If you have ever watched the office you will already have a good understanding of PTCs culture and environment. The leaders in this company are caricatures of every stereotypical bad leader you have ever come across. The “we are a family” and “this is a great place to work” brigade in HR is in full flow. The worst thing about this is that a lot of passionate and dedicated employees who genuinely care about making life changing medicine buy into it and when they are laid off with disregard it stings that bit more. You have a lot of leaders who are obsessed with the fancy job title, status and big bonuses. This creates a big problem when they don’t want to rock the boat and face up to admitting shortcomings and the harsh reality of how dysfunctional the company really is. They can’t run a meeting never mind a team, a budget and a strategy. Most of what comes from HR is vacuous tripe and their programs lack any real depth or critical thinking. But the most important thing is that everyone keeps their big job title and status, even if the company can’t bring key treatments to market let’s get rid of the ordinary worker and whatever you do do not take any accountability or responsibility as a leadership team. They are two faced and disingenuous about most things, it seems to be prerequisite to being a leader here.

The people that work for PTC are all driven and generally work together well with others in their own departments/ in between departments. Due to the company growing really fast, there is a lack of solid management in many of the departments, with many of the managers/ higher ups not being able to manage tasks smoothly for the teams and generally being newer that those that are below them. As stated by others, it is really hard to move up and get promoted, even if you are currently doing a lot more than the position you were hired to do had. Even when you have more experience and have improved results, the company tends to hire people that look good on paper but have no clue what to do in the labs. A lot of good quality people have left to other companies because of this. With those negatives aside, overall PTC is a great company to work for when looking at the research and innovation being done in rare diseases. The CEO is such a great and amazing person along with many others that I work with, just wish they would hire better/ more people in the HR department so that they could hire more quality workers and increase the ability of everyone moving up from within.

Frat like environment, they unprofessional with no real direction planning or process

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being harassed and insulted in front of coworkers, Constant indecision by management, and a general lack of purpose and direction overall in the company

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very toxic, boys club, people were disposable, information was kept secret. Management made bad decisions and wasted vast amounts of resources doing so. Expect to be hazed what is called humor

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Continuous talk and direction changes in projects. Some days many fire drills other days ghosted. Leadership hired experts, but thought they knew better now they’ve cut after their workforce

A close knit group of sociable people. I learned to bookmark and hyperlink clinical reports having used Adobe, eCTD express and ISI toolbox. Formatting electronic files for preparation of regulatory submissions to create compliant regulatory submissions. I was also responsible of Managing documents and workflows within the EDMS (Electronic Document Management System). Management was great, very understanding and thorough with the everyday activities. Everybody there works with pride and carry that PTC chip on their shoulder. Hardest part of the job was leaving that job, since my assignment there was done. Most enjoyable part was being part of the PTC family, where they would all get together and play instruments and Ping Pong which I loved!!

The lack of management understanding what was required to make the site operational

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment was fair. Culture was driven by management with lack of experience which was a challenge.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very fast paced and need to put out fires

Great to be part of an organization that is passionate about purpose delivering transformative therapies for people living with rare diseases! 

One of my personal highlights is that mentoring is ingrained in our culture, and our environment fosters personal and professional development. I am very grateful for my own experiences with mentorship that I have received at PTC. Love all the opportunities we have to learn, grow and develop in areas we choose.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I would not work here.  Horrible.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of security.  Bad pay. Stay away.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Non-existent.  There is no culture.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sad.  Very unfulfilled.  Pretty poor.

Used to be a great company to work for . Daily activities include leading meetings, vendor management, documents review. Learned more about rare deceases, oncology and gene therapy. The hardest part was dealing with layoffs. The most enjoyable parts were good team members and great compensation.

Poor communication from leadership.
Badly managed. 2 rounds of layoffs last year. 
Previous CEO disappeared without a trace after over 20 years. Not even a  goodbye. 
Leaders tell lies constantly. Don’t believe anything you hear from this company. Concerns from employees ignored by leadership. 

It was a great company to get some much needed experience. They don't tend to promote from within so opportunities are limited. Leadership is siloed so some divisions get more opportunities than others and there is little communication between departments.
