What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part was the staff. Very team work oriented. Management was very approachability and jumped in when needed. Made sure we had everything we needed to ensure a fabulous dining experience for the residents.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being able to get a last minute specialty meal or late meal to the resident  while plating was in motion. But even that wasn't really stressful. Mainly because we knew which residents were likely to be late or had a habit of switching their meal order last minute. So we always had a back up option ready to prepare for them.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
At this property. It was a home type environment. We understood this was our residents home, so we made every effort to make them feel at home.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
As a closing cook I usually worked alone in the kitchen...my day started at the end of lunch service.  Met with kitchen director for pass off and to inform or be informed of any issues or resident needs or wants. I helped clean up from lunch service, checked my resident's meal specials, prepared dinner, worked with care givers to get a room tray list together, played dinner meals, washed those dishes from that meal, cleaned kitchen mop floors, emptied trash. Ya know, kitchen stuff....kept up with temp logs.

When I first started working here in 2019, the culture and the leadership were 10/10. Now they only care about the money and how to make more of it. The management team used to talk with us, and want to know about us. Now, they're always on calls and their doors stay closed. If I need something, I feel bad asking because they can't leave their mandatory calls.  The turnover rate is really high but its because no staff get the chance to make connections with anyone. They get a few days of training and then it's "figure it out or get written up". I have seen some really great care staff leave because what they are advertising as their work environment, very clearly, is not the truth. I have friends that have worked with the company at different properties and have had the same experiences. Nobody feels appreciated and everyone is underpaid. It's a really sad situation. In 2019, we saw the owner several times come to our community and he was great. He truly believed in changing senior living and making it better for everyone. I heard he has since retired, but I wish he would come back so the culture could get back to where it was.

When I started this job it seemed like a decent place to work. Over time it started to become a place a hating being. The place is run by completely incompetent managers. There is little to no appreciation for the hard work that the care staff provide. You get picked apart for every little thing you do/don’t do. The pay is absolutely terrible compared to the amount of work that is expected. You do the work of 4 people for the salary of 1. Very unrealistic expectations and rules are placed on employees. They want you to be in multiple places at once, which is clearly impossible. They give out “heart to heart” talks but in all reality it’s just you being written up. You’re not allowed to show or express discontentment without fear of repercussions. This organization truly does not value you as a person, the see you as a body to fill a position. You’re also expected to take verbal/physical abuse from residents without any kind of intervention. If you value your happiness and care about your mental health, do not get a job at this establishment. 

My experience with Oaks Senior Living was many things, VERY few of them good. The only good thing about the company and daily work is being with families and residents. Oaks does NOT care about the quality of life for the people that live there, they do NOT care about the care partners and staff, any "management" is unprofessional, inconsistent and unsupportive, and there is a revolving door of staff and leadership. There is consistent understaffing and there is very little attention to care regulations, so the people that live there are neglected. Across the board, every location is full of drama that the leadership does absolutely nothing to fix, and they feed into it. There are no paid holidays for hourly staff, they will REVOKE your pay/bonuses at their own discretion, unkept promises of raises and support, only eligible for PTO after 90 days, and zero communication on benefits enrollment. The only thing I learned from this job is how not to be treated in a workplace.

The Job its self is rewarding with GREAT residents, however Oaks at Dalton was recently bought by the Oaks company and DOES NOT run the way the others do . You will never have a work life balance as everything falls onto the Wellness Director for covering shifts on the floor when agency can't be obtained. Upon hire you will not be told this. You will be told on - call 24/7 for phone calls and to cover licensed positions but that is just not how it goes at Oaks of Dalton. I believe with a GREAT deal of change this could be a wonderful work environment but some MAJOR changes must happen for that to take place.  Also with that on call you must keep in mind you are NOT compensated for any extra you work, you are supposed to take days off to make up for it but you are NEVER truly off in this position.  Perfect for someone with no family, NO CHILDREN, and no life. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at the company were the inter-personal connections with the geriatrics. Also under certain Executive directors and business managers, memory and assisted living nurses, staff morale is interesting.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Miss management of certain things. Stressful situation of under staffing. Quality for some residents was deteriorating. Communication between staff and management change.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?

Equal opportunity for some male staffs members. Pay rate questionable. The culture for the company is healthcare.  Work environment is work . It can be peaceful or can be toxic. Pendulum is in the middle.

Typical day is to serve the residents needs.

I love what I do but there are days that I hate coming here.  The management could care less what care partners go through.  Too much drama on this job.

The ED who I worked under is no longer there, which is a huge plus for the community. The Regional Sales Director was amazing, but wasn’t able to do anything about the ED before I was pushed out. In a position like this it requires the whole team to work together to make all of the special events and community meetings happen. When you do not have that support and actually have your ED working against you, it is impossible to do your job. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working with residents who actually need people in their lives who care and want to be there.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Always under staffed & not having the authority to get temps when the business requires it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Selfishness & they always want to save money and cut corners, thus having the residents to suffer and always complain.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working solo & doing everybody else’s job for the same regular wage. Most of the staff are always coming to work high. Just unprofessional.

Working here would have been a great opportunity if they had two nurses. RCC impersonated a nurse and acted as a nurse causing many issues. They say you are salary but youre not. They make you a hourly employee if you miss a day. You lose your PTO if you dont use it by your anniversary date. The turn over rate is really high.  Youre doing extra work that intervenes in your personal life. Youre never off. HR is not for you either. Things that you discuss in private gets repeated and the entire staff will know your business. This job has been very bad. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS JOB OR FACILITY TO ANYONE!!!! Your license will be at risk everyday!!! This why i resigned immediately!!!
