I honestly went into working for Pure Talk not expecting it to be more than work to make end's meet while I focused on getting positions more relevant to my career. I got the technical support agent role through a recruiter, and was hired after one phone interview and then started training 2 weeks later.

While Pure Talk may seem like an inoffensive, standard call center job, the company on both the worker and consumer ends seem content to meet the bare minimum. The job itself isn't particularly hard, since you're just handling calls and troubleshooting customers' phones w/ software on the backend, but the actual challenge is just navigating the alienating and unforgiving management while working a frankly burdensome schedule.

While there are some remote work options left (at the time I'm writing this), the work in general involves you being constantly surveilled whether you're even on a call currently. When you're not on a call being watched to make sure you don't slip up on reciting any of their customer service scripts to the letter (and penalized for most deviations from the scripts), or submitting documentation from said calls, you're expected to only sit there and wait for the next one. Not having your phone out all day makes sense, but you've basically got nothing to do to pass the time outside of handling the few calls you get in a day, and reprimanded for daring to try entertaining yourself while at your desk. You get 2 paid breaks, sure, but when most of the job is waiting, it's silly to expect people to sit around on standby like they're machines.

This is for 6 days out of the week, so, assuming you get a 9 to 5 shift (if one's even available; you basically have to bid for it or hope someone who has one you want leaves), you've got little time after work to handle errands or just live your life before you have to go back. That, and the fact that even asking for time off to handle other obligations (like I did) is met with two-faced supervisors and management -- who *may* grant your request, but then chastise you afterwards as if you no-call, no-showed.  Doesn't matter if you confirmed with a supervisor, doesn't matter if you're sick, or have an appointment, not being at a desk all shift is a crime to management.

The work culture there is pretty basic for call centers, so everyone wants to chat just to stave off boredom in-between calls. I can take it or leave it since I'm introverted. The real problem is the unspoken rule of how much you have to suck up to your boss to get shown any grace. Don't expect to just let your performance speak for how good an employee you are, you have to get on the supervisors and manager's good side, and if you don't, then don't expect to last there.

Overall, you should probably avoid this company, as there's a million call center jobs just like it that are probably even slightly better -- if you really like doing this kind of work for some reason. If you need *any* job at the moment, then keep looking. 

When I first was hired with Pure Talk, I was extremely excited. I really gained alot of calling center experience and my manager, at that time when I was hired, was very understanding and taught me everything I know. However, when management was changed last year, there was a complete 360 degree change. In order for you to move up in the company, you really have to suck up to the management. I was a hard worker for about 2 years, never called out, was always willing to work overtime, I knew all the departments including customer service, porting and technical support and I feel I was robbed by management. I started as a customer service representative then I was moved to technical support then I was moved up as team lead which I gained more experience there. A whole misunderstanding and supposedly lack of communication at last minute I was terminated with no reason. Even the unemployment office said that was not a reason enough for me to be terminated since I never received a warning. However we are in Georgia and in this state, it is an at-will state. Meaning that they don't have to provide you any reason to terminate you. Apparently my new manager and supervisor did not like me. I gained a lot of experience and thank goodness I have a wonderful job and I was able to move on to a better career however PTUSA HAS BEEN the worst stressful, unorganized, miscommunicated place to work for. However I did learn something about the job. I learned how NOT to treat the employees and how NOT to talk to employees...I filed a complaint to the CEO and wrote a letter and nothing was done. Just to let you know take your own risk...

Overall
My experience working at Pure Talk USA, the upper management was horrible and very unorganized. The training says it is for 2 weeks but they don't tell you that they expect you to learn everything and have it down by the end of the first week and then they move you on to live calls for the second week. They also promise rotating shifts so that you will have a work/life balance but really it isn't much of a balance at all. I will also bring up the fact of the "scare tactic" the managers/supervisors used while you were training to be sent home with your laptop; their favorite thing was to say "Don't make us hunt you down to find out why you aren't taking calls", personally I don't think that was very professional. On the topic of customer's, let's just say they were some of the most greedy, rude, ignorant, nasty, and incompetent customers I have ever dealt with. That being said, alot of the customer's frustrations were caused by the company/management not making things clear enough to their customers, so some of the instances I had dealt with angry callers, I understood where they were coming from. So to finish out my review for this job, my suggestion is that you run as fast as you can in the opposite direction if you don't want a work life filled with stress.

In the beginning the job seems easy and it really is. Honestly, the hours were just not good. You work from 9am-6pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch and 2 paid 10 minutes breaks. It all sounds good until you realize that you can’t do anything during the time of Mon-Sat. The customers of PureTalk and Lifewireless are the rudest that you will ever experience. If you look up the customer reviews they say a lot of negative things but in all honesty yes there are some CSR’s that don’t do their job and other times there are the good reps that try to help out but the customers cuss and yell and are the worst types of people simply because they feel entitled, want a better “free phone” and just simply have no manners. It’s not organized either. Too much misinformation that really needs to be dealt with so there aren’t any angry customers and representatives.It’s a stressful job and you deal with rude and sometimes perverted customers. The overall atmosphere at the workplace is super outgoing to say in a negative way.If you’re an introvert, do not work there. It will be uncomfortable. There are better jobs out there.

I have witnessed firsthand leads huddling together to gossip how multiple representatives are needing assistance on live calls and it is quote "getting annoying". Leads/Supervisors have also gossiped in the office about specific representatives currently working for the company and share their personal opinions about them out loud in front of other employees. Supervisors also use derogatory terms and use foul names when referencing other employees. You are giving non-applicable training that is not consistent or well planned out. You may be on a Zoom call with your training class and waiting up to 45 minutes just for a lead to figure out what they are doing. Leads/Supervisors are very unprofessional and do not follow pandemic safety guidelines. It is impossible to get assistance when needed or clear instructions on job procedures. You will be informed before you were hired and possibly during your training that Saturdays are rotating however you may be scheduled every Saturday.  Management is very terrible and if you ask too many questions in a chat that is used by each department you will be scolded.

honestly i don’t even do reviews but this company is outrageous if you are a busy person and like to work from home and can deal with disrespect then here is the job for you because customer will curse you out call you all types of name and it’s okay the employees like managers don’t care about you unless you can do your job the system that’s is used to take call is absolute trash it’s always crashing dropping calls it never works when i used to have issues nobody would help me they would just tell me to clock out and that’s means i was missing money and one day i got fired 30 minutes before clocking in and the reason was i don’t take enough calls but mind you i take 25-40 calls a day this company is some garbage and they treat you like an robot it’s just a waste of time you have to report every little thing from if you have to take care of your child or if you going to the bathroom it’s crazy 

I walk in to Sears and start the process of opening. I set up my table within the store and make sure the table is extremely presentable and approachable to potential customers. I spend my day approaching and talking to strangers about the products and plans we offer. I usually deal with returning customers who are having technical difficulties and just need a typical understanding of using a phone. I have encountered many questions and try to stay well informed of my product on a daily basis. Then when I make sales I activate the phones for the customer and handle their personal information. I keep everything confidential and memorize nothing the customers give me. I try to stay upbeat and make jokes so as to keep the customers entertained. Then when its time to close I do so and take care of the appropriate tasks.

This job is overall easy once you get the hang of it. Of course, things often change as most call centers do have guidelines, we go by The FCC. Management is great in the customer service department, in my experience. They are extremely understanding as long as you communicate professionally.  Please do not expect to not have to work here, as you are monitored to ensure the company has good and successful employees. There are so many resources to help as well as management and supervisors. I'd say the only flaw here is the other agents are sneaky and rude when they feel like they aren't getting the same recognition. These same employees complain about the work they have to do. So I would say just let it be and keep doing your own thing. 

Training is horrible. You have a GETTO trainer who have no business training anyone. Un-educated young lady who talks about her personal life with the  young people in the class.. instead of training. And I can't believe owner of this company don't realize why they have such a large turn over. Every few days they are hiring.  Then they have this so call Manager you would not believe she overseas the Call center.  Can't believe they don't know it's who they have training the class. Employer's I work for you had to have a degree to manage also a degree to train. Pure talk put anyone in those positions no wonder they can't keep employees. If they hire the right leadership this might be a great company to work for.

This was a job that gave great pay especially when working from home. You got one day out of the week to work on a weekend and had a weekday off which comes in handy when you need to run errands that can only be done during the week. One of the only cons I have about working here is the communication between departments is not there. You can think you’re doing something right but you’re actually doing it wrong because one department or someone else in the same department tells you to do something a certain way, but it’s supposed to be done differently, according to a different employee. It cause a lot of discrepancies. All I was working there ended up getting written up more than once because of this miscommunication.
