I have worked for Percheron several times now as an abstractor. It is easy going in respects to title. Management is supportive but not overbearing. Projects can be quite demanding on deadlines, but leads are very understanding of what you are up against. Beyond your PM, there is very little support, most employees keep to themselves and work as they did while contractors, even though Percheron has switched to predominately full time employment now. Most of the time, unless you ask someone, you may have no idea they work for the same company as you. Additionally, most work has gone to online non-field work based projects which reduces employee interactions even more. Abstractors are though encouraged to speak with PMs if an issue arises.

Employment tends to be for one project at a time. Once that client is satisfied with the work done and closed out a project, if you have made Percheron happy with your work, you might get transferred to another, but a lot of times there is not space. They are a bit more inclined to place employees over contractors, but the industry has been in trouble for a few years which makes project transfers uncommon. I have been lucky to be transferred several times to new projects, but I know of quite a few that did not make the cut between project transfers.

For the most part, work is very laid back as long as you are keeping on task and completing title in a reasonable amount of time. Once you hit a particularly ugly title, things can become stressful, but mostly due to the project expectations and hopes of getting more work, not particularly because of a lead or management expecting turnover and/or asking for updates.

I have enjoyed my time at Percheron. I would work for them again in a heart beat given the opportunity and a guarantee of steady files.

I have worked at Percheron on two different occasions. In Carthage TX I handled all the problem issues with landowners. I enjoyed this because I got to take people from angry to satisfied 90% of the time. 

I went to Pennsylvania next and I learned that snow and cold weather are not fun when you live there. Lol I worked with one of the best teams I have seen while on the Sunoco ME2. I haven't seen a team so willing to help each so that the job got done since that project. Most enjoyable was getting snowed out and going down to the corner pub for 3 dollar 50oz DosEquis on draft. The hardest part was maintaining my landowners and being survey coordinator. I have truly never worked so hard and been so stressed as that time. I am a born negotiator or peacemaker and that works very well when acquiring property, minerals, or any of the thousands of things we deal with as landmen and women. I love talking with landowners and getting to know their families. I dont so much care for having to document that discssion into AMPS, BUT AMPS has saved my butt on more than one occasion. Percheron has always been loyal to me, and I look forward to being back in the family, in which I will retire.

The overall job duties were not bad.  It was busy, but the expectation is unrealistic for the so-called required number of tracts per week to be completed.  The management (direct supervisor) was good, but the department Director goes rogue when making decisions and does not listen to the agents actually doing the work.  There is a lot of "behind the scenes conversations" that are not accurate and some people are in positions that should not be there.  This is a cut-throat company, that does not adequately train for their expectations, then uses it against you to get rid of you when they need to get rid of agents.  They send you emails with documents and say, here, read this and do the work.  If you ask questions, they say you are unqualified.  Title Reviewers each have their own style and guidelines and none follow the same protocol.  These reviewers then complain that the agents are not doing their jobs.  It's pitiful.  They tell you to work only 8 hours a day, but then criticize you when you don't get enough work done.  Seems to be very poorly managed and unorganized.  This company says they are dedicated to their clients, but they are not.  I enjoyed the beginning of this relationship, but the Director in this company is unqualified to manage people.  Period.

Having worked in this field and working in a low level management positions this is by fair the best and most helpful group of people I have ever worked with.  Fair and honest and helpful.  I plan on being with this company as long as they will have me. 

Management has always supported and help me in anything I have needed.  Good working conditions and professional attitude permeate this business.   Coupled with excellent pay and benefits has made this truly a pleasure. 

Co-workers are all very much on the same page and work well as a team very little me attitude and a lot of us attitude supports a feeling of closeness and can do attitude. 

The hardest part of the job is making sure communication is followed up with and answers are received and implemented and that is a minor issue in a company this size on a project of this magnitude. 

The most enjoyable part of this job is the people I work with and the accomplishment I feel at the end of the day.  The appreciation that is shown makes it even better.

All in all a great place with great people.  Two thumbs up.

At Percheron Acquisitions I was hired as HR Director/Office Manager.  I handled all HR, payroll, Office Management, and then they added developing white paper on new contracts and setting up new sites.  I was to keep up with the HR and compensation for new sites as well.  Shopped insurance for company and worked to get it set up.  I enjoyed being able to help everyone and with working with all the teams.  I helped the company change from one with 45 contractors and 9 employees to over 200 employees and 5 contractors.  Also went from one contract we worked on to 8 when I left.  I had to work a lot of hours, and both of my parents were in failing health and needed me to come at a moments notice.  This caused me to have difficulty keeping up, and so by mutual agreement, I left this company.

Initially, working for this company was wonderful.  However, reassignment to a long term project that was managed poorly changed my outlook.  Middle Management destroyed the pleasure of working for a potentially great company.  The field job culture is deplorable and the employees are not protected from bullying, unfair tactics and false allegations from unqualified Supervisors.  After many attempts to reach out to HR, both individually and as a group with colleagues, there were repeatedly dismal results.  Project turnover exponentially climbed, while nothing was done to discover the root cause.  Formal HR complaints were ignored or poorly investigated.  Fear of retribution prevented the ability to seek productive solutions.

•	Completion of title reports and abstracts of title reports related to oil & gas properties
•	Review & examination of mineral activity; preparation of mineral history reports
•	Negotiation, preparation and acquisition of title reports
•	Review newly acquired oil & gas leases & associated legal instruments and verify obligations to ensure purchases are made for valid leases
•	Review and pull tax cards from courthouses and location of them online
•	Perform onsite and/or online research necessary for Vesting and/or Marketable Title file production
•	Prepare chain of title and limited title certificates
•	Assemble & post title files according to project procedures
•	Assist & review other title agent’s files for quality control
•	Perform surface title research

What is the best part of working at the company?
People are pleasant to work with. The company is always having functions to build esteem while getting to know one another.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There are no real stressful parts. The co-workers and supervisors are always there to help out where needed.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is relaxed. As for the culture, there is a diverse group of people working there. What I mean by this is, there are people of different nationalities and ages.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day was working on an assigned project. It mostly consisted of research and filling in data on a spreadsheet.

Nice place to work, good supervisors/Mgmt  friendly, fun work socials but pay and benefits need improvement. Job security tied to client business. Feast or famine, good when your busy but when that job ends your position is at risk.  Supervisors and managers try to keep you busy but if no new gig your out of luck.  There are opportunities to learn new software to accommodate the client.  Some opportunities to transfer to another department instead of getting laid off. Row is primary focus, Land is secondary. lots of ROW agents, GIS and marketing to gain new projects and clients. Some outside placement opportunities.

Managers regularly stopped by the cubicle to check in and see if everything was going well - EXTREMELY nice supervisors!
Corporate culture was very good - people had good attitudes and were happy to come to work.
Compensation wasn't as good as other companies I worked for, but benefits were good; about 30% less pay than I received at other companies.  Again though, benefits were very good.
The job was in-house and that was the way the company presented a cost-saving analysis to prospective clients.  They made sure that you were working and not on the cell phone or otherwise distracted.  I loved that, but some didn't.
I WOULD WORK FOR THEM AGAIN if it didn't require that I be in the Katy / Houston area!  Loved my time working for Percheron!
