When I first started it was great!! The culture and the people were the reasons why I was joined but that slowly declined with the firing of the right people and the hiring of the wrong. All of a sudden, the atmosphere changed. They laid off tons and tons of people every quarter around the time of the Board Meeting. New Executives were not transparent nor trustworthy, whereas previously, at least you’d get a trustworthy executive whether they could be completely transparent or not. Goals weren’t clearly defined or met because of leadership and the people who worked tirelessly to overachieve were the ones who paid for it.  It started out great but my end experience was very very poor.

When first hired, I was hired on as a contractor.  I received praises for doing my job efficiently and effectively. I was promised growth potential when they offered a full time position. That is NOT the case. If you do not tuck your tail between your legs and do as the execs want, regardless of legality, then you are considered to be insubordinate. If your are a CRNA or Physician, they will bend over backwards to meet your needs. If you work in corporate, you get looked over. They preach culture and teamwork but they really could care less. Just sit down and close your mouth and you will do fine with the minimal pay and expensive insurance premiums.

When I started everything was great. There's no training or manual about how the company functions or how your role actually fits in the company. Management likes to know your personal life and they have a good ol boys club. I once checked in on a call and heard the executives talking major trash about the EA's. It was very shocking. That's when I knew it was game over. CHRO knows nothing about HR. He listens to the HR director. Make sure your premiums are paid before you go to the doctor. 

Management will throw anyone under the bus, even make up lies, before taking responsibility for anything negative.  Management will not stand behind you about anything.  It's definitely a “good ole boys” club !  The office atmosphere quickly declined with the firing of the right executives and the hiring of the wrong executives.  They lay off tons and tons of people every quarter around the time of the Board Meetings. This is a horrible place to work and the benefits are terrible.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing is good! It’s a good ole’ boys club.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The Management NOT knowing what they are doing.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
TOXIC AND MICROMANAGING!! They tell you one thing and do another.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go in to work and people are just evil and mean!  Management and the CEO ARE A JOKE!

I was a full time CRNA. I NEVER received any of my benefits  (health insurance,  etc). When I called the office to inquire on this, I was met with nasty, hostile office staff. Never did get insurance. You never knew what time your shift would end, but it was always past your scheduled finish time. Good luck getting a lunch or even a bathroom break all day.  Plus you had to do your own turnovers and stock your room before you left. Just awful.

Management is lacking leadership skills, benefit package is very bad, 401k was promised one rate and ended up being much lower. Corporate is never involved with operation of practice and they are not concerned with CRNA concerns. MDA's are leaving group and locums to replace them, very bad management, no breaks and very short staffed. I would never recommend this organization.

I enjoyed the flexibility of my work schedule when working for NorthStar. I was able to be assigned to one facility near my home which was great. Unfortunately, the contract was dissolved between NorthStar and this facility so I was no longer able to work for them.

NSA has 11 C-Suite officers some of whom are doctors and others are not. Doctors are not business people so there is constant conflict within.  This puts employees in an impossible position of whose directives they are to follow when conflicting direction is issued from the higher-ups. And the employee is the one who suffers. It is a no-win situation.

I’ve worked at this company since 2013. It’s been an overall great experience. They have always pushed for for autonomy and excellence. They brought in a regional block course to help get up to speed. Work in a very collaborative environment as partners with MD’s.
