What is the best part of working at the company?
Working from home was the best part about working for the company. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I would not recommend working at Person Centered Services, particularly in the Temporary Portal Account Request Processor role.

In my experience, the training process was very limited. It mainly consisted of brief walkthroughs on Microsoft Teams, after which employees were expected to complete tasks independently. This approach made it difficult to feel fully prepared for the responsibilities of the role.

Another challenge was inconsistent direction. At times, we were given spreadsheets to complete, but follow-up emails would include instructions that differed from what was outlined in those documents. This created confusion and made it harder to complete tasks accurately.

I also received equipment that was not functioning properly, which made it more difficult to perform the job effectively.

Additionally, when I was hired, I was told there would be weekly meetings for support. However, since January, meetings occurred only about once a month, with no meetings held in March or April. This limited access to guidance made it more challenging to stay aligned with expectations.

While the position is remote and may appear straightforward, the workload combined with the level of pay did not feel balanced. Communication around expectations and support should be improved.

I was also terminated shortly after (3 days to be exact) asking for clarification about the duration of the temporary assignment, which raised concerns about transparency and job stability.

Overall, based on my experience, I would be cautious about roles related to working in the portal. While I had already been considering other opportunities, I did not feel the situation was handled fairly and wanted to share my experience so others can make informed decisions.

I worked from home independently. So I can not answer this question as it doesn’t apply

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Clocking in, working in the portal, and then clocking out.

The work we do for the people we support. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The training and organization. You get one week of training for orientation. Then you get one week of training  with your supervisor if they are available.  Then you get your caseload. I was lucky to only get 15 starting my first month. However, some of my colleagues  reported getting 30 people. Then you get caseload that people prior to you have not completed the work that was supposed to do in advance. Within 2 days after getting my caseload I had a life plan meeting, when I did not even understand  or had training  of the life plan process. They do have season team members   that come in person once a week and you can meet with them online on Mondays and Fridays, which is absolutely  amazing. However, I would recommend  more time in training learning  the role and all the things required in the role, prior to assigning someone a caseload. It is very stressful to be responsible  for a caseload when you do not even understand what qyou are doing. Also you do not have access to all the systems you need in order to complete  the work. Finally, New people are required to be in the office 3x a week but it is mostly new people in the office. And because there are no assigned desk, you have to carry your files, materials, and necessary documents  with you from your home to your job three times a week.  Atleast the new people should have  assigned desk, since they have to be in the office so much.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone is very nice and try their best to be supportive  for the overwhelming  caseload. However, if the Care coordinator  was given the correct training prior to having a caseload. I feel it would make the job so much better. Different  people have different  learning styles, and not many people can learn virtually. Some people need hands on, I person training to thrive. Also, as with every company there is a disconnect  between the requirements  of one director to the next. So, when you utilize the ambassadors  it can be difficult  learning what they teach versus what your supervisor  requires. However, they all are very nice.

This company fakes a good show. It looks good from the outside but they don't train or support you after hire and you'll be left out with your fragile disabled clients to do whatever you can come up with. Paperwork and billing is all they're concerned about "creative billing" they call it. I had literally 20 minutes of in the field training to do this very precarious job with strangers in their homes. When I mentioned the lack of training and support, and that no ones asked them how they are, I was told how do you know? I know because theyre my clients and I see and talk to them weekly and they don't lie. If you dont ask no one will tell you a thing and if you get frustrated you will be reprimanded. Do not speak to anyone in layman's terms or in a familiar manner. Office staff is accustomed to being treated like royalty. If you want to stay there you should be on board with this. Be aware people centered means the higher the staff the higher above the peons they believe themselves. I was literally told I am not an equal. The clients are but we are not. Makes sense. I escalated these concerns to hr since I did not know who to talk to and was put on an "extended introductory period" aka probation that would somehow excluded me from "mandatory" training I was asking to be excused from in the first place due to this financial hardship. With all this I was the one instigating the complaint to HR, but was written up without ever having talked to me at all. This office has a good ol girls thing going on, they are way too friendly with eachother to be non bias or effective and its truly breaks my hearts for the clients who say they feel like a product that gets shuffled around with no regard. During my two days of training my boss started late and left early both times. The other office staff would come over and blow sunshine and rattle to her on and on while I'm in the middle of training with this person. PR is the name of the game here. If you cant kiss a*s I wouldn't bother working here.

Supervisors and colleagues are very nice and supportive, flexible schedule, and the clients.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Very high stress job, large caseload numbers, workload is too much for one person to manage, policies & procedures are constantly changing(rolled out poorly by management) creating more work and stress for care coordinators, training procedures are inconsistent due to varying expectations from different supervisors, families/members and outside providers are frustrated (rightfully so) with the high turnover rates with care coordinators,  the frustrations are taken out on the new care coordinators coming in trying to do their job, providers can be disrespectful & combative ( you are told to contact the provider's HR dept if the providers are disrespectful, harassing,  discriminatory, or unprofessional) care coordinators receive cases that have been out of compliance for 6+ months and are held responsible for the last care coordinator's work, this job is heavily social work/Home health based with very little time to link, coordinate, and refer members to services. Writing billable notes every month for each member is required and is time consuming when each billable note could be 3 pages long,deadlines are unreasonable, the job is so stressful the company provides 3 hr of paid wellness hours after 90 probation most care coordinators don't use them because they don't have time 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment in the office is friendly and welcoming. The company culture is inclusive. Supervisors and coworkers are very nice and helpful. The office can get very loud when many care coordinators are in office working. PHI can be easily heard because care coordinators work in cubicles instead of private offices.

PCS is still a relatively new company and they are always working to improve the work culture, provide education about diversity and inclusion. Management all the way up to CEO do make a concerted effort to communicate with everyone on a regular basis. Lots of communication, and they are really transparent about things and don't leave us guessing. We are remote so it is easy to feel disconnected from coworkers without putting in some effort, but my team has been wonderful and we work to support each other as well. Management is super supportive and there is a huge focus on taking care of our mental health/self care. During COVID they offered one mental health day per month, in addition to our regular PTO and holiday time.  Decent benefits and pay, random incentives are offered (gift cards, food, swag, giving a group of employees a free subscription to Noom for a year). They offer raises and bonuses when they can. The job itself can be very overwhelming and things are always changing.    There are not enough hours in the day to get everything done to meet the requirements, especially if you have cases going through crises that take up a lot of your time. Overtime is not permitted. Hours can be flexible, which is nice. The people and families we work to support are wonderful. You get to know people on your caseload very well and some of them feel like family. Overall, the people you work with and culture of the company are great, but the demands of the job/level of stress can be really unreasonable. 

For the mental gymnastics the position takes, the pay is not comparable. A typical work day included trying to solve any crises that may have arisen over night or dealing with any unresolved crises from the day before. An immense amount of paperwork that was ever changing but not in the way that one would like it to-to be fully person centered. Often no one knew answers to questions that pertained to services available for clients.  The upper management did not seem to have a grasp on what the actual position of "care coordinator" involved and typically would create methodologies for completing tasks that made no sense in the real world. They lack the human connection that it takes to be a good care coordinator. They were out of touch with the real world dilemmas of the people on ones caseload.

For a long time-the mileage was a joke as they were not paying out until one drove over 20 miles-which is illogical if a lot of your clients live in a reasonably close area. They ultimately did change it back to paying mileage for any miles driven-but that did not make up for the amount of wear and tear on your car.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The STUDENTS only. A new employee is always looked at as ignorant. Seniority employees get to choose first best activities. If you’re ip for a raise you have to “beg” for it. HR are even tells you “You have to advocate for yourself” to get the raise…

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management asks you to kind of choose what subject you’re good to teach but then they change everything right before the new semester. Not knowing what the new semester will be like in terms of classes and how to prepare them. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
New employees are treated as dumb and management and team leaders “treat” and spoiled themselves with what not only because they stuck together throughout the pandemic.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
If it wasn’t for EVERYONE’ s help: chaotic.
EVERY employee deserves recognition not only the ones the supervisor likes; EVERYONE.

The only true positive was being able to work from home and having a good supervisor. When going to the office it was often very stressful due to unhappy employees/everyone being burnt out. 
Caseload sizes are unrealistic. We are supposed to have caseloads of 36, with new tasks every day making it unmanageable to support the 36. We are often told we need to cover cases and at a time I had 43 people on my caseload for well over 6 months. Typically covering cases meant a lot of “clean up” for the coordinator with unhappy clientele which can make an already stressful job even worse. Intake continued to push through new enrollees during this time making it even more unmanageable.
There are really no true bonuses. There was no compensation for working during Covid, but new employees get a 1000 dollar bonus. Most staffing feels very undervalued and unappreciated. 
I would never recommend this agency to someone looking for a job. 

Person Centered Services has been a great place to work for. I transferred to this brand new company due to New York state regulations. This company was built from the ground up stating in 2018. IN that time, there has been some up an downs but isn't that expected in a new company that is regulated by New York State. I have expanded for job knowledge, met new people that inspire me and get paid decently for being in the human services field with a 4 year degree. We have been given raises, bonuses, and flexibility through out COVID with having to work from home with children home due to school closing or hybrid situations. Yes there are things that have have been annoying or i did not agree with (tell where there is a place that doesn't have that and i will sign up) but in the end Person Centered Services is a great company to work for. Medical benefits are good(no where has great benefits anymore), PTO time, flexibility, work from home, good management and a decent CEO are just some of the benefits of working here!

The job is stressful with many deadlines and important tracking to keep up with . Sometimes expectations are 2 much .

Great benefits are saving grace for the overwhelming caseloads and constant starting over due to it being a newer program .

● Job security and advancement
Job is based on Medicaid which is currently on shaky ground and seeing major cuts .

● Management
The issue was more the communication from top down often being changed many times on the fly , becomes frustrating to try and compete timelines with ongoing input and edits that should be decided behind closed doors for care coordisntor to clearly understand and execute

● Culture
Deadlines and paperwork can be daunting at times but if super organized it’s doable

● Overall
Training for level of responsibilities was not adequate. The ongoing additions to technology with little to no training as well. Also caseloads that are stressful on a good day and exhausting on a bad.
