This particular job and this particular office is a joke, and considered a dead end career in my opinion. I can not speak for the corporate office which is located in Florida, but I can truthfully acknowledge that their is such little opportunity for growth here that a 16 year old working in fast food is better off. The position is a very easy position, and doesn't require rocket science but the department structure is so wack you would not care. The department is structured in a way that is difficult for an ambitious goal oriented person to highlight any kind of strengths and advanced skill sets. You are are not allowed to take any type of self initiative and make simple decisions that are related to your specific job such as sending a fax, or reaching out to a client who's account you managed or asking for more paper clips.  You must ask before you do any work, and on all work and follow the chain of command. I mean you aren't even allowed the authority to obtain an extra highlighter without out asking first. You spend more time recording your typing that you do working.  The reporting structure consists of Team Lead who then reports to a Supervisor who reports to a Manager. The employee often feels overwhelmingly micromanaged for small and minute tasks in which he/she should be able to perform. You must record your every task on a log every 5 minutes, and I do mean every task, such as walked to the fax machine, called acct rep, emailed acct rep. You spend more time recording your typing that you do working. And to think the job preference is for college degreed professionals.The culture at this office is one of complacency in which many employees stay because they do not aspire to achieve anything greater. The only positives about this job is the bonuses, flexible schedule, benefits are reasonable, they have 100% tuition reimbursement and they provide an awesome service to NICU babies and believe in promoting the advancement of healthcare improvement for babies born pre-term I recommend this job for a college student who is able to handle both work and school, obtain some work experience, take advantage of the flexible scheduling and definitely the 100% tuition reimbursement and then leave. Please career professionals who are already established with experience, do not waste your time.

Repeated incidences of being unable to care for patients due to lack of resources despite timely notification to management of the need for resources. Expected to "problem solve" but not given authority to make decisions on things like basic inventory maintenance, or caring for clients in innovative ways within the scope of my practice. Expected to meet nearly unreasonable quotas yet denied or ignored when requesting opportunities for personal growth. Broken promises: told at time of job offer that work schedules would be put out 2 weeks ahead of time, yet consistently weren't posted until 48 to 72 hours prior to next shift. Expected to make myself available on my off days, cancel prior obligations, if the manager made a scheduling mistake, rather than the manger sucking it up and fixing it herself. Was told at time of job offer there would be quarterly team meetings, and there was only 1 team meeting in the year that I worked there. Was told to submit time off requests at least 2 weeks in advance; I submitted 30+ days in advance (would request 1 day out of the month) and still was generally brushed off. Human Resources is useless because the employee handbook is vague in MANY areas, leaving room for management to interpret the policies in their personal favor. Management showed consistent lack of empathy for select staff, even asked me on my first week while still in training, to cover her favorite subordinate's shift due to that person's personal issues, yet when others have personal issues we are told to figure it out for ourselves. This line of work is a great start for experience, but not the place to stay for a career. In the year I was there, there was turnover of leadership almost every other month--not a good sign.

The best part of this job: working with babies and their families to ensure the babies have a good head start in life. My day may be anywhere between 1 hour and 10 hours long, depending if there was 1 baby or 14 babies to screen that day--your day is done when you finish the last baby. If there is only 1 baby and you finish everything in under 2 hours, you still get paid as if it were a 2 hour day. If you're extremely flexible with your time, and you don't mind being extremely disconnected from corporate, you may enjoy this job.

Horrible management came in_ tried to get her friends in,  went thru numerous screeners...in place of good reputable and  hard working years of service employees. Company allowed this.  Harassment with no back up from prior boss that would not do the right thing and be truthful. Poor HR. New Management could change everything about your employment,  just because she was taking the position. Glad I resigned.
Wrote thr owner and ceo, but they didnt care about their employees.  New management and worker had more complaints in a week than we have in 4 years.  Hipaa violations did not matter to the company and sitting on personal phone talking about other employees and health problems of others, on company time.  Many good soul workers in the hospital  complained about it but Pediatrix swept the problems under rug saying they would retrain.. sometimes things are better on the other side,  even when you don't think you could find something better at the time.  
I'd never want treated that way again.  Loved everyone at the hospital.  All doctors, PAs, nurse manager,  all awesome.  Would still be there if it wasn't for the unfair tactics and harassment.  Found an attorney to take my case but dropped it for my own sake and move on.  Relief.  I never had such a bad experience with a company in my life but I have learned some things just don't matter.  Again, they will give you the days you want... ...for years,  ...then say no when they hire,  and then give your hours away so that their hours are covered.  Didn't matter ...how dedicated you were.  
I think that's all I have to say.  No longer upset over it.  The job was great.  Loved the babies so so so much.  Ne management also was not nice to parents either,  unfortunately,  Pediatrix /Mednax did not care.  Sad. 
Good luck Pediatrix. Many screeners later and stil can't keep them,  all because of one person that was a red flag but eyes were closed to it regardles of email proof text proof, hipaa violation proof....

I guess I still sound salty but I do feel good about it now. I have a freal ove for my fulfilling job of 11 + years and am appreciated every day.

.A typical day with Pediatrix would start at 6:00 am.  I would arrive at 1/3 hospitals in McAllen Tx do rounds before the doctor would arrive and enter all data (weight, feeds, meds, ins/outs, temps) for a NICU patient.  Upon finishing I'd then head to hospital # 2, and #3 to complete the same information.  After all 3 were complete I'd than head to the office.  Check how many new patients were on the census and try to make contact with parents to obtain all demographic information.  If insured I'd than call to the Ins co and get the details.  I'd register all new accounts within a 3 day time frame in order to stay current with goals set forth by the region and company.  After registering new accounts I'd run a set of approx. 8 reports to check on past due accounts, any accounts requesting medical records, or any accounts that are ready to be released to the appropriate payer.  If we had a credentialing packet in the office for one of the 11 doctors I'd get all his/her certs and complete and hand deliver the completed packet after obtaining proper signatures from the doctor. 

I learned that teamwork is very crucial to accomplishing goals and work.  

Management was really not around.  We worked under our own supervision.  The company has roughly 9,000 employees and are very limited with supervisors.  Most contact with upper management was either via phone or email.

The hardest part of the job was as a parent dealing with critical care patients that some times did not make it.

Definitely the most enjoyable part of the job was getting visits from past patients or the discharge of a baby that had been with us for a lengthy time.  You have no choice but to get attached with the ones in house for over a month.  You see them every day, communicate with family members so it brought great joy in seeing a baby leave in a great condition.  Most of our babies were premature anywhere from 23-32 weeks gestation.

*Typical day: clock in; pull baby facesheets to determine which babies require hearing screens; get materials ready to perform screen; scrub in (wash yourself from fingertips to elbows); check the NICU to see if any of those babies require a screen. Then go to patient rooms to do hearing screens. At the end of day, fax paperwork to corporate
*What I learned: how to effectively work independently; how to swaddle a baby; good techniques for calming a fussy baby; I absolutely learned that nurses are very gossipy.
*Management: My supervisor was AWESOME! The ppl that I did speak with in corporate were nice & helpful
*Hardest part of job: Fussy babies are beyond annoying b/c you NEED them to be quiet & still to perform hearing screen; dealing with nurses can suck sometimes (and even doctors); casual part-time is way diff. than regular part-time - so you have to prepare to have a different day to work each week; hours can be as low as 2 hours on one day and 5 hrs another day, and 7hrs on another day; having to travel to multiple hospitals all around town; co-workers asking you to cover their shift waaay to often; having to always have your cell phone on & near you (that is our method of contact...a bit unprofessional); BEING ON-CALL; waiting around to screen some babies
Most Enjoyable part of job: the short hours can be a con to some - I considered it a pro b/c we had no set "off time", meaning that if you're done screening for the day, you can clock out and leave; having complete independence once you arrive at your assigned site; merit pay raises; bonuses; talking to the parents (the, hands-down, very best part of the job); having fun with the few nurses who aren't addicted to drama; I thought the pay was pretty good; on-the-job training (which is very rare in healthcare these days); company reimbursements

Working for Mednax was a fairly positive experience for me. The hiring process took between 2-3 months so prepare yourself for that. There is a lot to learn, but once you learn it through your training you will be fine. I had this job while I was working another full-time job which worked great for me. However, this is not a job that you can have alone & fully support yourself /cover all your bills. 
A normal day consisted of me getting paper work together for the newborn hearing screens that I needed to perform, then performing the screens/explaining the process to the mother/patient, and finally faxing/charting/entering all of the results in the computer system at the end of my shift. 
The great thing about this job is that you can work at your own pace. You don’t have a manager or anyone watching you while you work & it’s fairly repetitive so your job duties will rarely change. The worst thing about this job is how unpredictable it is. Since your position depends on how many newborns are born a day, there are some days will you will only have 5 newborns to screen while there are other days where you might have 15. (1 screen usually takes 15-45minutes). This can be bad if you are trying to get a certain amount of hours for the week. Also, when there are a lot of babies to screen, it can be VERY exhasting (you will be on your feet all day) and time consuming, but you are expected to complete them all no matter what. Because of this, you never know in advance when your shift will end. It all depends on how many screens are needed to be completed for the day. 
So overall, this is a good part-time job especially if you are looking to gain more hospital experience, just be aware of the unpredictable days.

I wouldn't recommend this dump to my worst enemy... I would rather live in a cardboard box and eat dog food for the rest of my natural life than work for this disgusting company...

Management ostracizes, threatens, and demeans all the employees. The facilities are mismanaged and micromanaged. If you are a good little "robot", then there is no issue. But the majority are not and many are treated similarly. They have high turnover and a terrible image... Emails are sent out threatening verbals and writeups for making mistakes... 

I started with Mednax in August of 2018 and had such high hopes of building my career with them. Over time, I questioned whether I made the right decision. Since the beginning, No rapport was ever developed between the manager  and me. She ostracized me and professional threatened me frequently. I was called into the managers office in a degrading manner more times that I can count and was told everything that I did wrong. I was never complimented nor valued as an employee. (Previous to this, I was never in a managers office with the exception of good work reviews and raises.)

The option to work remotely is available after some time.. I submitted my request to  update the applications so that I could work remotely. I had to submit my request several times with no professional response from the so called idiot manager.  She never explained the policy and that I could work remotely after I signed it… Finally, I had to go to HR with nonretaliation to force the manager to update my Citrix applications… This was very appalling and felt like she just did not want to work with me at all. 

In conclusion... I have nothing but solid disdain for this company and find them even worse than a monopoly like UNC Healthcare...

It is my professional advise DO NOT GO THERE...

I have loved every moment of this job.  It is so deeply rewarding, and one of the very few truly entry level jobs (no prior license or cert required) for anyone trying to get into healthcare. Most of my coworkers have been middle-aged mothers or fellow college students, and the scheduling is the most flexible and reasonable process I've ever had at any job. 
Be warned that it is an extremely independent role, with a supervisor who is rarely (if ever) on site. My own management team are all remote, which has been admittedly my single source of aggravation and dissatisfaction with the company. In my time here, there has been absolutely no consequences for behavior that would otherwise result in termination at every other job (no call no show, leaving excessive work for others, etc), and there is rarely a prompt response from management in the event that you need them immediately. In my experience, it is evident that the "higher-ups" truly don't have passion for what we do-- this is just a job for them, and it shows.
Much of your experience is highly differentiated by where you will be working-- some sites are very large and there are many babies, so you may have someone else working with you. At small hospitals, it will always just be you on your own. No one really has an exact idea of what you're supposed to be doing at any given moment, so you are truly your own boss. You will have to have difficult conversations with families regarding their baby's hearing, sometimes multiple times a week or even a day, and you will have to work hard to truly serve them the best you can.
Anybody can learn how to run an AABR test, but believe me when I say it takes time to get good at it. It can be very intimidating at first, but if you stick with it, it's going to be one of the best jobs you've ever had.

The only thing good about this company is Flex time (you can go to work anytime between 7-9 as long as you complete 8 hours), great benefits, PTO, Bonuses, and the fact that when the doors closed for any reason, you will still get paid 8 hours without using your PTO. Management is horrible, training is limited, they work you like slaves because the denials are out of control and the volume of turnarounds are low. We were always doing spreadsheets and adjusting off so much money due to lack of training and management not knowing there jobs. They get rid of the good workers and keep the bad ones. The system used is so old. almost everyone uses Epic but Mednax. Which is why they can not get ahead. They are always losing contracts and getting rid of departments. Your job is not secured at all. The quota or production numbers are unreachable. Coders please beware...the coding manager is evil. I have heard her call her coders stupid. She yells at them like they are children. The new RPAM for AR said he is going to clean up but I don't think there is any help for that company. I left due to poor management, no job stability, and pay. Mednax is the lowest paying company. Although, the work can be done from home, they do not offer Work from home opportunities. It is so miserable there due to the fact that they are not equipped to help you succeed in doing quality work and management ride you so bad over things that are not in your control. They care more about quantity than quality. Please take my advice and run. There are other places you can work and not have to be stressed out or get sick to your stomach when pulling in the parking lot. If you want to work at Mednax, just go for the experience to better yourself to get a better job. That's what I did and I love my new job!!!

Very easy and loving job if you love working with babies and meeting new people. You can develop some great relationships with people that can last a lifetime.  When the staffing is appropriate, the schedule runs flawlessly and can be very flexible. In my opinion, part-timers have it made. It’s the full-timers that get the short end of the stick. There is a revolving door of staffing issues that can be prevented if they listed to their staff. If you are a hard-worker, the company will acknowledge you, then use you to the fullest to cut every corner imaginable to save on costs. You have to be an independent learner, because the company depends on the staff to solve most issues. This is how they save money for bigger profits. It can be extremely stressful at times due to lack of support from the company and those we service. If you have an issue with hospital staff, schedule conflicts, or technical issues, you are better off handling yourself. If you work here, get everything in writing and ask to speak to individuals directly. Despite being in the healthcare field, I have never seen so many changes in protocol to save my life. This causes constant confusion, eats up valuable work time and contributes to relationship failure with those you service.You will find out quickly that you are just about the only one that takes the job seriously.  Learn what you can to build your resume and leave the second you begin to feel iffy.
