A typical day at work is touching base with our staff and having clear expectations set forth to provide the best patient care possible.   We provide our staff with the tools and resources to do their job efficiently.  Our goal is to ensure every patient is taken care of appropriately and all questions and concerns are answered.  We have  quality assurance and auditing to ensure this is taking place. 

I've learned a lot while working here including they reasons why we have certain workflows in place, why it's important to actively listen to our patients throughout the entirety of each call, and utilize our critical thinking skills to obtain a one call resolution.

The Management team is excellent.  Everyone works very hard with the same goal in mind, to provide world class patient care to every single one of our patients.  We work collaboratively and foster a team-oriented environment which drives results.  The Management team is very good at communicating and ensuring all staff has everything they need in order to do their jobs effectively.  Everyone always makes time for their staff, no matter how busy their day may be.

The workplace culture is a positive one.  Everyone loves to help one another.  We touch base with our staff on a regular basis to give them all the tools they need to be successful.  Everyone has an equal opportunity to grow within the company and we set clear expectations on how to do so.

The hardest part about the job is also one of the most rewarding.  It's giving every patient the best service possible and ensuring we answer all of their questions and assist them with everything they called in for.  While we do have calls in queue, we ensure we give our 100% focus to the patient we currently have on the phone, before moving on to the next call.

The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing our staff get compliments from patients.  It means we, as a whole, are doing a great job and going above and beyond for our patients.  We have the same goal in mind for our staff, always going above and beyond being innovative with coaching practices, team huddles, ensuring they have everything they need to do their job well.



Like all healthcare jobs, they will stretch you to your breaking point and get upset when employees react negatively. 

Pros: some of the drs are nice, and occasionally you do actually get to help people.

Cons:
Float staff constantly because they cannot see how failure to treat employees well leads to lack of retention. There’s no shortage of people willing to work, there’s a shortage of people wanting to do jobs that are blaring red flags with subpar pay. 
Burnout is rampant due to almost no holidays off. Float days instead of holiday pay. Expect to come in on the Friday after thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Labor Day, etc. 
When you quit, don’t expect them to offer you anything, they see you as disposable and you should see them that way too from day 1. Pretty depressing seeing patients die, but that is healthcare. Management isn’t present the way they should be because of constant spreadsheets. All departments do endless spreadsheets, but totally miss out on patient care because everyone is too distracted making the numbers. Call center is a nightmare. Lack of staff means constantly doing multiple jobs. The pay does not make up for it. Other places can pay better. Staffing will contact you and place you on the schedule even when you are literally hospitalized. 

Lastly, employees don’t get written up for things they absolutely should get written up for. It’s because they don’t want to have to fire people and risk losing more staff. 

This office can’t retain staff because it’s so busy with patients and the pay just doesn’t make up for the amount of work you need to do. Additionally, staff members from the city offices don’t get promotions as frequently as the LI offices. Management is rarely hired from within for the city offices. 

Perhaps the worst part is that we lose fantastic staff members, people who really love healthcare, because of all the above. I’ve met some wonderful people and made great friends, and it is a shame that few of them work here anymore. The one thing a patient needs when walking in the door is care. But we cannot give that properly in this environment, and it hurts to see people who WANT to help them be so overwhelmed/busy/burnt out that they can’t help the way they normally could. That is what MSK has over NYCBS: patient care is at the forefront. When you call the referral line, it’s easy to understand who you are talking to and what the steps are to get help. No partnership will change a bad business model. 

It’s not that employees don’t want to help people, it’s that it’s tough to be under appreciated and underpaid. 

Nepotism will get you far in this company. They smile in your face but talk about you behind your back- from staff all the way up to management. Many offices are not given the same “luxuries” as other offices I.e. - chemo mixers, unit coordinators( scheduling) or at times adequate staff to ensure everyone gets a proper lunch break. Employees are mandated to have vaccines yet patients are not required to be COVID tested prior to infusions like most hospital infusion centers are. Sometimes you can’t get a lunch break until 3PM when your shift started at 8. Some offices are cramped and uncomfortable to work in. They hire many new graduates who often lack the experience/iv skills/ to work at your location which at times slows down the workflow- without a replacement being sent so that training is done appropriately. If they have call outs, they float you to different office and base it on “the needs of the patient”. You could be hired to work in a specific borough but will float you to another bc of “ the needs of the patient”. Some nurses are floated to 3 different locations in a week without even been asked if they want to. The locations can be in the same borough but if you’re hired to work one, or two specific locations, you shouldn’t be floated unless you are willing to.   They allow you to continue to use PTO despite not having accrued the hours so that they can deduct the balance off of next years PTO. Many nurses are overworked, exhausted, and become sick - often putting in long hours. Many offices do not have an appropriate nurses station with proper seating to support our bodies/back. Most office do not have a break room! Or a big enough space for everyone to eat with distance! The nurses can complain but it falls on deaf ears- they are expected to deal with it. Seemed like a great place to work but there are way too many jobs out there especially with a shortage to have to settle for less. 

The work I did was fulfilling as I was able to help patients and receive positive feedback from providers, some management, and patients. It felt gratifying knowing that people are appreciative of the work. However, there are many discrepancies with how certain departments are operated and lack of straightforward communication has led to more stress, a more hectic work environment, and lack of compensation for additional work that some people kind of get thrown into. 

My biggest complaint: HR department might be the most useless department out of any place I’ve worked previously in. When in need of help, HR would refer to a different department that wasn’t qualified to handle the issue and it feels that you can be overlooked very easily for hard work, despite what supervision may say. There are good people who deserve to be in the positions they are in, and then there are people who know how to “play the corporate role” and have blatant favoritism for people in certain departments that almost seem to abase other workers in similar departments that I felt worked harder and stayed focused on tasks at hand rather than trying to be friendly with upper management to manipulate opportunities that another hardworking individual may be better qualified. I don’t feel anyone should have to advocate so hard to receive proper attention to serious concerns and for being able to represent yourself outside of being another number in the system. I’ve seen shady things occur in other jobs, but the lack of knowledge that some people in management positions have is actually wild. 

Very easy to see the “business” overthrow the “healthcare” aspect

This company will suck you dry. They literally will hire anyone. People's lives are on the line and management looks the other way when constant mistakes are made by people that cant do their jobs. Poor communication with management, and you are treated as truly just a number. Constant change in workflow, and nobody is ever there to answer your questions or help you. You are left to figure it out on your own. Management could rave about you but will not give you a promotion or pay raise. This company is way too big, "too many hands in the pot." I would not trust being a patient here along with the other hundreds of practices they run with NY health divisions. Never worked for such a terrible company. I would rather take a pay cut than work here. I am embarrassed to work here. You will get written up for too many call outs despite documentation, but you can really mess up patient results and they wont do a thing but give you a slap on the wrist. There is no set time of going home whenever you are finished you are finished whether it is your scheduled time or 3-4 hours later, nobody will come and help you. All communication is done via emails and never is there someone hire up to speak to in person about your concerns. This place is a trap. I would not suggest this company to anyone. I've never left a bad review on a company before but this one really does a number on you.

This was one of the worst work environments I’ve ever experienced, due entirely to poor management.

I was hired as a float phlebotomist and initially trained by two excellent employees who were knowledgeable and supportive. Unfortunately, both of them were fired shortly after, and no transition or support plan was put in place. I was left new to the role and expected to fend for myself with no proper guidance.

During this time, I was harassed by two other phlebotomists who were also in training. Management was aware of the situation and did absolutely nothing to intervene or support me, allowing a hostile work environment to continue.

After the two employees were fired, staffing became so poor that I was left without lunch breaks or regular breaks because there was no one available to cover. This went on despite management knowing the situation.

I come to work because I genuinely enjoy what I do, not to be disrespected, overworked, or placed in unsafe and unfair conditions. The lack of leadership, accountability, and basic employee support ultimately forced me to walk out.

This job could be a good experience with proper management, but unfortunately that is not what exists here.

Omg, management is horrible in this company. if staffing manager messes up its your fault, if md messes up it’s your fault, everything’s is your fault no matter what it is. You have no job security, you work and work only to be reviewed yearly by someone who doesn’t even know, never met you, and will give you a bad review JUST SO YOU DONT GET A PROPER RAISE. also, in some days when you work alone, don’t expect to  go on a your break, Md expect you to always sit theres and be ready to answersthe phone. You can’t even use the bathroom properly. Management only care about “new patients “ they only want you to bring in new patients and expect them to stay in the company. I guess no one ever mentioned to them happy employees is happy patients. I don’t see this company going far because upper management treat there employees like robots and not humans. Also, management has a way of making things seem as if you just sit on your butt all day long  doing nothing. and it’s all cause they don’t want to raise you, even though you work and work and work. Your co workers are all snakes, they talk about you they curse in front of the patients for copy’s since management is so uptight about collecting money.. it’s horrible working here. Want 10 years off your life? This is the place for you. You

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They over work the nurses. Do not appreciate them or the worry they do. The advertiser perks that are changed with no notice. The tuition reimbursement is a joke. The HR department is incompetent. There’s a lot of favoritism and no way to check it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. Very exhausting. Burn out is prevalent

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Dreading getting the schedule of patients, knowing we’re going to be understaffed. We’re not allowed to turn patients away even if the nurse to patient ratio is UNSAFE. The nurses review the orders and have to make sure they’re correct. There’s no double checking. This should be done my MDs and pharmacist (which we don’t have). A lot of chemo exposure to the young nurses because the company refuses to utilize closed systems. Then a med rep brings lunch that the nurses usually don’t get to eat because it’s difficult to get a break. Dreading the add ons that the doctors bring by because we’re already exhausted and over worked. Then going home and dreading the next day.

I have had the privilege of working at this company for some time now, and I must say that it has been a highly enriching experience. The team dynamic here is exceptional, fostering a sense of camaraderie and a shared passion for our work. In terms of personal growth, I've learned invaluable skills such as time management and the ability to remain composed in high-pressure, emergency situations, which are vital in our line of work. The management team deserves commendation for their approachability and willingness to listen to our concerns while providing guidance on how to proceed effectively. The workplace culture is truly remarkable, thanks to the presence of genuinely nice and amazing individuals who make each day enjoyable. Nevertheless, the most challenging part of our job is when we encounter patients with limited economic resources or lacking family and friends, but it's also the most rewarding aspect as it allows us to make a meaningful difference in their lives. Overall, I feel fortunate to be a part of this team, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to our mission of providing excellent care to those in need.

The entire company is run by money hungry billionaires who don't care for anyone's well being. You're only allowed 5 call outs per year even if you're sick or need surgery doesn't matter on the 6th call out expect a write up. You're held hostage due to the extreme short staffing problems, if you have a family emergency and need to leave no you don't You're stuck in your position until you are able to leave. The PTO is trash they want a minimum of 3 months notice for days off not vacation but single days off and even so they are not guaranteed to say yes. Company cannot keep help the pay is to low for the amount of work expected each day. You will never receive awards or free lunch those are for the higher ups only you will be told to keep your hands off their food until they are all finished and you can pick off the scraps. Medical office staff are only allowed one 30 min unpaid lunch break no 15 min breaks allowed for a 10.5 hour shift 4x a week. When you're alone most times don't expect a break if your office is busy be lucky you can use the bathroom most times.
