A typical day at work; you clock in boot up your system count your petty cash pull out the stamps for the drs you are working with on that day then you do you check in process with the patient go over their information and review their chart real quick by checking the id you have on file and the ins card make sure everything we have in our system is up to date. Then once they have been seen you look over the encounter see if they need a follow up if not you collect their copay make small talk make sure their visit was to their satisfactory or if they weren't happy you could suggest a second opinion with another dr within the practice. Just always have a smile and a positive attitude. Once they have paid and left you then stay in their account and bill out the visit and what ever other services were done during their visit, shots, xrays, casting etc. 
Management could've been run a little bit differently from my perspective.
Co-Workers were great we all got along pretty well for the most part.
Hardest part of the job, if anything would be a billing issue or sometimes difficult patients and trying to figure out a way to help them where they would be satisfied.
Most enjoyable part of the job was the job itself i felt like i was always learning something new whether or not it be something small or something big.

OrthoNY is a good place to work. If you are a good employee they'll be good to you. As with any job if you come with a positive attitude and a willing to do what is needed to be done within the purview of your role you'll move up and succeed. 

The management is very helpful as long as you are responsible for your actions and ask for help when you need it. You will be held accountable for your mistakes and there is an expectation for a high level of professionalism, particularly on the front end as we are the first face patients see when they enter the office. 
There is flexibility in work hours when needed. You only get 2 personal days off in your first 6 months of employment but if you have any appointments you need to leave early for or come late to work for this has always been available. The front end manager understands life outside work and will always do best to accommodate. 
There is plenty of room for advancement and growth. I worked here for a short time before I was asked to apply for a promotion and went on to get it. 

The 3 stars for compensation/benefits is because the benefits package is fair, and well within the scope of benefits offered at other jobs I've had. The compensation is not extremely competitive and is based on experience/education. There is ample opportunity for overtime which always gives a bump.

If you need supportive training that strives to help you succeed then DO NOT apply here for any position. The PCC manager did nothing to help me succeed instead I feel she sabotaged me by bouncing me around between coworkers during my training period.  There is no formalized training for this position and you are expected to "observe" and learn the job.  Also less than 2 weeks to train for this complex position is a set up for failure.  Their failure to adhere to their employee handbook policies is another reason:
They do provide corrective coaching
Their policy for verbal and written violations is not followed
Their "training period" of 180 days is not followed
If they determine you are not worth the time to coach for mistakes, they just call you in one day and say; "you are fired for poor performance".  

You cannot succeed there even if you put forth the effort, put in overtime and the surgeon is satisfied with you.  It does not matter.  A VERY POOR PLACE TO WORK.

A lot of talent with quick turn overs. Management is unqualified and have only an x-ray license or no license at all. A lot of drama in the workplace, mostly caused by the two women that run the office. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. From the outside in, looks great. Once you're in there's no looking out. The stress is too much due to disorganization, lack of communication, and limitations for growth. If I had any advice for them it'd be to rotate management through locations to work cohesively and not have entitlement toward a specific office and to not be condescending toward their staff. Benefits are horrible. $10 a payment period for a high deductible health insurance plan and dental that no dentist accept. Time-off is accrued on a monthly basis. It's not really time off because this company will haunt you while on the best vacation.

I kept hearing the full time staff say the workload kept getting worse and worse each week/month.  I know one employee who had worked there 3 yrs only got a 70 cent raise.  Everyone I worked with in my department hated the job.  The office manager was odd and wouldn't talk to you when she passed by and an employee told me that once I was hired she wouldn't need to talk to me again.  Job was boring.  The company had broken equipment but the doctors who own the company want all money in their pockets.  Two employees worked there since the company's inception (20 yrs) and for their retirement it was 'pot luck'...so insulting.  Insurance plan was bad.  They gave a video training session on first day that certain behaviors wouldn't be tolerated and then I learned that the doctors demonstrate there behaviors regularly (like throwing things) and when I remarked on what was said on the video everyone laughed.

The first review of this company is spot on accurate. They will bounce you around to different employees and expect you to observe and learn from observation. There is no formal training for this position and that in and of it’s self is a set up for failure. Some of the staff members there are snooty and won’t even say good morning to you unless you say it first. What a way to make a new person feel welcomed. The company needs to revamp their training processes for this position and until they do they will have a hard time trying to retain anyone because this position is very complex. If they want new nurses to excel at this position they need to keep them with the same person for at least two weeks so they can, one observe, than on week 2 do some of the work with a side by companion to help to ensure appropriate training and understanding.

Management doesn't handle important issues. Doctors' schedules are completely overloaded. Most physicians are incredibly rude towards their staff and it is borderline abusive. Overtime hours are an every day thing and you will never know when you will actually get out of work each day. Patients are mostly out of line and arrogant and company does back you in anything if patients are unruly and mistreating you. They do not value the work their employees do for them. Breaks are hard to take due to long lines and it is frowned upon to take them. Even patients recognize this. I do not recommend wasting your time and sanity at this company.

The manager and supervisor check on you almost everyday. The manager is always available to listen to your concerns and addresses them to the best of their ability. Heavy patient work load so if you are not organized or have an efficient work flow you may not thrive here. The hardest part about working here is that a lot of the processes are very antiquated. The most enjoyable part of working in OrthoNY Schenectady is great management and friendly coworkers.

There is an incredible amount of drama at Ortho NY. You are constantly told things told that issues you bring up are not your concern and you are forced to work with people who have numerous HR complaints against them making for an extremely hostile toxic work environment. It feels like between management and the favorite management protects, you are constantly walking on egg shells with that company. There are no monetary compensation for some departments, whereas others receive numerous monetary compensations.  Overall toxic place to work. 

Just about Everything discussed in my interview that I would be able to do was taken from me 2wks after hire and management/supervisors could tell me themselves I had to hear it from others. They don't give a damb at all when it comes to your children and family emergency's. For me the pay was good but not for the kind of demands they expect from their employees. People were working waiting for covid results so I Always felt at risk. Doctors are spoiled and need to NOT be so hard on their staff. Management was a joke, stick to X-Rays! Too many chiefs not enough Indians!!
