I enjoy working for NL and we have a great leadership team. However there are some downsides.

Pros
10 shifts per month, they will approve your vacation and not schedule you on days you request off.  You can be seen in clinic free. Pay is nice. The majority of the staff are team players. Great work life balance when you’re off your off.

Cons
NPS NPS NPS.. every single shifts NPS is discussed and sent to your emails with your monthly scores and sometimes they will send you the complaint and ask for feedback. You’re are expected to see 40-50 patients solo, Urgent Care/Primary Care/Heavy Ortho and Work Comp and every patient needs to give you a 10/10. A lot of demands from patients for antibiotics specifically zpacs and steroids for viral illnesses. If practicing EBM you will have a few that are not happy even though you did what’s best for them and treated with kindness and respect. If you see 50pts and 2 complains your score is 60 and it feels like you are being terminated. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells and pressured to please everyone 

The majority of the staff are kind but some are cut throat and sitting around for the opportunity to report any little tiny thing to get the other in trouble. Alot of pettiness and cattiness. Laugh and play together all shift them talk about each other. So please don’t trust them as they will turn on you in a hot second regardless of how nice you have been 




In the beginning is great, they butter you up with the benefits and the upbeat work environment . As you start noticing the cracks in the company unhappy staff, providers and management that doesn’t care. They pay the staff the same no matter the amount of experience you have. Hiring process is cake show them you have experience or not you are hired. Hardest part of the job is the management, the constant schedule changes and always being under staffed. They have high expectations for number of patients they want you to service but no support staff. The enjoyable part was the few great coworkers I had, but they all start leaving because of the management they have. To top it off forget getting a hold of anyone in HR because they take forever to respond and then when forms are needed to verify your previous employer they care less and not do the job they need to.

They sold me on this company but I soon learned i was sold a lie. Nepotism runs rampant. You’ll find that there are many relatives, friends and loved ones who watch eatchother’s back at various levels of management and HR. This makes true over site and acting in the best interest of the overall company when dealing with problems very difficult from a management or upper management perspective. They’ll tell you everything is ok and then you’ll see heads rolling all around you for the most trivial of reasons. Typical day at work if slow is filled with busy work picking up the slack of other clinics, filling in missed info into spreadsheets or calling patients to collect said missed info. The decent pay wasn’t worth the headache or job insecurity. Scheduling was also very flexible but I hear that’s no longer the case which is a shame because it was one of the best parts of the job especially for working parents. 

The free primary care benefit might seem appealing at first, but calling out sick is often met with disapproval. Your records can be accessed by anyone. Simple requests are dismissed as unreasonable and can even be used as grounds for dismissal.

They don't hire receptionists and expect everyone to cover all areas of the office, even if that means performing tasks outside of your qualifications.

A single negative review or inaccurate complaint can easily result in termination if management decides to side against you. The pay is incredibly low, and job security relies heavily on favoritism regardless of job performance.

The anonymous surveys HR provides are not anonymous. Also, if you don’t party, you’re likely to be treated as an outsider.

Overall, my experience has left me feeling extremely concerned for my privacy.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Do not work here! This company is always hiring and firing people like they are disposable. They are very unorganized, constantly changing procedures and very unprofessional. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They have an extreme lack of communication skills. Any concerns you have will be ignored. They pick and choose who they like regardless of skill and attitude. The management and trainers only favor the people who go out and party with them. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very hostile and unprofessional.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Typical day includes constantly feeling threatened that I will lose my job.

The  NPS score and Google reviews, and pt  volume  have become metrics for evaluation!   it did not used to be this way,  with so much emphasis on patient opinion.  
Anyone who has worked in medicine knows the patient comes to US / YOU for advice/ help-  not to demand what they want.   Or this is how it used to be at next level.
The  focus is HUGE to grow your numbers,  important- yes.   But you also have to have a terrific patient satisfaction score,  and a super short wait time. 
All this after 40%  of the work force was laid off in 2024. 


What is the best part of working at the company?
Perks with Uber once monthly and social events.  The pace wasn’t too difficult 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Primary care and keeping patients satisfied with prime status allowing them to return as much as they want because it’s paid by their insurance for them and their entire family. So you keep seeing the same people over and over with the same problems.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Managers are all about internal reviews so it’s stressful because it’s not google review but a poll on all people seen because they call and request the review and it’s linked to providers 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
20-40 patients, a few DOT, 1-2 laceration repairs, a few ortho, lots of prime, great MAs.

Constantly changing and unclear policies with unattainable standards to reach. The training period is only six days. Evaluations are based on what your coworkers think of you opposed to actual work done. Stress in the clinic depends on your coworkers. The environment punishes good employees to compensate for the lazier employees. There is no performance raises, no lunches. There is no manger present at the clinic. The manager does not look in the EMR or perform an internal investigation before criticizing employees. The turnover rate is high in all position from techs to upper management.

There is really nothing good .  Management is terrible.  They are running company into the ground. Moving up is braised on who you know and who likes you.  Management does not listen to concerns about poor employees.  Company makes providers do telemarketing and other mundane tasks.  Medical assistants have the power to do as they please.  Promises when hires about teamwork and a clinic provider management is false..  now all benefits removed .  A premade schedule is made and inflexible .  There is no enjoyable part of this job. The quality of your work is based upon the tasks given to you not your medical or care provided.

NLUC has been a life changing positive experience for me. Coming from a job that paid by physical check (that sometimes was late) to a stable organization with a full HR and management team really was a game changer. The staff and management are both friendly and supportive. They will make work feel like a fun place to be at since they surround you with wonderful people you can trust and lean on. I strongly recommend this company to anyone looking to make a positive change to other people’s lives while making new friends and memories along their way.
