I'll start by saying that working at PerfectServe is not for everyone. It's not a huge company, we operate in a difficult/complicated industry, and things can move quickly as priorities shift or new opportunities arise. However, if you're a smart, driven, flexible, and kind person, there's really no limit to what you can accomplish here.

I've been with PerfectServe for close to 5 years now, and I landed here after working for a big, glitzy organization that had thousands of employees and lots of money. I was worried that I'd feel like a big fish in a small pond, but I've instead found that PerfectServe has given me an invaluable chance to learn, take on new responsibilities, hone my skills, and get to know some wonderful people (both inside and outside the company).

If you're willing to commit and put in the work, you'll have a place here. If you think you can sit back and wait for everybody to tell you what to do all the time, you may be uncomfortable here. I learned to put my best foot forward by leaning into my expertise even when I'm not completely certain about the right path to take, and that's never steered me wrong.

TL;DR - PerfectServe is a great place to work full of smart, compassionate, funny people. Check the Glassdoor page for a better (and more current) rundown of what employees think.

1) The healthcare technology industry can be a little fickle sometimes, and especially with challenges presented by the pandemic, things felt uncertain for stretches of time. It's better now. 2) As with any smaller company, it's not always possible to have people backing you up to get work done. The buck may stop with you, which can mean some longer days and less reassurance that you're headed the right direction. When I started, I learned to have a bias toward action at all times. My first instinct wasn't always right, so I had to get comfortable producing work to get things moving and letting other people critique it. I was uncomfortable a lot, but it's probably made me a more resilient person overall. 3) My manager has changed a number of times, but the current structure has been in place for almost three years, so we're now feeling some consistency. We did have a lot of change during the pandemic as people came and went (like many other companies), but we're solid now. 4) Remote work means less in-person interaction, which is unfortunate in some ways.

Cons

- Micromanagement (DAILY check in calls basically to make sure everyone is awake and working; DAILY Recap emails to tell your manager all about your day.... DAILY Track must be completed and sent to manager to show how many calls you made, how many emails you sent out, how many minutes you were on the phone, etc., DAILY Forecast must be given; Management watches if you are online or offline (expect to be called out if your status goes offline, so much for a bathroom break or lunch more than a half hour)

- Termination... WITHOUT NOTICE or PLAN: I was terminated without any notice whatsoever. I was told multiple times within WEEKS of being terminated that you are "doing great" "doing the right things" "Not an underperformer" etc. Not to mention even if say you were a top 5 sales rep on the year on the team in total annual sales and was just 2 months removed from a $50k month, they don't care. All it takes is to be in a "sales slump" and you will be let go.

- Growth... or lack there of. No next steps or future within the company

- Employee Retention: the company has very high employee retention. I had a number of teammates within my own team quit/fired within a 4 week span. Keep in mind this is a small business so things are done unprofessionally.

- Salary is on the low for a sales job. I took this for the commission opportunities, but the job is smile and dial. Management will listen in on your calls and will track what time you are making your calls. You will be questioned what you are doing if they don't see you making a certain number of calls by a certain time. You will be expected to make a minimum of 60 calls a day, more if you do not have meetings on your calendar (which they will check as well)

Advice to Management

- Stop Micromanaging
- Learn how to give advice to sales reps without saying, "what questions do you have for me...." maybe give advice, or try to help someone "struggling" before letting them go
- Give notice to a struggling rep. Learn to speak up and put a plan together before terminating an employee without notice. We are human as well and have our own financial struggles/goal to handle. The least you can do is give someone notice if you aren't satisfied with them.
- To management, stop acting "tough" and "intimidating" just because you found a way to get a higher level role doesn't make you any better of a person

I’ll start with the only good thing about this place—the PTO. Thats it. 

With that being said, the professional environment at this company is toxic and the notion of LIFE-work balance is a cruel joke. What was once a promising future for my career, quickly turned into constant burnout, lack of structure, and terrible clients. 

To elaborate, the culture and environment consists of micromanagement and a holier-than-thou attitude from certain individuals here. There's zero structure, extremely poor training, and rampant miscommunication at every turn. It's like playing a game where everyone has a different set of rules, and nobody bothers to clarify anything. To make matters worse, management couldn't care less about the actual quality of the work, instead they thrive on stirring up conflicts and making up drama to cause chaos. They also love to create new procedures/rules and then gaslight you into thinking it was always that way.  It's as if upper managements sole purpose is to make everyone's time here as miserable as possible. It feels like an abusive relationship. 

This place a sinking ship of dysfunction, where incompetence and ignorance reigns supreme. Save yourself the headache and find a workplace that respects its employees and actually values cohesive teamwork. 


My time at Perfect Serve was an experience that I hope I never go through again. Support T1-3: By the time you complete training you will understand that the job is full of uncontrollable variables for which you are provided no guidance or answers. The reason it feels that way is because there are GENUINELY no standard configurations for the systems you are assigned to troubleshoot. Also, "troubleshoot" shouldn't be taken in the traditional sense- your job is to "fix". Support technicians are "fixers". From training to 2-4-8 months on the job, you will constantly run into new problems for which there are new answers, no answers, or things that are so unique that you could not have been expected to fix them without help. Asking for help (after you figure out how un-fixable something is for you) takes time. Time affects your KPIs, and that leads to conversations about how you can (unreasonably) get things done faster. Shadowing your colleagues or superiors isn't an option and follow-up training is nonexistent. Overall from the product to the training provided to "fix" the product, this company needs to overhaul its standard operating procedures. My time there began with a warm welcome, and quickly transitions to cold interactions centered around unrealistic performance numbers. The pay was fair.

While PerfectServe presents itself as supportive and employee-focused, my experience was the complete opposite.

Training requires passing around 25 exams—something that is not clearly disclosed upfront. If you struggle with even 1–2 exams, you can be terminated quickly with little to no coaching or opportunity to improve. There is no real conversation or support—management escalates straight to HR instead of working with you.

Although they promote openness about learning styles and claim to offer support, that support does not actually exist. The training process leaves employees confused, underprepared, and set up to fail.

The environment feels extremely high-pressure, where even small missteps can have immediate consequences. Instead of being developed, employees are quickly filtered out.

Overall, the company sells a very strong image during hiring, but the reality does not match it.

A typical day at work begins with high stress. The company is fantastic with misrepresentation with what you will be doing on a day-to-day basis. They thoroughly enjoy pinning the employees against each other and leave your metrics to be viewed by everyone not just on your team but in the company. The turnover rate is absolutely insane and the employees are forced into “promotion” to add more work to your queue. You will immediately know you do not want to be here long term 

This company is an absolute managerial disaster.  A majority of the members of upper management and the Executive Team have either been promoted without the necessary skills to actually manage people and projects, or have been misled about their roles and authority when they've been brought in from other companies. The general consensus among good, solid employees who leave (15 or more in the last month) is that they've never had their expertise stripped so quickly by such a poisonous culture. Sexism is rampant and the CEO is unqualified to make the kinds of decisions that move a company forward.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing, this is the most boring job I have ever had. People are like wall paper, unimaginative and boring. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything moves at the pace of a snail, they might not even have time to train you properly. I thought working for the government was bad, this is worse.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There is no culture. They have no money, so they can't even get everyone together to create a culture. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
10% work, 90% waiting on someone so you can get your work done because they didn't train you properly in the first place.

There are great products that are developed; however, the organization doesn't have the business acumen to properly invest in staff to build upon its diverse product base. Each year brings new mission statement to rally behind with new organizational changes that don't make sense. you know the right people, regardless of merit and you're promoted. Way too many leaders for a company of its size and team are not distributed properly. Also, the company has failed to deliver on several contracted jobs. This destroys moral and client trust. The company cannot survive with its current leadership and business model. Anticipate a significant change or complete company breakup within 2-3 years.
