I truly feel like this company has the right ideas and is going towards the right direction, I left the company and do personally have some regrets but I remember how this job made me feel, and I feel reassured. They will say they don't cold-call but you will be doing cold-calls. People will scream,  cuss, and blow alarms though the phone, and all we can do is walk it off. You get 2, 15 minute breaks that go by far too quick. Anyway that was not my issue it was the fact that their training program although long and needed didn't focus on points where it really mattered. I wished there was more shadowing opportunities, to show you what calls were truly like thoughout the training. There was only I believe 30 minutes of shadowing each scripts. Then put on the calls, then pulled aside just to say 'yeah that sucks just get thicker skin.' They have livestreams to promote their monthly events to get more sales in which the owners talk about the sales team, using passive aggressive comments about them not getting sales saying that the team sucks and using inside jokes that are just kinda uncomfortable comments. It felt like this entire event was first sales, then second to make fun of their workers, it wasn't a good first experience. 

Even with all the bad, my co-workers were extremely nice, kind and wanted to do their best. The trainers worked with the students the best they could, but I feel like it could been organized in keeping the schedule more on track and getting more shadowing experience in. tele-marking for hours was not for me, but I truly believe that the ethics of the company were there, I absolutely loved the positive environment but it felt like they were just trying to cover up the real harassment. Addressing the mental side of the job may be benefitable for everyone. I do hope to return to this company one day, maybe to get more inside looks as I felt true promise. 

I worked at North Star for a month before I was let go. I missed a few days to deal with a family emergency. I came back on a Monday morning and I was let go for attendance and for not being able to make the goal of 4 sales a week.(I had only been on the phones for 2-3 weeks so I was still learning what to do). They also expect you to keep a certain amount of hours on the phone every day, the goal sounds realistic enough until you actually get on the phones. You get hung up on very frequently because of the opening of the script.( it turns people off if they haven’t actually spoken to someone from the company like the script implies) 

 Overall the place wasn’t too bad but it really is just straight up telemarketing. They pressure you to stay on the phone with people for unrealistic amounts of time and keep pushing and pushing even when these people make it clear that they aren’t interested. The work environment was great, really chill environment, I really liked my coworkers and my managers, both of the managers I had were great people. My overall biggest gripe about this job is being forced to talk about death all day on the phone with senior citizens, it felt really cheap to have to use personal experiences to try and make a sale for a bonus. The training was annoying, for about a week and a half we just came to hear them talk nonstop and play kahoot style games. We only went over the script for about 3-4 days of training.But overall it was a pretty OK job. 

Knowing what I know now would I go back in time and apply again? Probably not but it was a good experience.

I have been a licensed insurance sales representative for NorthStar Insurance Advisors over a total of 10 years. That speaks volumes when you take that into consideration.  It’s rare today to see that happen.  I work from home which has been a blessing in disguise.

This opportunity is something that many people are looking for, and I absolutely know I was! I love the fact that we have so many company events and conventions too.  For me to try and describe the company events and conventions is well…unbelievable and unreal!!! Let me just say…you need to come on board and find out for yourself!!!

The training that is offered is what I call perfection.  There are opportunities to learn new things each week; where training is available each, and every day.

The culture at Northstar insurance advisers is nurturing and very supportive. The owners, management, staff, and team members within the company are like my family. We are there for each other and give each other positive feedback and support.

When you think about Ethics within the company a particular guideline is followed which is morally correct. The value that’s given to us helps direct our ambitions/goals, and our priorities in life.

NorthStar Insurance Advisors makes my job/life so much easier, and I am proud to be a part of this organization.

My experience here started off disorganized. Training consisted mostly of classroom time and video modules for the first week. After that, you’re placed on the phones with very little hands-on support or coaching. During my five months with the company, I never received a call review, which made it difficult to know how to improve. Feedback was generally motivational but not actionable.

I also noticed what seemed like inconsistent treatment among employees regarding attendance and policy enforcement. Work-life balance was extremely limited—there wasn’t much flexibility or understanding for personal or family needs. Time off is extremely frowned upon. 

The environment often felt tense and competitive. At times, communication between management and employees created unnecessary stress. Many people left the company during the short time I worked there, which made it feel like there was constant turnover.

The only positive side is I met a great coworker who became a close friend! 

In my 11 years in sales, this was one of, if not the most, unstructured companies I’ve worked for. The pay structure wasn’t competitive, and there was no residual income. Overall, I found it to be a challenging environment with limited growth opportunities and unfit leadership. Would never recommend this place to anyone. 

1/3 of the class quit within the first 2 weeks of training, I was out soon after. When you first come here, it seems like a carnival. Very upbeat environment, loud music playing. However here’s the first red flag I should’ve payed more attention to; if the job sounds great, but the turnover rate is high, RUN AWAY! 
I did not expect the amount of micromanaging that goes on here. From the amount of calls you have to make, the amount of production time you’re actually on the phone with the customer, the amount of leads you transfer, the amount of sales you make (even if you’re not a salesperson). These are just the metrics.
You have your own desk and space that the trainers stalk like a hawk over you. They won’t let you play music at your desk due to “distractions to yourself and others around you” even though the music throughout the building is extremely loud. 
I also can’t believe I was gaslit by the trainers. Apparently if you send a lead over that the salesperson doesn’t sell, that’s YOUR fault, not the salesperson. And if you try to call them out on it, they say you’re not being a “team player.” Yeah, take responsibility for something you didn’t do. 
Absolutely disgusting behavior! As stated in the beginning; if the job sounds great, but the turnover rate is high, there’s always something going on that they're not telling you. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!

A typical day included calling anywhere from 300 to 500, 50 to 79–year-olds, who filled out a survey by accident.. they told us we would be calling warm leads, they weren’t we were cold calling clients with little to no interest in our insurance. Not to mention, everything you do is recorded and listen to as well as logged, which adds to a lot of workplace stress. Northstar is “earn to stay” and although they have a metric system and write ups alongside that system in place, they will fire you the second you stop sending over 10+ leads a day, even though they give you the leads to call, and even with perfect charisma and performance you cannot “make” a client stay on the phone with you. Music is always playing loudly, and it’s a fun environment however the higher ups like to lie to you and never give you anything but training “straight”. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for any sort of long term career. Their turnover rate is 90% within the first 3 months, and they make sure it stays that way. 

Being in Lead Generation definitely has some tough moments that are stressful and can be a lot for one person. The Management team is second to none when it comes to NorthStar they will always be right by your side no matter what as long as you’re willing to learn and be coachable. When I first started here about a month ago everything seemed way to go to be true with all the benefits and how much they give back to their employees and the up beat work environment I have never seen anything like it. This is the only place I have ever worked that they make you feel like you MATTER and appreciated of what you do day in and day out. I’m beyond excited to move onto sales in January and see where my career here at NorthStar takes me. If you’re reading this and thinking about applying STOP THINKING NOW AND PUT THAT APPLICATION IN! you will definitely not regret it!! 

My experience at North Star Insurance Advisors was largely positive. I got along well with my coworkers and have nothing but good things to say about the people in management. Management always went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy and satisfied with their job and in their careers. It was refreshing to see so much genuine care coming from the people I was working for. 
For example, when I needed to completely change my availability at the last minute when one of my kids fell ill, my manager didn’t try to guilt trip me or make me feel like my job was on the line. He sympathized with me and I could tell he genuinely felt sorry for the situation I was in. I don’t know how much of a headache it was for him to accommodate me, but he never made me feel like I wasn’t a valued employee and member of the team. His care and concern during that time were greatly appreciated. 
For that reason and many more I wouldn’t feel right giving North Star Insurance Advisors any less than 5 stars, even though I’m no longer with the company.

I’ve been with the company for years now and let me just say that there’s honestly no better place to work! The list of things that are great about this place is endless, but I’ll try to touch on at least the most important ones here. But just know that you won’t even be scratching the surface of why we all love working here so much until you start working here yourself. The following is just MY personal list of the best things about working for North Star:

1. They actually pay their employees what we’re worth right off the bat.
2. Every company decision is based on the CEO’s strong ethical values.
3. Everyone on my team is a joy to work with.
4. There’s a very strong emphasis on work/life balance.
5. There are plenty of opportunities to move up and get promoted.
6. Hard work is openly recognized and rewarded.

No company is perfect and North Star is no exception. That being said, it gets about as close to perfection as any work environment I’ve experienced in my life. So, there’s that to consider.

Studying full time at university while working as a telemarketer seemed like the most difficult situation I could have put myself in. However, with the support of my manager and coworkers, I was able to support myself through college and gain experience in sales that I already know is going to be invaluable in my future career. I'm very grateful to have been able to work from home, since that made it that much easier to study on my free time and sell during periods where I felt the most energetic and people-oriented. I learned necessary time management skills and was able to transfer my organizational skills from school over to a real-world situation that made them feel much more worthwhile. To any future employees who are on here trying to figure out whether or not to apply, my advice is to be pro-active, make a good first impression, take your time to learn the products and treat every potential customer the way you’d want to be treated.
