which feedback is delivered.
Our opinions do not matter. If we speak up during a call, we are ridiculed and humiliated for our opinion, so many just keep quiet. This kind of culture can deeply impact morale, trust, and productivity. Treating people respectfully leads to employee retention. The request for reports or other information from 2 ADs in particular is often unclear and ever changing. It is impossible to make them happy and they enjoy humiliating you on calls in front of many others.
There is no chain of command here at Natera. You receive many requests from leadership that you do not report to either directly or indirectly. The chain of command should be respected. It is actually bullying and HR does nothing about this. I, as well as many others sent HR a letter providing details and providing names of Directors and VP, still nothing has been done. The intent was to make Natera a better place for those still there; however, HR did nothing and continues to do nothing as I still have contacts there who are actively seeking alternate employment. Public embarrassment can have a lasting psychological toll. I encourage leadership above the RCM VP to speak to the entire RCM team confidentially to hear their thoughts.


This company is mismanaged and abusive. It's too bad, really, because the science is amazing and the product is - against all odds - doing really well.

Upper management is childish and bullies other employees (even actually screaming in the hallway). There is no actual strategic plan in place, and plans change on a daily basis. They lost their CFO and VP of marketing within a few months of each other - this is a significant red flag. There is no clear marketing leadership, and marketing pretty much runs the company. There is no transparency and communication is nonexistent - this means efforts are often duplicated and timelines are often missed. Also, timelines are set by the sales team, and are ridiculously unreasonable such that employees are forced work significantly more than 40 hours per week. There is no such thing as work-life balance (employees have gone on disability for stress, and many have quit or are looking for other work). There is no such thing as a merit-based raise or advancement - if you don't ask you will get nothing. Compensation is a joke - there is no standardization, and they underpay and generally undercompensate very qualified employees. I would not have chosen to work for this company had I known that management was a bunch of good-old-boys. 

The science really is great and the products are amazing - I want the company to do well despite management, not because of it. The employees/my coworkers are amazing - a bunch of motivated, smart, hard-working, fun people. It's just very hard to do your job well in the face of such blatant mismanagement.

If understanding your compensation goals is important to you and you are used to structure and organization, this is NOT a company for you.  

If you have ethics regarding billing practices, this is not a company for you as 50 shades of grey is not enough to cover the levels they create to segment their shady practices in the name of creativity (all the while pointing fingers at others)  If you have ethics at all, you will probably have moments of feeling uncomfortable inside ... that is your conscience telling you to RUN!!!

If you enjoy being spoken down to by people who fly by the seat of their pants and confuse their stock profits with their IQ points as ego maniac narcissists, then sign a contract for 25-50k less than their competitors pay and enjoy the ride!!

But if you choose to work for this pretend science company, ruining your career credibility, I must ask you....What else do you like??? Getting mugged?? It’s the same sensation..

Work somewhere they appreciate you more like a maximum security prison or a middle school...

PS. Beware of the sponsored “fake reviews” to counter actual employee reviews... they are not hard to spot as the only thing missing in the pros are the Unicorn rides and free puppies

I was a contractor at Natera for two months. It took me a month to get access to the all of the systems. Training was very informal and all over the place. I was told to do about six different roles on top of my own. Whenever someone didn’t feel like doing their work, it was passed off to me. I really didn’t have a problem with that, but I think it did more harm than good. I was able to get my work done as well of the work of some of my other colleagues, but yet and still my contract was ended due Natera’s systems not updating that my work was being completed. That is what my manager told me. If she had came and asked me before ending my contract behind my back, she would have known that the work was completed. We had meetings at least three times a week and not one time was I advised that I wasn’t completing any work. My contract started around the time a lot of people take off for holidays as well so communication between sites and internal colleagues was very slow. I think it was very poor and lacked integrity to go behind my back and report to my agency that work was not getting done when in all actuality, the systems were not updating reflecting the work was completed. That was no fault of my own. I believe my manager acted in poor taste and my overall experience with this company was very poor.

The management here (if you can call it that) makes this place a horrendous place to work.  They are (for the most part) under qualified, definitely inexperienced and are just terrible, terrible leaders.  There are a couple who are OK, but the screaming and verbal abuse going on is actually shocking.  The employees are underpaid (by a lot!), overworked and undervalued, and definitely unappreciated.  I personally worked more than 70 hours a week and was actually told I am not doing enough, that I need to do more!  

Unfortunately their investors and people who could make a difference will never read all these negative management reviews.

The patient contact, free food, etc was cool but for the most part do not pay even the slightest attention to the five-start ratings on here about this company.  They are managers who planted the ratings and they are a joke.  Speaking of jokes, don't even get me started on the pay.  My stress level was so high that even though I'm in my 20s I was considering taking blood pressure medication, and no I am not exaggerating.

All this is too bad because the products are beyond awesome and the employees are A-MAY-ZING, and if they actually had some qualified managers and a neat, organized, non-disheveled, good work environment (you ought to see the place) it would be a good place to work.

If you work here expect it to be a temporary thing. Theres 0 job security. They will decide at any point to put people on a "PIP" telling you that you need to show improvement but will fire you a week or 2 later for failing to show those improvements. Soak up the pay and benefits while you have them bc that was the ONLY good thing about this company. Management is awful, no guidance, no support, and expect you to inform them and report up instead of getting instruction from the mgmt team to relay back to your staff. If they do give you any instruction it will change moments later and they will question why you are doing that and thats not the right direction or task to work on. Its totally backwards. The executive team likes to put you on camera and basically laugh in your face and make a mockery out of you. Its a total bully environment. My time there I never slept so poorly in my life- had anxiety every single day/night over the fears of losing my job and how I can do better. All I can say is thank you for terming me! I am back to being able to sleep peacefully throughout the night and anxiety is gone! Worst and I mean worst company I have ever worked for.

My experience working at Natera was extremely disappointing. While the company promotes innovation and patient impact, the internal culture does not reflect those values.

Leadership communication was inconsistent, and expectations frequently changed without clear direction. Teams were often understaffed, leading to heavy workloads and unrealistic productivity demands. Burnout seemed common, and turnover was high, which only made the environment more stressful.

There was also a noticeable disconnect between upper management and frontline employees. Concerns raised by staff didn’t feel acknowledged or meaningfully addressed. Instead of focusing on sustainable growth and employee development, the culture felt reactive and metrics-driven at the expense of morale.

Compensation and advancement opportunities did not align with the level of responsibility and pressure placed on employees. While there are talented and hardworking individuals at the company, the overall environment made it difficult to feel supported or valued.

I would encourage leadership to focus more on transparency, employee retention, and work-life balance if they want long-term success.
