Phoenix Mountain Post Acute

When I started working here, everyone was kind and helpful. This is my first job in a skilled nursing facility. I was stressed out at first because I was inexperienced in some areas. The other receptionists and even other staff members were very encouraging and made me feel at ease. I easily got the hang of it! In the hallways, people say hello and smile at each other. I have also made new friends! I have learned so many things that I can apply in my everyday life such as faxing, customer service, and teamwork. This is a great working experience! For me, as a receptionist, the hardest part of my job are the phone calls. Sometimes, I get multiple calls at the same time but it is manageable. The most enjoyable part of my job is interacting with the residents. They have amazing stories to tell and want to get to know you. Many of them know my name. The workplace culture is very positive. People are willing to help you and make sure you stay on track. We also have staff meetings which are fun to attend. They are informative and fun.  Sometimes, there are food trucks and spirit weeks that everyone looks forward to! Schedules are pretty flexible as well. I am going to be starting college soon and they are willing to schedule me around my morning classes. Overall, Phoenix Mountain is a great facility that cares about its employees, residents, volunteers, and visitors. 

I had worked double weekends at this facility, and it was the worst nursing facility I had ever worked at. It was always understaffed, and the CNA's and Nurses were not helpful. They expect you to pick up patients who are 2 assist by yourself. They require all the CNA's to use hoyer lifts and sara lifts by themselves. If you ask anyone to help you transfer a patient they report you to the Director of Nursing for not doing your job. Management was obviously not knowledgeable in OSHA practices for patient safety as they agreed with the C.N.A's in that I was expected to lift these heavy patients by myself, and not doing so would result in my termination of employment. The nurses never helped with anything, and were the most lazy nurses I had ever worked with. This facility also has an issue with favorites. If you are not a favorite, or part of their little click, then your job will be 100 times more difficult. If you value your license or your safety, do not work here.

Phoenix mountain does not put their employee first like stated. They do not work with your schedule and have really rude people working there. I worked there for about 5 months and was emotionally drained. They never cared and always treated me like the lowest because I was a CNA. Some people there hate their job and they reflect that onto the patients. Their staffing coordinator also gave me a hard time. Took me off a permanent hallway and kept switching y patients everyday to the point I felt uncomfortable. They only started to care when I told them I was leaving the workplace. 

the most enjoyable part of the job is attending to the patrons for which the facility is provided, the elderly. It is/was rewarding to see their needs met daily, per their request without bias or personal preferences as to economic condition or elderly persons behavior and beliefs...inside the facility. I didn't play with those set of cards. Some residents were over looked meeting their needs based on these ideologies. Sad to think you can get your remote or direct tv set up and be advised to instruction based on your payment being received by facility or not.

Phoenix Mountain has always been a home away from home and I personally have had a unique experience being able to work here. There are many staff members that have worked at this facility from the very beginning, and their longevity and the family like atmosphere you feel is what makes this a great place to work. Like every family we all have our flaws and quirks but when it comes down to it we’re a TEAM. From Nursing to Housekeeping, to Dietary, Therapy, and Activities, every single department works hard and as harmoniously as possible to ensure that our residents have a pleasant living experience here, especially during these difficult times that we face. 

Working with many of the same staff over the years that I have been an employee is one of the perks at PMNC. To me it is one of the indicators of good management and happy people, when many have been there for extended periods of time. The rehab nurses really attempt to know all of the patients and their needs, even knowing they may only be there a very short time. The therapists are excellent, flexible with schedules and working hard with patients and families for optimal results for their loved ones. Middle management  (DoN, Dept directors etc) highly involved and very visible in patient care.

I have been at Phoenix Mountain for just a short time, I have been received amazingly.  The staff here are always busy and looking to support me and others.  There is a great feel in the building.  The majority of the staff have been here YEARS.  This is uncommon in SNF/LTC facilities.  My experience has been that staff jump around for pay or other reasons but this facility seems to have a longevity issue.  The greatest opportunity for this facility is to progress with the changes that seem to be on the horizon.

The nurses are lazy and don’t do anything to help, they just pile more and more on the CNA and yell at them. The nurses pick on the new CNA’s. The facility is always short staffed and you don’t get to take your lunch breaks then management gets mad and want to know why you didn’t take your break. Management never holds 2nd or 3rd shift accountable for anything and it’s up to first shift to fix it all on top of all the other tasks there isn’t time for. Terrible place to work I would never recommend this place to anyone!!!

Phoenix Mountain Nursing Center offers all the goodness of a nursing care center as well as the at home feel of a staff dedicated to the wellbeing of its residents.  Employees at this care center certainly enjoyed the group involvement and unique contributions that made this a great care center a wonderful place to live and work.

Excellent communication with staff and friendly. Have a sense of working place for good. Keep up the good work and heroes lives here in this particular place. Hopefully my years and good people were surround during my employment in this company.
