I left Healthcomp due to constant and personal harassment by 1 person, someone in another department who was supposed to work with my department to improve quality of all claims examiners work.  However, when I would not give her favorite people special exceptions, she became very dedicated in trying to ruin my reputation as a tough but fair auditor.  

My immediate supervisor and my team were the ONLY reason I didn't file a harassment complaint with the State of CA.  I had to go to HR several times asking them to review and assist in the constant and blatant attacks to my work and reputation.  

After nearly 5 years of slowly increasing pressure, harrassement and false accusations of targeting only certain examiners, I received an email which was not only personally attacking me and my reputation, but was inappropriately addressed to a large # of people in the company (who were not even involved).  At that point  I no choice but to file another complaint with HR dept and then put in my notice, I generously gave 3 weeks notice instead of the normal 2.  Only then did the owner of the company call a meeting of the people involved and started aggressively dealing with problem.  I was asked to stay with promises from the owner that I would not have to suffer any more personal or professional attacks, he would make sure. However, I had already accepted a new job closer to home.

Normally, I would not give this kind of review.  I don't believe in burning bridges if at all possible.  But I will not ever be going back to that job.  I was very disappointed and shocked that the issue was allowed to escalate as far as it did.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The only positive waa having the flexibility to take off when needed.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was the lack of strong leadership and proper training. There wasn't much guidance or teamwork. You're pretty  much left to figure it out without the proper tools. Training was inconsistent and scattered. The trainer and supervisor frequently canceled training sessions and meetings, sometimes for several days at a time, which made it difficult to learn and stay on track. I didn’t have a one-on-one meeting with a supervisor until almost a year after being hired.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The environment can be stressful due to poor communication and inconsistent leadership. There isn’t much structure or collaboration, and overall, the workplace feels very unorganized.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is very unstructured. System issues were frequent, and leadership didn’t seem concerned or responsive. The IT department often took a long time to resolve problems, and there was little support from management.

Having worked at the company for some time now, I’ve observed significant challenges within the People Department that overshadow what was once a promising organization. The HR department experiences higher turnover than any other in the company, driven by frequent leadership changes and a lack of cohesive direction. 

The departure of the Chief People Officer in December 2024 was a relief to all on the team,  but the absence of strong, unifying leadership continues to hinder the team’s ability to function effectively.

The environment is marked by persistent threats of layoffs, fostering a culture of distrust and competition rather than collaboration. This backstabbing atmosphere is particularly disheartening given the company’s focus on mental health services—a mission that feels disconnected from the internal reality. 

What once held great potential has devolved into an unhealthy, toxic workplace. 

Prospective employees should weigh these factors carefully.

In your Interview ask them about their point/occurance policy-what they give them for (it’s for every little thing-you get 8 then you’re gone) ask them about calling in sick and about their audit process, or save yourself the trouble and DO NOT WORK HERE. You aren’t assured to get off at your scheduled time if you’re on a call and they can last a while!  You learn so much info in not enough time (6 weeks training seems like a lot but it’s NOT!) and when you get on the floor, they promise support but you end up having to bother your co workers, and “use your resources” Everything they tell you about this job is the exact opposite. I have never felt more deceived by a job in my entire life. I have never quit a job in my life, but I put my badge on my desk and walked out. That is how miserable this job is. Not the people, but the job. 

Where do I begin… As a claims employee you will not be trained correctly, the processes change without notice, and you will micromanaged over the silliest of things. They have promoted some people who should not have been promoted. They have too many people in leading roles but refuse to hire more employees. Clients are starting to leave to new TPAs. Healthcomp used to be a great company to work for, once the big merge happened it was more like a hostile takeover. It still feels that way some days. Upper management only cares about themselves, never the employee or the members we take care of. Definitely overworked and underpaid. Proceed with caution if you are in Fresno, the Louisiana people will eat your heart out and turn it around on you like it was your fault. The head person really believe this is the best TPA in the country, sorry to break it to you boss man but your employees beg to differ. Maybe talk to the actual people who perform this work on the daily instead of people who tell you what you want to hear!!! Lying gets you no where. Protect your mental health and RUN! 

Low morale, fake positive culture. You can't be real or authentic, better play the game. Back to back 20 minute calls all day long. Coaching new members through a text message which feels unsafe especially as many people suffer from mental health challenges and numerous chronic conditions. Used to have unlimited PTO but now returning to earned hours per pay period based on years of service. Medical insurance costs are high. Push push push for metrics over high quality coaching interactions with value and outcomes for the member.  Training is provided by your peers, not industry experts. Everyone gets the same raise no matter your metrics. You are uber tracked and micromanaged. Addition of "levels" ie Health Coach I, Health Coach II, Health Coach III, but no pay raise for attaining. The only benefit is creating your own schedule within certain parameters and the pay is better than most companies these days.  

Do you enjoy working for micromanaging boomers at a company with technology from 1995? If so, this is a great company for you. The organization is a complete mess. Upper management continues to hire senior level staff with overlapping job duties and none of them get anything done. There is no creativity and no innovative thinking. They truly believe they can just brute force their way to success by micromanaging. They talk about "servant leadership" but I assure you, the COO (and other execs) are not actually embracing that concept at all. As a new hire, don't expect any training or even introductions. Be prepared to figure things out on your own because you will not be given any help. At the end of the day, your worth is measured based on your production. It makes no difference what the barriers to success are, if you aren't producing, you aren't valuable.

environment is good because you are at home but the culture is horrendous they claim to be this great company that want the best for their sponsors when the company actually has no good benefits for their own Personify staff and could care less how happy they are

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Constantly trying to meet metrics and stressed about getting let go constantly.  Daily changes, no direction, they must have salesmen out there selling this to Companies and have no clue how to implement things and wait until its too late to try to come up with a plan

I loved the work I did. I won’t mention the position as it would most likely identify who I am, but the work was not hard, I enjoyed talking to the members and when you fully understand what case management encompasses, it can be rewarding. However, management is unnecessarily ugly to people because they hold a position of “power”. They are not transparent and lack the understanding that nurses will have questions because, by nature of our profession, we don’t follow things blindly. Questions seemingly  agitated them. Although, reciprocating the same attitude would get you labeled as “insubordinate”. I honestly thought I’d retire from there, but have found another job that I enjoy without the drama. Again the work itself isn’t hard, it can be worth it for someone not looking to be in or near managements orbit.

They make promises to clients they can't keep. The employees get blamed for not being able to keep up with the work load. They systems they use are outdated. Managers are two faced and like their egos stroked. They eliminated a major supporting role in the claims department 6 to 8 team leads that were there to help when needed and replaced them with 3 people who are lazy, non responsive, and no help to the claims examiners what so ever. The company bought a couple smaller TPAs out of Georgia, and now the micromanaging is worse. A lady called a department meeting and basically let us know she thought we were lazy people over a back log created by upper management and lying sales team. A lot of our work is farmed out to people over seas and we spend the majority of our time fixing their mistakes. Proceed with caution.
