My first couple of years at Paramount were great. I truly enjoyed being part of the team I worked with in the building. For the most part, everyone worked well together and we got through some really rough times during the pandemic together as a team. For a long time, I honestly thought I’d never leave Paramount. They came off as a smaller, cozy community that had it all together. Unfortunately, that was not the case the last year or so of my employment. 

I spent a total of three and half years working for Paramount. The last 8-12 months were unlike the rest of my time there. It was like falling, attempting to get back up, and being pushed down again, over and over….

What ultimately led me to resign is when I (& others, as well) was told by a corporate employee via email, on a Sunday afternoon, that I could “enjoy my family and my weekends when we are fully staffed” (because no one had reached out to an applicant within 5 minutes). It was a tyrannizing comment to make, and in that moment I realized there was no work/life balance with Paramount anymore. Additionally, I was expected to use my personal devices, and data, with no additional compensation, as neither a phone nor laptop was provided during my employment. 

Fairness across the board is not a realistic expectation here. I have watched several employees get rehired after becoming ineligible for rehire, new hires coming in at a higher wage than employees who have been there for years, & some the best workers get taken advantage of… What is ok for some, is not ok for others. The same is true for anyone currently employed - sometimes they’ll turn a blind eye, other times they’ll present a write-up or termination. Corporate employees often contradicted one another leading to actions in the building being that much more difficult. I strongly do not believe everyone at the corporate office is on the same page. 

One of the most frustrating parts of working at Paramount was implementing the asinine rules corporate had for residents. Such as, where they can and can not sit around the building, what they can hang on their doors, how they can decorate, etc. (Mind you, this is an Assisted Living Facility.) Several comments are frequently made from residents, but I will never forget the sadness from a residents voice when he told me he felt like he was “in prison”.

The E.D. always had fantastic ideas for the building, in my opinion. Cosmetic improvements, activity items for residents, staffing changes… Unfortunately, the same couple of corporate employees usually had a problem with everything so positive changes were seldom made. His ideas could have turned the community around. Corporate will often elect the cheapest way possible to make improvements, which was not always an effective solution. 

Lastly, if you are looking for a long-term, rewarding career, I sadly do not believe this company is it. At least not with the way things have been and currently are. 

The residents were obviously lovely and sweet, but there are a lot of residents and many require full care. Even on days when we were fully staffed you are constantly moving. There were hardly ever any days when we were full staffed though. Sometimes I didn't bother to take my 30 minute break because I felt that I didn't have enough time in my shift to provide all the residents with all the care they needed, so there were small corners that had to be cut on some days. 

Some nurses also did not take my concerns on residents seriously.  I would have to tell multiple nurses over the week my concern before I saw anyone do anything about it. 

There is drama between employees and although it is easy to stay out of it and make friends, it was hard to work in a place where employees hate their jobs and each other. 

The management is the main reason that I left. They did not have flexibility with my schedule and wouldn't let me work morning shifts or even have a variety of morning and afternoon shifts because they said that it was not what they hired me for, yet I do not recall discussing that during the hiring process. Management was condescending and manipulative, so I did not feel comfortable talking to them.  A few of the office workers were lovely and nice though. 

Although it was a lot of hard work, the work felt rewarding because I knew that I was helping these sweet elderly people. I just did not want to deal with all the other problems with management and workers.

I was hired as the Activities Manager and fired after only two weeks, not because I did anything wrong, but because they had completely unrealistic expectations. I was told that my only job should be to spend all day talking to residents, as if I were a greeter, not a manager.

In reality, I was doing what an Activities Manager is supposed to do: organizing the office, completing assessments, planning programs, contacting entertainers, tracking birthdays, and making sure the department actually ran smoothly. Instead of appreciating that, management criticized me for not being in the common areas every minute of the day.

To make matters worse, I later learned that there have been two Activities Directors who quit within just the past few months because of the same management issues. That alone speaks volumes about the environment and how staff are treated.

There was no clear direction, no training, and no appreciation for the behind-the-scenes work that makes resident engagement possible. The workplace felt disorganized and micromanaged, and decisions were made impulsively and unfairly.

If you’re a professional who takes your work seriously and expects to be treated with respect, I strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Working for this home health and hospice company has been an incredibly meaningful and rewarding experience. The organization truly prioritizes compassionate, patient-centered care, ensuring that every individual and family is treated with dignity, respect, and empathy during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.

What stands out most is the dedication of the team. From nurses and aides to administrative staff, everyone works collaboratively with a shared commitment to excellence. The leadership fosters a supportive environment where employees feel valued, heard, and empowered to grow both personally and professionally.

The company also goes above and beyond in providing resources, training, and support to ensure staff can deliver the highest quality care. There is a genuine culture of kindness and understanding—not just toward patients, but among colleagues as well.

Being part of an organization that makes such a profound difference in people’s lives every day is something I’m truly proud of. I would highly recommend this company to anyone seeking compassionate care for a loved one or a fulfilling career in home health and hospice.

- the pay is horrible compared to what you can make at other places. 
- if they offer you a sign on bonus or referral bonus just a heads up they will refuse to pay it to you. They will make up excuses and keep pushing it off to a later date. 
- if you’re interested in the med tech program, word of advice, don’t be. Once you’re a 
Med tech they will use you and run you ragged. You will maybe make just one dollar more and will be doing the work of two jobs. 
- management looks down on everyone like they are beneath them. They will ask you how he can improve something then will proceed to speak over you as you try to respond. 
- you can be throwing up sick and in tears & they still will refuse to let you go home. 
- you could literally work doubles all week and on your day off they will still be blowing up your phone to come in. 
- you can’t use pto on weekends (they require you to find your own coverage for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday if you need it off.) 
- if you call off Friday, Saturday, or Sunday they will make you for 2 days of there choice to make it up (even if it’s a medical emergency) 
- I had a family death and they wouldn’t work with me to give me the day off instead they wrote me up. 


Work in the kitchen is very simple. Kitchen aides wash dishes, serve food and clean. Cooks heat up food and cut stuff. The staff when i work there did not work as a team. There were things that were mainly the job of kitchen aides that others could do very simply such as washing rags and taking out the trash. The environment is very unwelcoming. Things are done by management so that people do not quit. Basically, the majority of the kitchen work and undesirabe hours are given to one or two people. Most kitchens require all staff to do all work and share shifts. The kitchen revolves around the people who have been there the longest at the expense of everyone else. The pay is very low and unfair. It seems like they pay you what they feel like. Dont expect to learn anything specific if you are a cook. There is only one cook that trains and she is good but busy. Other nursing homes might expect you to know what certain kitchen tools are used for or how to julieene? Something. Positive praise is almost nonexistant. If you want a paycheck, like downtime and have no desire to learn anything new or improve yourself the kitchen at cranberry paramount senior living is for you.

Residents are the only pleasant part of this job

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management over work you and very disrespect. They want you to live, breath and eat paramount not realizing we have a life and families outside of work. Very poorly managed. The executive Director doesn’t care about the residents he’s only there was a check.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Environment was very Stressful to work in hence the high turn over. The ones that work hard or barely praise or reward it, and the ones that no the bare minimum are glorified.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
1 shift aide complaining about what every other shift doesn’t do meanwhile they are regarding residence of having coffee until the breakfast doors open up at 9am meanwhile upper managers in the office have night shift getting residents up at 4am only to do nothing but fall asleep in the living room without even a television to entertain them. Horrible place to live. I felt so awful for the residents there.

This is the one place I thought would be good to work but NO anyone thinking of working here don’t do it. Management is horrible you can never get a hold of the DON when you need to and he will tell you I will have your back but he don’t . The administrator thinks he has a nursing degree and calls the shots on who to give meds to and not. Resident care is bad when certain staff is working and when you tell some of  RCA to do their job they just play on their phone and roll their eyes.  Not all RCAs are like that when you put in a complaint it gets swept under the rug and never addressed,  the ones who make the most mistakes they will be the ones who get away with everything. Nurses are supposed to be supervisors but they are not.  The nurses are over worked and they don’t care,  the one who does scheduling doesn’t know how to schedule always messing it up. And when you say something to them about the schedule then she gets mad and uses the schedule against you on what you work.  She has nurses and aides working 16 hour shift back to back with 12 hour shifts 

I thought I found my forever job, but I quickly realized I would be pulled into other departments responsibilities, expected to care a huge work load without support, help, tools or communication.  Within 6 months the administrator told me no one on the team liked me and I began to pull together my exit strategy.  My resignation was ignored as I had been for several months. On my last day a manger asked when my last day was and when I explained it was that day they were annoyed no one told them.  I surpassed all of my goals, took on extra work and did it all with a smile. The HR Director is miserable and if you upset her or her assistant you will be targeted and pushed out.  I made a mistake in asking the assistant if she had considered some things in planning an event and she never spoke to me again to the point that she got me in the christmas gift exchange and never acknowledged me because she didn't want me as her person for the exchange.  Management that behaves like high school mean girls.

I love working for Paramount! When I first started working for the company, it only had locations in the Pittsburgh area. Since then Paramount has expanded and has more locations. Even though, this company has expanded into other cities/states - it still feels like a small/wholesome company. I say this because my co-workers/managers are like family! Don't get me wrong, you are expected to work and maintain your responsibilities but if your a good employee - you are treated as such! 
EVERYONE here is always willing to lend a helping hand if needed. Management is flexible with scheduling, as well as the co-workers if needing to switch days. Pay rate is above average, benefits could be better but manageable. I do wish the company offered more assistance with continuing education. Yearly raises with good reviews! Advancement availability. 
Overall, this is a great company to work for! Wouldn't want to work anywhere else honestly.
